2:164
إِنَّ فِي خَلْقِ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ وَاخْتِلَافِ اللَّيْلِ وَالنَّهَارِ وَالْفُلْكِ الَّتِي تَجْرِي فِي الْبَحْرِ بِمَا يَنفَعُ النَّاسَ وَمَا أَنزَلَ اللَّهُ مِنَ السَّمَاءِ مِن مَّاءٍ فَأَحْيَا بِهِ الْأَرْضَ بَعْدَ مَوْتِهَا وَبَثَّ فِيهَا مِن كُلِّ دَابَّةٍ وَتَصْرِيفِ الرِّيَاحِ وَالسَّحَابِ الْمُسَخَّرِ بَيْنَ السَّمَاءِ وَالْأَرْضِ لَآيَاتٍ لِّقَوْمٍ يَعْقِلُونَиннə фии хōльќис-сəмəəвəəти вəəль`əрды вəəхтилəəфиль-лэйли вəн-нəhəəри вəəльфулькиль-лəтии тəджрии фииль-бəhри бимəə йəŋŋфə'ун-нəəсə вəмəə əŋŋзəлəл-лаhу минəс-сəмəə`и мимм-мəə`ин фə`əhйəə биhиль-əрдō бə'дə мəутиhəə вəбəc̃c̃ə фииhəə миŋŋ-кулли дəəббəтиу-вəтəсриифир-рийəəhи вəс-сəhəəбиль-мусəххōри бэйнəс-сəмəə`и вəəль`əрды лə`əəйəəтил-лиќōумий-йə'ќилююн
Indeed in the creation of the heavens and the earth, and the alternation of night and day, and the ships that sail at sea with profit to men, and the water that Allah sends down from the sky—with which He revives the earth after its death, and scatters therein every kind of animal—and the changing of the winds, and the clouds disposed between the sky and the earth, there are surely signs for a people who exercise their reason. -
2:165
وَمِنَ النَّاسِ مَن يَتَّخِذُ مِن دُونِ اللَّهِ أَندَادًا يُحِبُّونَهُمْ كَحُبِّ اللَّهِ ۖ وَالَّذِينَ آمَنُوا أَشَدُّ حُبًّا لِّلَّهِ ۗ وَلَوْ يَرَى الَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا إِذْ يَرَوْنَ الْعَذَابَ أَنَّ الْقُوَّةَ لِلَّهِ جَمِيعًا وَأَنَّ اللَّهَ شَدِيدُ الْعَذَابِвəминəн-нəəси мəй-йəттəхыз̃у миŋŋ-дууниль-лəhи əŋŋдəəдəй-йуhиббуунəhум кəhуббиль-лəh, вəəльлəз̃иинə əəмəнуу əшəдду hуббəл-лильлəh, вəлəу йəрōōль-лəз̃иинə з̃ōлəмуу из̃ йəрōунəль-'əз̃əəбə əннəль-ќуувəтə лильлəhи джəмии'əу-вə`əннəл-лаhə шəдиидуль-'əз̃əəб
Among the people are those who set up compeers besides Allah, loving them as if loving Allah—but the faithful have a more ardent love for Allah—though the wrongdoers will see, when they sight the punishment, that power, altogether, belongs to Allah, and that Allah is severe in punishment. -
2:166
إِذْ تَبَرَّأَ الَّذِينَ اتُّبِعُوا مِنَ الَّذِينَ اتَّبَعُوا وَرَأَوُا الْعَذَابَ وَتَقَطَّعَتْ بِهِمُ الْأَسْبَابُиз̃ тəбəррō`əль-лəз̃иинə-ттуби'уу минəль-лəз̃иинə-ттəбə'уу вəрō`əвуль-'əз̃əəбə вəтəќōттō'əт биhимуль-əсбəəб
When those who were followed will disown the followers, and they will sight the punishment while all their means of recourse will be cut off, -
2:167
وَقَالَ الَّذِينَ اتَّبَعُوا لَوْ أَنَّ لَنَا كَرَّةً فَنَتَبَرَّأَ مِنْهُمْ كَمَا تَبَرَّءُوا مِنَّا ۗ كَذَٰلِكَ يُرِيهِمُ اللَّهُ أَعْمَالَهُمْ حَسَرَاتٍ عَلَيْهِمْ ۖ وَمَا هُم بِخَارِجِينَ مِنَ النَّارِвəќōōлəль-лəз̃иинə-ттəбə'уу лəу əннə лəнəə кəррōтəн фəнəтəбəррō`ə минhум кəмəə тəбəррō`уу миннəə, кəз̃əəликə йурииhимул-лаhу ə'мəəлəhум həсəрōōтин 'əлэйhим, вəмəə hумм-бихōōриджиинə минəн-нəəр
