Inshiqaq (Sundering)

  • بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَـٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ

    бисмиль-лəhир-рōhмəəнир-рōhиим

    In the Name of Allah, the All-beneficent, the All-merciful.
  • 84:1

    إِذَا السَّمَاءُ انشَقَّتْ

    из̃əəс-сəмəə`у-ŋŋшəќќōт

    When the sky is split open
  • 84:2

    وَأَذِنَتْ لِرَبِّهَا وَحُقَّتْ

    вə`əз̃инəт лирōббиhəə вəhуќќōт

    and gives ear to its Lord as it should.
  • 84:3

    وَإِذَا الْأَرْضُ مُدَّتْ

    вə`из̃əəль-əрду муддəт

    When the earth is spread out
  • 84:4

    وَأَلْقَتْ مَا فِيهَا وَتَخَلَّتْ

    вə`əльќōт мəə фииhəə вəтəхōльлəт

    and throws out what is in it, emptying itself,
  • 84:5

    وَأَذِنَتْ لِرَبِّهَا وَحُقَّتْ

    вə`əз̃инəт лирōббиhəə вəhуќќōт

    and gives ear to its Lord as it should.
  • 84:6

    يَا أَيُّهَا الْإِنسَانُ إِنَّكَ كَادِحٌ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ كَدْحًا فَمُلَاقِيهِ

    йəə əййуhəəль-иŋŋсəəну иннəкə кəəдиhун илəə рōббикə кəдhəн фəмулəəќииh

    O man! You are labouring toward your Lord laboriously, and you will encounter Him.
  • 84:7

    فَأَمَّا مَنْ أُوتِيَ كِتَابَهُ بِيَمِينِهِ

    фə`əммəə мəн уутийə китəəбəhу бийəмииниh

    Then, as for him who is given his record [of deeds] in his right hand,
  • 84:8

    فَسَوْفَ يُحَاسَبُ حِسَابًا يَسِيرًا

    фəсəуфə йуhəəсəбу hисəəбəй-йəсиирō

    he will receive an easy reckoning,
  • 84:9

    وَيَنقَلِبُ إِلَىٰ أَهْلِهِ مَسْرُورًا

    вəйəŋŋќōлибу илəə əhлиhи мəсруурō

    and he will return to his folks joyfully.
  • 84:10

    وَأَمَّا مَنْ أُوتِيَ كِتَابَهُ وَرَاءَ ظَهْرِهِ

    вə`əммəə мəн уутийə китəəбəhу вəрōō`ə з̃ōhриh

    But as for him who is given his record from behind his back,
  • 84:11

    فَسَوْفَ يَدْعُو ثُبُورًا

    фəсəуфə йəд'уу c̃убуурō

    he will pray for annihilation
  • 84:12

    وَيَصْلَىٰ سَعِيرًا

    вəйəслəə сə'иирō

    and enter the Blaze.
  • 84:13

    إِنَّهُ كَانَ فِي أَهْلِهِ مَسْرُورًا

    иннəhу кəəнə фии əhлиhи мəсруурō

    Indeed he used to be joyful among his folk,
  • 84:14

    إِنَّهُ ظَنَّ أَن لَّن يَحُورَ

    иннəhу з̃ōннə əль-лэй-йəhуур

    and he thought that he would never return.
  • 84:15

    بَلَىٰ إِنَّ رَبَّهُ كَانَ بِهِ بَصِيرًا

    бəлəə иннə рōббəhу кəəнə биhи бəсыырō

    Yes, his Lord had been watching him.
  • 84:16

    فَلَا أُقْسِمُ بِالشَّفَقِ

    фəлəə уќсиму биш-шəфəќ

    I swear by the evening glow,
  • 84:17

    وَاللَّيْلِ وَمَا وَسَقَ

    вəль-лэйли вəмəə вəсəќ

    by the night and what it is fraught with,
  • 84:18

    وَالْقَمَرِ إِذَا اتَّسَقَ

    вəəльќōмəри из̃əə-ттəсəќ

    by the moon when it blooms full:
  • 84:19

    لَتَرْكَبُنَّ طَبَقًا عَن طَبَقٍ

    лəтəркəбуннə тōбəќōн 'əŋŋ-тōбəќ

    you will surely fare from stage to stage.
  • 84:20

    فَمَا لَهُمْ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ

    фəмəə лəhум лəə йу`минуун

    What is the matter with them that they will not believe,
