  • بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَـٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ

    бисмиль-лəhир-рōhмəəнир-рōhиим

    In the Name of Allah, the All-beneficent, the All-merciful.
  • 40:1

    حم

    Ха, мим.

    Ha, Meem.
  • 40:2

    تَنزِيلُ الْكِتَابِ مِنَ اللَّهِ الْعَزِيزِ الْعَلِيمِ

    тəŋŋзиилюль-китəəби минəл-лаhиль-'əзиизиль-'əлиим

    The [gradual] sending down of the Book is from Allah, the All-mighty, the All-knowing,
  • 40:3

    غَافِرِ الذَّنبِ وَقَابِلِ التَّوْبِ شَدِيدِ الْعِقَابِ ذِي الطَّوْلِ  ۖ لَا إِلَـٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ  ۖ إِلَيْهِ الْمَصِيرُ

    ґōōфириз̃-з̃əмм-би вəќōōбилит-тəуби шəдиидиль-'иќōōби з̃иит-тōуль, лəə илəəhə ильлəə hуу, илəйhиль-мəсыыр

    forgiver of sins and acceptor of repentance, severe in retribution, [yet] all-bountiful; there is no god except Him, [and] toward Him is the destination.
  • 40:4

    مَا يُجَادِلُ فِي آيَاتِ اللَّهِ إِلَّا الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا فَلَا يَغْرُرْكَ تَقَلُّبُهُمْ فِي الْبِلَادِ

    мəə йуджəəдилю фии əəйəəтиль-лəhи ильлəəль-лəз̃иинə кəфəруу фəлəə йəґруркə тəќōллюбуhум фииль-билəəд

    No one disputes the signs of Allah except the faithless. So do not be misled by their bustle in the towns.
  • 40:5

    كَذَّبَتْ قَبْلَهُمْ قَوْمُ نُوحٍ وَالْأَحْزَابُ مِن بَعْدِهِمْ  ۖ وَهَمَّتْ كُلُّ أُمَّةٍ بِرَسُولِهِمْ لِيَأْخُذُوهُ  ۖ وَجَادَلُوا بِالْبَاطِلِ لِيُدْحِضُوا بِهِ الْحَقَّ فَأَخَذْتُهُمْ  ۖ فَكَيْفَ كَانَ عِقَابِ

    кəз̃з̃əбəт ќōблəhум ќōуму нууhиу-вəəль`əhзəəбу мимм-бə'диhим, вəhəммəт куллю уммəтимм-бирōсуулиhим лийə`хуз̃ууh, вəджəəдəлюю би-ль-бəəтыли лийудhидуу биhиль-həќќō фə`əхōз̃туhум, фəкəйфə кəəнə 'иќōōб

    The people of Noah denied before them and the [heathen] factions [who came] after them. Every nation attempted to lay hands on their apostle, and disputed erroneously to refute the truth. Then I seized them; so how was My retribution?!
  • 40:6

    وَكَذَ‌ٰلِكَ حَقَّتْ كَلِمَتُ رَبِّكَ عَلَى الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا أَنَّهُمْ أَصْحَابُ النَّارِ

    вəкəз̃əəликə həќќōт кəлимəту рōббикə 'əлəəль-лəз̃иинə кəфəруу əннəhум əсhəəбун-нəəр

    That is how the word of your Lord became due concerning the faithless, that they shall be inmates of the Fire.
  • 40:7

    الَّذِينَ يَحْمِلُونَ الْعَرْشَ وَمَنْ حَوْلَهُ يُسَبِّحُونَ بِحَمْدِ رَبِّهِمْ وَيُؤْمِنُونَ بِهِ وَيَسْتَغْفِرُونَ لِلَّذِينَ آمَنُوا رَبَّنَا وَسِعْتَ كُلَّ شَيْءٍ رَّحْمَةً وَعِلْمًا فَاغْفِرْ لِلَّذِينَ تَابُوا وَاتَّبَعُوا سَبِيلَكَ وَقِهِمْ عَذَابَ الْجَحِيمِ

    əльлəз̃иинə йəhмилююнəль-'əршə вəмəн həулəhу йусəббиhуунə биhəмди рōббиhим вəйу`минуунə биhи вəйəстəґфируунə лильлəз̃иинə əəмəнуу рōббəнəə вəси'тə кульлə шэй`ир-рōhмəтəу-вə'ильмəн фəəґфир лильлəз̃иинə тəəбуу вəəттəбə'уу сəбиилəкə вəќиhим 'əз̃əəбəль-джəhиим