and when the followers will say, ‘Had there been another turn for us, we would disown them as they disown us [now]!’ Thus shall Allah show them their deeds as regrets for themselves, and they shall not leave the Fire. -
2:168
يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ كُلُوا مِمَّا فِي الْأَرْضِ حَلَالًا طَيِّبًا وَلَا تَتَّبِعُوا خُطُوَاتِ الشَّيْطَانِ ۚ إِنَّهُ لَكُمْ عَدُوٌّ مُّبِينٌйəə əййуhəəн-нəəсу кулюю миммəə фииль-əрды həлəəлəн тōййибəу-вəлəə тəттəби'уу хутувəəтиш-шэйтōōн, иннəhу лəкум 'əдуувумм-мубиин
O mankind! Eat of what is lawful and pure in the earth, and do not follow in Satan’s steps. Indeed, he is your manifest enemy. -
2:169
إِنَّمَا يَأْمُرُكُم بِالسُّوءِ وَالْفَحْشَاءِ وَأَن تَقُولُوا عَلَى اللَّهِ مَا لَا تَعْلَمُونَиннəмəə йə`мурукумм-бис-суу`и вəəльфəhшəə`и вə`əŋŋ-тəќуулюю 'əлəл-лаhи мəə лəə тə'лəмуун
He only prompts you to [commit] evil and indecent acts, and that you attribute to Allah what you do not know. -
2:170
وَإِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمُ اتَّبِعُوا مَا أَنزَلَ اللَّهُ قَالُوا بَلْ نَتَّبِعُ مَا أَلْفَيْنَا عَلَيْهِ آبَاءَنَا ۗ أَوَلَوْ كَانَ آبَاؤُهُمْ لَا يَعْقِلُونَ شَيْئًا وَلَا يَهْتَدُونَвə`из̃əə ќиилə лəhуму-ттəби'уу мəə əŋŋзəлəл-лаhу ќōōлюю бəль нəттəби'у мəə əльфəйнəə 'əлэйhи əəбəə`əнəə, əвəлəу кəəнə əəбəə`уhум лəə йə'ќилююнə шэй`əу-вəлəə йəhтəдуун
When they are told, ‘Follow what Allah has sent down,’ they say, ‘No, We will follow what we have found our fathers following.’ What, even if their fathers neither exercised their reason nor were guided?! -
2:171
وَمَثَلُ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا كَمَثَلِ الَّذِي يَنْعِقُ بِمَا لَا يَسْمَعُ إِلَّا دُعَاءً وَنِدَاءً ۚ صُمٌّ بُكْمٌ عُمْيٌ فَهُمْ لَا يَعْقِلُونَвəмəc̃əлюль-лəз̃иинə кəфəруу кəмəc̃əлиль-лəз̃ии йəн'иќу бимəə лəə йəсмə'у ильлəə ду'əə`əу-вəнидəə`ə, суммумм-букмун 'умйун фəhум лəə йə'ќилююн
The parable of the faithless is that of someone who shouts after that which does not hear [anything] except a call and cry: deaf, dumb, and blind, they do not exercise their reason. -
2:172
يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا كُلُوا مِن طَيِّبَاتِ مَا رَزَقْنَاكُمْ وَاشْكُرُوا لِلَّهِ إِن كُنتُمْ إِيَّاهُ تَعْبُدُونَйəə əййуhəəль-лəз̃иинə əəмəнуу кулюю миŋŋ-тōййибəəти мəə рōзəќнəəкум вəəшкуруу лильлəhи иŋŋ-куŋŋтум иййəəhу тə'будуун
O you who have faith! Eat of the good things We have provided you, and thank Allah, if it is Him that you worship. -
2:173
إِنَّمَا حَرَّمَ عَلَيْكُمُ الْمَيْتَةَ وَالدَّمَ وَلَحْمَ الْخِنزِيرِ وَمَا أُهِلَّ بِهِ لِغَيْرِ اللَّهِ ۖ فَمَنِ اضْطُرَّ غَيْرَ بَاغٍ وَلَا عَادٍ فَلَا إِثْمَ عَلَيْهِ ۚ إِنَّ اللَّهَ غَفُورٌ رَّحِيمٌиннəмəə həррōмə 'əлэйкумуль-мəйтəтə вəд-дəмə вəлəhмəль-хыŋŋзиири вəмəə уhильлə биhи лиґōйриль-лəh, фəмəни-дтуррō ґōйрō бəəґиу-вəлəə 'əəдин фəлəə иc̃мə 'əлэйh, иннəл-лаhə ґōфуурур-рōhиим
