وَٱلْمُرْسَلَـٰتِ عُرْفًا١

вəəльмурсəлəəти 'урфə

By the [angelic] emissaries sent successively,

فَٱلْعَـٰصِفَـٰتِ عَصْفًا٢

фəəль'əəсыфəəти 'əсфə

by those who sweep along like gale,

وَٱلنَّـٰشِرَٲتِ نَشْرًا٣

вə ннəəширōōти нəшрō

by those who publish [the Divine messages] far and wide,

فَٱلْفَـٰرِقَـٰتِ فَرْقًا٤

фəəльфəəриќōōти фəрќō

by those who separate [the truth from falsehood] distinctly,

فَٱلْمُلْقِيَـٰتِ ذِكْرًا٥

фəəльмульќийəəти з̃икрō

by those who inspire [God’s] remembrance,

عُذْرًا أَوْ نُذْرًا٦

'уз̃рōн əу нуз̃рō

as exemption or warning:

إِنَّمَا تُوعَدُونَ لَوَٲقِعٌ٧

иннəмəə туу'əдуунə лəвəəќи'

what you are promised will surely befall.

فَإِذَا ٱلنُّجُومُ طُمِسَتْ٨

фəиз̃əə ннуджууму т̣умисəт

When the stars are blotted out

وَإِذَا ٱلسَّمَآءُ فُرِجَتْ٩

вəиз̃əə ссəмəə'у фуриджəт

and the sky is cleft,

وَإِذَا ٱلْجِبَالُ نُسِفَتْ١٠

вəиз̃əəль-джибəəлю нусифəт

when the mountains are scattered [like dust]

وَإِذَا ٱلرُّسُلُ أُقِّتَتْ١١

вəиз̃əə ррусулю уќќитəт

and time is set for the apostles [to bear witness]

لِأَىِّ يَوْمٍ أُجِّلَتْ١٢

лиəййи йəумин уджджилəт

—for what day has [all] that been set [to occur]?

لِيَوْمِ ٱلْفَصْلِ١٣

лийəумиль-фəсль

For the Day of Judgement!

وَمَآ أَدْرَٮٰكَ مَا يَوْمُ ٱلْفَصْلِ١٤

вəмəə əдрōōкə мəə йəумуль-фəсль

And what will show you what is the Day of Judgement!?

وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ١٥

вəйлюй-йəумə'из̃ил-ли-ль-мукəз̃з̃ибиин

Woe to the deniers on that day!

أَلَمْ نُهْلِكِ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ١٦

əлəм нуhликиль-əувəлиин

Did We not destroy the former generations,

ثُمَّ نُتْبِعُهُمُ ٱلْأَخِرِينَ١٧

c̃уммə нутби'уhумуль-'əəхыриин

[and] then made the latter ones follow them?

كَذَٲلِكَ نَفْعَلُ بِٱلْمُجْرِمِينَ١٨

кəз̃əəликə нəф'əлю биль-муджримиин

That is how We deal with the guilty.

وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ١٩

вəйлюй-йəумə'из̃ил-ли-ль-мукəз̃з̃ибиин

Woe to the deniers on that day!

أَلَمْ نَخْلُقكُّم مِّن مَّآءٍ مَّهِينٍ٢٠

əлəм нəхлюккум-мимм-мəə'имм-мəhиин

Have We not created you from a base fluid,

فَجَعَلْنَـٰهُ فِى قَرَارٍ مَّكِينٍ٢١

фəджə'əльнəəhу фии ќōрōōримм-мəкиин

[and] then lodged it in a secure abode

إِلَىٰ قَدَرٍ مَّعْلُومٍ٢٢

илəə ќōдəримм-мə'лююм

until a known span [of time]?

فَقَدَرْنَا فَنِعْمَ ٱلْقَـٰدِرُونَ٢٣

фəќōдəрнəə фəни'мəль-ќōōдируун

Then We determined; and how excellent determiners We are!

وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ٢٤

вəйлюй-йəумə'из̃ил-ли-ль-мукəз̃з̃ибиин

Woe to the deniers on that day!

أَلَمْ نَجْعَلِ ٱلْأَرْضَ كِفَاتًا٢٥

əлəм нəдж'əлиль-əрдō кифəəтə

Have We not made the earth a receptacle

أَحْيَآءً وَأَمْوَٲتًا٢٦

əhйəə'əу-вəəмвəəтə

for the living and the dead,

وَجَعَلْنَا فِيهَا رَوَٲسِىَ شَـٰمِخَـٰتٍ وَأَسْقَيْنَـٰكُم مَّآءً فُرَاتًا٢٧

вəджə'əльнəə фииhəə рōвəəсийə шəəмихōōтиу-вəəсќōйнəəкум-мəə'əн фурōōтə

and set in it lofty [and] firm mountains, and given you agreeable water to drink?

وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ٢٨

вəйлюй-йəумə'из̃ил-ли-ль-мукəз̃з̃ибиин

Woe to the deniers on that day!

ٱنطَلِقُوٓاْ إِلَىٰ مَا كُنتُم بِهِۦ تُكَذِّبُونَ٢٩

иӈт̣ōлиќуу илəə мəə куӈтумм-биhи тукəз̃з̃ибуун

[The faithless will be told:] ‘Proceed toward what you used to deny!

ٱنطَلِقُوٓاْ إِلَىٰ ظِلٍّ ذِى ثَلَـٰثِ شُعَبٍ٣٠

иӈт̣ōлиќуу илəə з̃ыллин з̃ии c̃əлəəc̃и шу'əб

Proceed toward the triple-forked shadow,

لَّا ظَلِيلٍ وَلَا يُغْنِى مِنَ ٱللَّهَبِ٣١

лəə з̃ōлиилиу-вəлəə йуґнии минə ллаhəб

neither shady nor of any avail against the flames.

إِنَّهَا تَرْمِى بِشَرَرٍ كَٱلْقَصْرِ٣٢

иннəhəə тəрмии бишəрōрин кəəльќōср

Indeed it throws up [giant] sparks like castles,

كَأَنَّهُۥ جِمَـٰلَتٌ صُفْرٌ٣٣

кəəннəhу джимəəлəтун суфр

[bright] like yellow camels.

وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ٣٤

вəйлюй-йəумə'из̃ил-ли-ль-мукəз̃з̃ибиин

Woe to the deniers on that day!

هَـٰذَا يَوْمُ لَا يَنطِقُونَ٣٥

həəз̃əə йəуму лəə йəӈт̣ыќуун

This is a day wherein they will not speak,

وَلَا يُؤْذَنُ لَهُمْ فَيَعْتَذِرُونَ٣٦

вəлəə йу'з̃əну лəhум фəйə'тəз̃ируун

nor will they be permitted to offer excuses.

وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ٣٧

вəйлюй-йəумə'из̃ил-ли-ль-мукəз̃з̃ибиин

Woe to the deniers on that day!

هَـٰذَا يَوْمُ ٱلْفَصْلِ‌ۖ جَمَعْنَـٰكُمْ وَٱلْأَوَّلِينَ٣٨

həəз̃əə йəумуль-фəсль, джəмə'нəəкум вəəльəувəлиин

‘This is the Day of Judgement. We have brought you together with the former generations.

فَإِن كَانَ لَكُمْ كَيْدٌ فَكِيدُونِ٣٩

фəиӈ-кəəнə лəкум кəйдун фəкиидуун

If you have any stratagems [left], try them out against Me!’

وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ٤٠

вəйлюй-йəумə'из̃ил-ли-ль-мукəз̃з̃ибиин

Woe to the deniers on that day!

إِنَّ ٱلْمُتَّقِينَ فِى ظِلَـٰلٍ وَعُيُونٍ٤١

иннəль-муттəќиинə фии з̃ылəəлиу-вə'уйуун

Indeed the Godwary will be amid shades and springs

وَفَوَٲكِهَ مِمَّا يَشْتَهُونَ٤٢

вəфəвəəкиhə миммəə йəштəhуун

and [enjoying] such fruits as they desire.

كُلُواْ وَٱشْرَبُواْ هَنِيٓـــَٔۢا بِمَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ٤٣

кулюю вəəшрōбуу həнии'əмм-бимəə куӈтум тə'мəлююн

[They will be told:] ‘Enjoy your food and drink, [a reward] for what you used to do.

إِنَّا كَذَٲلِكَ نَجْزِى ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ٤٤

иннəə кəз̃əəликə нəджзииль-муhсиниин

Thus do We reward the virtuous.’

وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ٤٥

вəйлюй-йəумə'из̃ил-ли-ль-мукəз̃з̃ибиин

Woe to the deniers on that day!

كُلُواْ وَتَمَتَّعُواْ قَلِيلاً إِنَّكُم مُّجْرِمُونَ٤٦

кулюю вəтəмəттə'уу ќōлиилəн иннəкум-муджримуун

‘Eat and enjoy a little! You are indeed guilty.’

وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ٤٧

вəйлюй-йəумə'из̃ил-ли-ль-мукəз̃з̃ибиин

Woe to the deniers on that day!

وَإِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمُ ٱرْكَعُواْ لَا يَرْكَعُونَ٤٨

вəиз̃əə ќиилə лəhуму-ркə'уу лəə йəркə'уун

When they are told, ‘Bow down [in prayer],’ they do not bow down!

وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ٤٩

вəйлюй-йəумə'из̃ил-ли-ль-мукəз̃з̃ибиин

Woe to the deniers on that day!

فَبِأَىِّ حَدِيثِۭ بَعْدَهُۥ يُؤْمِنُونَ٥٠

фəбиəййи həдииc̃имм-бə'дəhу йу'минуун

So what discourse will they believe after this?