    Those who bear the Throne, and those who are around it, celebrate the praise of their Lord and have faith in Him, and they plead for forgiveness for the faithful: ‘Our Lord! You embrace all things in mercy and knowledge. So forgive those who repent and follow Your way and save them from the punishment of hell.
  • 40:8

    رَبَّنَا وَأَدْخِلْهُمْ جَنَّاتِ عَدْنٍ الَّتِي وَعَدتَّهُمْ وَمَن صَلَحَ مِنْ آبَائِهِمْ وَأَزْوَاجِهِمْ وَذُرِّيَّاتِهِمْ  ۚ إِنَّكَ أَنتَ الْعَزِيزُ الْحَكِيمُ

    рōббəнəə вə`əдхыльhум джəннəəти 'əднинль-лəтии вə'əттəhум вəмəŋŋ-сōлəhə мин əəбəə`иhим вə`əзвəəджиhим вəз̃урриййəəтиhим, иннəкə əŋŋтəль-'əзиизуль-həкиим

    Our Lord! Admit them into the Gardens of Eden, which You have promised them, along with whoever is righteous among their forebears, their spouses and their descendants. Indeed You are the All-mighty, the All-wise.
  • 40:9

    وَقِهِمُ السَّيِّئَاتِ  ۚ وَمَن تَقِ السَّيِّئَاتِ يَوْمَئِذٍ فَقَدْ رَحِمْتَهُ  ۚ وَذَ‌ٰلِكَ هُوَ الْفَوْزُ الْعَظِيمُ

    вəќиhимус-сəййи`əəт, вəмəŋŋ-тəќис-сəййи`əəти йəумə`из̃ин фəќōд рōhимтəh, вəз̃əəликə hувəль-фəузуль-'əз̃ыым

    Save them from the ills [of the Day of Retribution]; and whomever You save from the ills that day, You will have had mercy upon him, and that is the great triumph.’
  • 40:10

    إِنَّ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا يُنَادَوْنَ لَمَقْتُ اللَّهِ أَكْبَرُ مِن مَّقْتِكُمْ أَنفُسَكُمْ إِذْ تُدْعَوْنَ إِلَى الْإِيمَانِ فَتَكْفُرُونَ

    иннəль-лəз̃иинə кəфəруу йунəəдəунə лəмəќтул-лаhи əкбəру мимм-мəќтикум əŋŋфусəкум из̃ туд'əунə илəəль-иимəəни фəтəкфуруун

    It will be proclaimed to the faithless: ‘Surely, Allah’s outrage [towards you] is greater than your outrage towards yourselves, as you were invited to faith, but you disbelieved.’
  • 40:11

    قَالُوا رَبَّنَا أَمَتَّنَا اثْنَتَيْنِ وَأَحْيَيْتَنَا اثْنَتَيْنِ فَاعْتَرَفْنَا بِذُنُوبِنَا فَهَلْ إِلَىٰ خُرُوجٍ مِّن سَبِيلٍ

    ќōōлюю рōббəнəə əмəттəнəə-c̃нəтəйни вə`əhйəйтəнəə-c̃нəтəйни фəə'тəрōфнəə биз̃унуубинəə фəhəль илəə хурууджимм-миŋŋ-сəбииль

    They will say, ‘Our Lord! Twice did You make us die, and twice did You give us life. We admit our sins. Is there any way out [from this plight]?’
  • 40:12

    ذَ‌ٰلِكُم بِأَنَّهُ إِذَا دُعِيَ اللَّهُ وَحْدَهُ كَفَرْتُمْ  ۖ وَإِن يُشْرَكْ بِهِ تُؤْمِنُوا  ۚ فَالْحُكْمُ لِلَّهِ الْعَلِيِّ الْكَبِيرِ

    з̃əəликумм-би`əннəhу из̃əə ду'ийəл-лаhу вəhдəhу кəфəртум, вə`ий-йушрōк биhи ту`минуу, фəəльhукму лильлəhиль-'əлиййиль-кəбиир

    [They will be told,] ‘This [plight of yours] is because, when Allah was invoked alone, you would disbelieve, but if partners were ascribed to Him you would believe. So the judgment belongs to Allah, the All-exalted, the All-great.’
  • 40:13

    هُوَ الَّذِي يُرِيكُمْ آيَاتِهِ وَيُنَزِّلُ لَكُم مِّنَ السَّمَاءِ رِزْقًا  ۚ وَمَا يَتَذَكَّرُ إِلَّا مَن يُنِيبُ

    hувəль-лəз̃ии йуриикум əəйəəтиhи вəйунəззилю лəкум-минəс-сəмəə`и ризќō, вəмəə йəтəз̃əккəру ильлəə мəй-йунииб