He has forbidden you only carrion, blood, the flesh of the swine, and that which has been offered to other than Allah. But should someone be compelled, without being rebellious or transgressive, there shall be no sin upon him. Indeed Allah is all-forgiving, all-merciful. -
2:174
إِنَّ الَّذِينَ يَكْتُمُونَ مَا أَنزَلَ اللَّهُ مِنَ الْكِتَابِ وَيَشْتَرُونَ بِهِ ثَمَنًا قَلِيلًا ۙ أُولَـٰئِكَ مَا يَأْكُلُونَ فِي بُطُونِهِمْ إِلَّا النَّارَ وَلَا يُكَلِّمُهُمُ اللَّهُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ وَلَا يُزَكِّيهِمْ وَلَهُمْ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌиннəль-лəз̃иинə йəктумуунə мəə əŋŋзəлəл-лаhу минəль-китəəби вəйəштəруунə биhи c̃əмəнəн ќōлиилəн уулəə`икə мəə йə`кулююнə фии бутууниhим ильлəəн-нəəрō вəлəə йукəллимуhумул-лаhу йəумəль-ќийəəмəти вəлəə йузəккииhим вəлəhум 'əз̃əəбун əлиим
Indeed those who conceal what Allah has sent down of the Book and sell it for a paltry gain—they do not take in, into their bellies, [anything] except fire, and Allah shall not speak to them on the Day of Resurrection, nor shall He purify them, and there is a painful punishment for them. -
2:175
أُولَـٰئِكَ الَّذِينَ اشْتَرَوُا الضَّلَالَةَ بِالْهُدَىٰ وَالْعَذَابَ بِالْمَغْفِرَةِ ۚ فَمَا أَصْبَرَهُمْ عَلَى النَّارِуулəə`икəль-лəз̃иинə-штəрōвуд-дōлəəлəтə би-ль-hудəə вəəль'əз̃əəбə би-ль-мəґфирōh, фəмəə əсбəрōhум 'əлəəн-нəəр
They are the ones who bought error for guidance, and punishment for pardon: how patient of them to face the Fire! -
2:176
ذَٰلِكَ بِأَنَّ اللَّهَ نَزَّلَ الْكِتَابَ بِالْحَقِّ ۗ وَإِنَّ الَّذِينَ اخْتَلَفُوا فِي الْكِتَابِ لَفِي شِقَاقٍ بَعِيدٍз̃əəликə би`əннəл-лаhə нəззəлəль-китəəбə би-ль-həќќ, вə`иннəль-лəз̃иинə-хтəлəфуу фииль-китəəби лəфии шиќōōќимм-бə'иид
That is so because Allah has sent down the Book with the truth, and those who differ about the Book are surely in extreme defiance. -
2:177
۞ لَّيْسَ الْبِرَّ أَن تُوَلُّوا وُجُوهَكُمْ قِبَلَ الْمَشْرِقِ وَالْمَغْرِبِ وَلَـٰكِنَّ الْبِرَّ مَنْ آمَنَ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ وَالْمَلَائِكَةِ وَالْكِتَابِ وَالنَّبِيِّينَ وَآتَى الْمَالَ عَلَىٰ حُبِّهِ ذَوِي الْقُرْبَىٰ وَالْيَتَامَىٰ وَالْمَسَاكِينَ وَابْنَ السَّبِيلِ وَالسَّائِلِينَ وَفِي الرِّقَابِ وَأَقَامَ الصَّلَاةَ وَآتَى الزَّكَاةَ وَالْمُوفُونَ بِعَهْدِهِمْ إِذَا عَاهَدُوا ۖ وَالصَّابِرِينَ فِي الْبَأْسَاءِ وَالضَّرَّاءِ وَحِينَ الْبَأْسِ ۗ أُولَـٰئِكَ الَّذِينَ صَدَقُوا ۖ وَأُولَـٰئِكَ هُمُ الْمُتَّقُونَлэйсəль-биррō əŋŋ-тувəллюю вуджууhəкум ќибəлəль-мəшриќи вəəльмəґриби вəлəəкиннəль-биррō мəн əəмəнə биль-лəhи вəəльйəумиль-əəхыри вəəльмəлəə`икəти вəəлькитəəби вəн-нəбиййиинə вə`əəтəəль-мəəлə 'əлəə hуббиhи з̃əвииль-ќурбəə вəəльйəтəəмəə вəəльмəсəəкиинə вəəбнəс-сəбиили вəс-сəə`илиинə вəфиир-риќōōби вə`əќōōмəс-сōлəəтə вə`əəтəəз-зəкəəтə вəəльмууфуунə би'əhдиhим из̃əə 'əəhəдуу, вəс-сōōбириинə фииль-бə`сəə`и вəд-дōррōō`и вəhиинəль-бə`с, уулəə`икəль-лəз̃иинə сōдəќуу, вə`уулəə`икə hумуль-муттəќуун
