19:5
وَإِنِّي خِفْتُ الْمَوَالِيَ مِن وَرَائِي وَكَانَتِ امْرَأَتِي عَاقِرًا فَهَبْ لِي مِن لَّدُنكَ وَلِيًّاвə`иннии хыфтуль-мəвəəлийə миу-вəрōō`ии вəкəəнəти-мрō`əтии 'əəќирōн фəhəб лии миль-лəдуŋŋкə вəлиййə
Indeed I fear my kinsmen, after me, and my wife is barren. So grant me from Yourself an heir -
19:7
يَا زَكَرِيَّا إِنَّا نُبَشِّرُكَ بِغُلَامٍ اسْمُهُ يَحْيَىٰ لَمْ نَجْعَل لَّهُ مِن قَبْلُ سَمِيًّاйəə зəкəриййəə иннəə нубəшширукə биґулəəмин-смуhу йəhйəə лəм нəдж'əль-лəhу миŋŋ-ќōблю сəмиййə
‘O Zechariah! Indeed We give you the good news of a son, whose name is ‘‘John.’’ Never before have We made anyone his namesake.’ -
19:8
قَالَ رَبِّ أَنَّىٰ يَكُونُ لِي غُلَامٌ وَكَانَتِ امْرَأَتِي عَاقِرًا وَقَدْ بَلَغْتُ مِنَ الْكِبَرِ عِتِيًّاќōōлə рōбби əннəə йəкууну лии ґулəəмуу-вəкəəнəти-мрō`əтии 'əəќирōу-вəќōд бəлəґту минəль-кибəри 'итиййə
He said, ‘My Lord! How shall I have a son, when my wife is barren, and I am already advanced in age?’ -
19:9
قَالَ كَذَٰلِكَ قَالَ رَبُّكَ هُوَ عَلَيَّ هَيِّنٌ وَقَدْ خَلَقْتُكَ مِن قَبْلُ وَلَمْ تَكُ شَيْئًاќōōлə кəз̃əəликə ќōōлə рōббукə hувə 'əлэййə həййинуу-вəќōд хōлəќтукə миŋŋ-ќōблю вəлəм тəку шэй`ə
He said, ‘So shall it be. Your Lord has said, ‘‘It is simple for Me.’’ Certainly I created you before when you were nothing.’ -
19:10
قَالَ رَبِّ اجْعَل لِّي آيَةً ۚ قَالَ آيَتُكَ أَلَّا تُكَلِّمَ النَّاسَ ثَلَاثَ لَيَالٍ سَوِيًّاќōōлə рōбби-дж'əл-лии əəйəh, ќōōлə əəйəтукə əльлəə тукəллимəн-нəəсə c̃əлəəc̃ə лəйəəлин сəвиййə
He said, ‘My Lord! Appoint a sign for me.’ He said, ‘Your sign is that you will not speak to the people for three complete nights.’ -
19:11
فَخَرَجَ عَلَىٰ قَوْمِهِ مِنَ الْمِحْرَابِ فَأَوْحَىٰ إِلَيْهِمْ أَن سَبِّحُوا بُكْرَةً وَعَشِيًّاфəхōрōджə 'əлəə ќōумиhи минəль-миhрōōби фə`əуhəə илəйhим əŋŋ-сəббиhуу букрōтəу-вə'əшиййə
So he emerged before his people from the Temple, and signalled to them that they should glorify [Allah] morning and evening. -
19:17
فَاتَّخَذَتْ مِن دُونِهِمْ حِجَابًا فَأَرْسَلْنَا إِلَيْهَا رُوحَنَا فَتَمَثَّلَ لَهَا بَشَرًا سَوِيًّاфəəттəхōз̃əт миŋŋ-дууниhим hиджəəбəн фə`əрсəльнəə илəйhəə рууhəнəə фəтəмəc̃c̃əлə лəhəə бəшəрōн сəвиййə
Thus did she seclude herself from them, whereupon We sent to her Our Spirit and he became incarnate for her as a well-proportioned human. -
19:21
قَالَ كَذَٰلِكِ قَالَ رَبُّكِ هُوَ عَلَيَّ هَيِّنٌ ۖ وَلِنَجْعَلَهُ آيَةً لِّلنَّاسِ وَرَحْمَةً مِّنَّا ۚ وَكَانَ أَمْرًا مَّقْضِيًّاќōōлə кəз̃əəлики ќōōлə рōббуки hувə 'əлэййə həййин, вəлинəдж'əлəhу əəйəтəл-лин-нəəси вəрōhмəтəмм-миннəə, вəкəəнə əмрōмм-мəќдыййə
He said, ‘So shall it be. Your Lord says, ‘‘It is simple for Me.’’ And so that We may make him a sign for mankind and a mercy from Us, and it is a matter [already] decided.’ -
19:23
فَأَجَاءَهَا الْمَخَاضُ إِلَىٰ جِذْعِ النَّخْلَةِ قَالَتْ يَا لَيْتَنِي مِتُّ قَبْلَ هَـٰذَا وَكُنتُ نَسْيًا مَّنسِيًّاфə`əджəə`əhəəль-мəхōōду илəə джиз̃'ин-нəхлəти ќōōлəт йəə лэйтəнии митту ќōблə həəз̃əə вəкуŋŋту нəсйəмм-мəŋŋсиййə
The birth pangs brought her to the trunk of a date palm. She said, ‘I wish I had died before this and become a forgotten thing, beyond recall.’