    It is He who shows you His signs and sends down provision for you from the sky. Yet no one takes admonition except those who return penitently [to Allah].
  • 40:14

    فَادْعُوا اللَّهَ مُخْلِصِينَ لَهُ الدِّينَ وَلَوْ كَرِهَ الْكَافِرُونَ

    фəəд'уул-лаhə мухлисыынə лəhуд-диинə вəлəу кəриhəль-кəəфируун

    So supplicate Allah, putting exclusive faith in Him, though the faithless should be averse.
  • 40:15

    رَفِيعُ الدَّرَجَاتِ ذُو الْعَرْشِ يُلْقِي الرُّوحَ مِنْ أَمْرِهِ عَلَىٰ مَن يَشَاءُ مِنْ عِبَادِهِ لِيُنذِرَ يَوْمَ التَّلَاقِ

    рōфии'уд-дəрōджəəти з̃ууль-'əрши йульќиир-рууhə мин əмриhи 'əлəə мəй-йəшəə`у мин 'ибəəдиhи лийуŋŋз̃ирō йəумəт-тəлəəќ

    Raiser of ranks, Lord of the Throne, He casts the Spirit of His command upon whomever of His servants that He wishes, that he may warn [people] of the Day of Encounter.
  • 40:16

    يَوْمَ هُم بَارِزُونَ  ۖ لَا يَخْفَىٰ عَلَى اللَّهِ مِنْهُمْ شَيْءٌ  ۚ لِّمَنِ الْمُلْكُ الْيَوْمَ  ۖ لِلَّهِ الْوَاحِدِ الْقَهَّارِ

    йəумə hумм-бəəризуун, лəə йəхфəə 'əлəл-лаhи минhум шэй, лимəниль-мулькуль-йəум, лильлəhиль-вəəhидиль-ќōhhəəр

    The day when they will emerge [from their graves], nothing about them will be hidden from Allah. ‘To whom does the sovereignty belong today?’ ‘To Allah, the One, the All-paramount!’
  • 40:17

    الْيَوْمَ تُجْزَىٰ كُلُّ نَفْسٍ بِمَا كَسَبَتْ  ۚ لَا ظُلْمَ الْيَوْمَ  ۚ إِنَّ اللَّهَ سَرِيعُ الْحِسَابِ

    əльйəумə туджзəə куллю нəфсимм-бимəə кəсəбəт, лəə з̃ульмəль-йəум, иннəл-лаhə сəрии'уль-hисəəб

    ‘Today every soul shall be requited for what it has earned. There will be no injustice today. Indeed Allah is swift at reckoning.’
  • 40:18

    وَأَنذِرْهُمْ يَوْمَ الْآزِفَةِ إِذِ الْقُلُوبُ لَدَى الْحَنَاجِرِ كَاظِمِينَ  ۚ مَا لِلظَّالِمِينَ مِنْ حَمِيمٍ وَلَا شَفِيعٍ يُطَاعُ

    вə`əŋŋз̃ирhум йəумəль-əəзифəти из̃иль-ќулююбу лəдəəль-həнəəджири кəəз̃ымиин, мəə лиз̃-з̃ōōлимиинə мин həмиимиу-вəлəə шəфии'ий-йутōō'

    Warn them of the Approaching Day, when the hearts will be at the throats, choking with suppressed agony, [and] the wrongdoers will have no sympathizer, nor any intercessor who might be heard.
  • 40:19

    يَعْلَمُ خَائِنَةَ الْأَعْيُنِ وَمَا تُخْفِي الصُّدُورُ

    йə'лəму хōō`инəтəль-ə'йуни вəмəə тухфиис-судуур

    He knows the treachery of the eyes, and what the breasts hide.
  • 40:20

    وَاللَّهُ يَقْضِي بِالْحَقِّ  ۖ وَالَّذِينَ يَدْعُونَ مِن دُونِهِ لَا يَقْضُونَ بِشَيْءٍ  ۗ إِنَّ اللَّهَ هُوَ السَّمِيعُ الْبَصِيرُ

    вəл-лаhу йəќдыы би-ль-həќќ, вəəльлəз̃иинə йəд'уунə миŋŋ-дууниhи лəə йəќдуунə бишəй, иннəл-лаhə hувəс-сəмии'уль-бəсыыр

    Allah judges with justice, while those whom they invoke besides Him do not judge by anything. Indeed it is Allah who is the All-hearing, the All-seeing.
