  • بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَـٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ

    бисмиль-лəhир-рōhмəəнир-рōhиим

    In the Name of Allah, the All-beneficent, the All-merciful.
  • 86:1

    وَالسَّمَاءِ وَالطَّارِقِ

    вəс-сəмəə`и вəт-тōōриќ

    By the heaven, and by the nightly visitor
  • 86:2

    وَمَا أَدْرَاكَ مَا الطَّارِقُ

    вəмəə əдрōōкə мəəт-тōōриќ

    (and what will show you what is the nightly visitor?
  • 86:3

    النَّجْمُ الثَّاقِبُ

    əннəджмуc̃-c̃əəќиб

    It is the brilliant star):
  • 86:4

    إِن كُلُّ نَفْسٍ لَّمَّا عَلَيْهَا حَافِظٌ

    иŋŋ-куллю нəфсиль-лəммəə 'əлэйhəə həəфиз̃

    there is a guard over every soul.
  • 86:5

    فَلْيَنظُرِ الْإِنسَانُ مِمَّ خُلِقَ

    фəльйəŋŋз̃уриль-иŋŋсəəну миммə хулиќ

    So let man consider from what he was created.
  • 86:6

    خُلِقَ مِن مَّاءٍ دَافِقٍ

    хулиќō мимм-мəə`ин дəəфиќ

    He was created from an effusing fluid
  • 86:7

    يَخْرُجُ مِن بَيْنِ الصُّلْبِ وَالتَّرَائِبِ

    йəхруджу мимм-бэйнис-сульби вəт-тəрōō`иб

    which issues from between the loins and the breast-bones.
  • 86:8

    إِنَّهُ عَلَىٰ رَجْعِهِ لَقَادِرٌ

    иннəhу 'əлəə рōдж'иhи лəќōōдир

    Indeed He is able to bring him back [after death],
  • 86:9

    يَوْمَ تُبْلَى السَّرَائِرُ

    йəумə тублəəс-сəрōō`ир

    on the day when the secrets are examined
  • 86:10

    فَمَا لَهُ مِن قُوَّةٍ وَلَا نَاصِرٍ

    фəмəə лəhу миŋŋ-ќуувəтиу-вəлəə нəəсыр

    and he shall have neither power nor helper.
  • 86:11

    وَالسَّمَاءِ ذَاتِ الرَّجْعِ

    вəс-сəмəə`и з̃əəтир-рōдж'

    By the resurgent heaven,
  • 86:12

    وَالْأَرْضِ ذَاتِ الصَّدْعِ

    вəəль`əрды з̃əəтис-сōд'

    and by the furrowed earth:
  • 86:13

    إِنَّهُ لَقَوْلٌ فَصْلٌ

    иннəhу лəќōулюн фəсль

    it is indeed a conclusive discourse,
  • 86:14

    وَمَا هُوَ بِالْهَزْلِ

    вəмəə hувə би-ль-həзль

    and not a jest.
  • 86:15

    إِنَّهُمْ يَكِيدُونَ كَيْدًا

    иннəhум йəкиидуунə кəйдə

    Indeed they are devising a stratagem,
  • 86:16

    وَأَكِيدُ كَيْدًا

    вə`əкииду кəйдə

    and I [too] am devising a plan.
  • 86:17

    فَمَهِّلِ الْكَافِرِينَ أَمْهِلْهُمْ رُوَيْدًا

    фəмəhhилиль-кəəфириинə əмhильhум рувəйдə

    So respite the faithless; give them a gentle respite.