Piety is not to turn your faces to the east or the west; rather, piety is [personified by] those who have faith in Allah and the Last Day, the angels, the Book, and the prophets, and who give their wealth, for the love of Him, to relatives, orphans, the needy, the traveller and the beggar, and for [the freeing of] the slaves, and maintain the prayer and give the zakat, and those who fulfill their covenants, when they pledge themselves, and those who are patient in stress and distress, and in the heat of battle. They are the ones who are true [to their covenant], and it is they who are the Godwary. -
2:178
يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا كُتِبَ عَلَيْكُمُ الْقِصَاصُ فِي الْقَتْلَى ۖ الْحُرُّ بِالْحُرِّ وَالْعَبْدُ بِالْعَبْدِ وَالْأُنثَىٰ بِالْأُنثَىٰ ۚ فَمَنْ عُفِيَ لَهُ مِنْ أَخِيهِ شَيْءٌ فَاتِّبَاعٌ بِالْمَعْرُوفِ وَأَدَاءٌ إِلَيْهِ بِإِحْسَانٍ ۗ ذَٰلِكَ تَخْفِيفٌ مِّن رَّبِّكُمْ وَرَحْمَةٌ ۗ فَمَنِ اعْتَدَىٰ بَعْدَ ذَٰلِكَ فَلَهُ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌйəə əййуhəəль-лəз̃иинə əəмəнуу кутибə 'əлэйкумуль-ќисōōсу фииль-ќōтлəə, əльhурру би-ль-hурри вəəль'əбду би-ль-'əбди вəəль`уŋŋc̃əə би-ль-уŋŋc̃əə, фəмəн 'уфийə лəhу мин əхыыhи шэй`ун фəəттибəə'умм-би-ль-мə'рууфи вə`əдəə`ун илəйhи би`иhсəəн, з̃əəликə тəхфиифумм-мир-рōббикум вəрōhмəh, фəмəни-'тəдəə бə'дə з̃əəликə фəлəhу 'əз̃əəбун əлиим
O you who have faith! Retribution is prescribed for you regarding the slain: freeman for freeman, slave for slave, and female for female. But if one is granted any extenuation by his brother, let the follow up [for the blood-money] be honourable, and let the payment to him be with kindness. That is a remission from your Lord and a mercy; and should anyone transgress after that, there shall be a painful punishment for him. -
2:180
كُتِبَ عَلَيْكُمْ إِذَا حَضَرَ أَحَدَكُمُ الْمَوْتُ إِن تَرَكَ خَيْرًا الْوَصِيَّةُ لِلْوَالِدَيْنِ وَالْأَقْرَبِينَ بِالْمَعْرُوفِ ۖ حَقًّا عَلَى الْمُتَّقِينَкутибə 'əлэйкум из̃əə həдōрō əhəдəкумуль-мəуту иŋŋ-тəрōкə хōйрōнль-вəсыййəту ли-ль-вəəлидəйни вəəль`əќрōбиинə би-ль-мə'рууф, həќќōн 'əлəəль-муттəќиин
Prescribed for you, when death approaches any of you and he leaves behind any property, is that he make a bequest for his parents and relatives, in an honourable manner—an obligation on the Godwary. -
2:181
فَمَن بَدَّلَهُ بَعْدَمَا سَمِعَهُ فَإِنَّمَا إِثْمُهُ عَلَى الَّذِينَ يُبَدِّلُونَهُ ۚ إِنَّ اللَّهَ سَمِيعٌ عَلِيمٌфəмəмм-бəддəлəhу бə'дəмəə сəми'əhу фə`иннəмəə иc̃муhу 'əлəəль-лəз̃иинə йубəддилююнəh, иннəл-лаhə сəмии'ун 'əлиим
And should anyone alter it after hearing it, its sin shall indeed lie on those who alter it. Indeed Allah is all-hearing, all-knowing.
