surah091

وَٱلشَّمْسِ وَضُحَـٰهَا١

вə шшəмси вəдуhəəhəə

By the sun and her forenoon splendour,

وَٱلْقَمَرِ إِذَا تَلَـٰهَا٢

вəəльќōмəри из̃əə тəлəəhəə

by the moon when he follows her,

وَٱلنَّهَارِ إِذَا جَلَّـٰهَا٣

вə ннəhəəри из̃əə джəльлəəhəə

by the day when it reveals her,

وَٱلَّيْلِ إِذَا يَغْشَـٰهَا٤

вə льлэйли из̃əə йəґшəəhəə

by the night when it covers her,

وَٱلسَّمَآءِ وَمَا بَنَـٰهَا٥

вə ссəмəə'и вəмəə бəнəəhəə

by the sky and Him who built it,

وَٱلْأَرْضِ وَمَا طَحَـٰهَا٦

вəəльəрды вəмəə т̣ōhəəhəə

by the earth and Him who spread it,

وَنَفْسٍ وَمَا سَوَّٮٰهَا٧

вəнəфсиу-вəмəə сəувəəhəə

by the soul and Him who fashioned it,

فَأَلْهَمَهَا فُجُورَهَا وَتَقْوَٮٰهَا٨

фəəльhəмəhəə фуджуурōhəə вəтəќвəəhəə

and inspired it with [discernment between] its virtues and vices:

قَدْ أَفْلَحَ مَن زَكَّـٰهَا٩

ќōд əфлəhə мəӈ-зəккəəhəə

one who purifies it is felicitous,

وَقَدْ خَابَ مَن دَسَّـٰهَا١٠

вəќōд хōōбə мəӈ-дəссəəhəə

and one who betrays it fails.

كَذَّبَتْ ثَمُودُ بِطَغْوَٮٰهَآ١١

кəз̃з̃əбəт c̃əмууду бит̣ōґвəəhəə

The [people of] Thamud denied [Allah’s signs] out of their rebellion,

إِذِ ٱنۢبَعَثَ أَشْقَـٰهَا١٢

из̃и-мм-бə'əc̃ə əшќōōhəə

when the most wretched of them rose up.

فَقَالَ لَهُمْ رَسُولُ ٱللَّهِ نَاقَةَ ٱللَّهِ وَسُقْيَـٰهَا١٣

фəќōōлə лəhум рōсуулю ллаhи нəəќōтə ллаhи вəсуќйəəhəə

The apostle of Allah had told them, ‘This is Allah’s she-camel, let her drink!’

فَكَذَّبُوهُ فَعَقَرُوهَا فَدَمْدَمَ عَلَيْهِمْ رَبُّهُم بِذَنۢبِهِمْ فَسَوَّٮٰهَا١٤

фəкəз̃з̃əбууhу фə'əќōрууhəə фəдəмдəмə 'əлэйhим рōббуhумм-биз̃əмм-биhим фəсəувəəhəə

But they impugned him and hamstrung her. So their Lord took them unawares by night because of their sin, and levelled it.

وَلَا يَخَافُ عُقْبَـٰهَا١٥

вəлəə йəхōōфу 'уќбəəhəə

And He does not fear its outcome.
