surah052

وَٱلطُّورِ١

вə т̣т̣уур

By the Mount [Sinai],

وَكِتَـٰبٍ مَّسْطُورٍ٢

вəкитəəбимм-мəст̣уур

by the Book inscribed

فِى رَقٍّ مَّنشُورٍ٣

фии рōќќимм-мəӈшуур

on an unrolled parchment;

وَٱلْبَيْتِ ٱلْمَعْمُورِ٤

вəəльбəйтиль-мə'муур

by the House greatly frequented;

وَٱلسَّقْفِ ٱلْمَرْفُوعِ٥

вə ссəќфиль-мəрфуу'

by the vault raised high,

وَٱلْبَحْرِ ٱلْمَسْجُورِ٦

вəəльбəhриль-мəсджуур

by the surging sea:

إِنَّ عَذَابَ رَبِّكَ لَوَٲقِعٌ٧

иннə 'əз̃əəбə рōббикə лəвəəќи'

indeed your Lord’s punishment will surely befall.

مَّا لَهُۥ مِن دَافِعٍ٨

мəə лəhу миӈ-дəəфи'

There is none who can avert it.

يَوْمَ تَمُورُ ٱلسَّمَآءُ مَوْرًا٩

йəумə тəмууру ссəмəə'у мəурō

On the day when the sky whirls violently,

وَتَسِيرُ ٱلْجِبَالُ سَيْرًا١٠

вəтəсиируль-джибəəлю сəйрō

and the mountains move with an awful motion:

فَوَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ١١

фəвəйлюй-йəумə'из̃ил-ли-ль-мукəз̃з̃ибиин

woe to the deniers on that day

ٱلَّذِينَ هُمْ فِى خَوْضٍ يَلْعَبُونَ١٢

əль-лəз̃иинə hум фии хōудый-йəль'əбуун

—those who play around in vain talk,

يَوْمَ يُدَعُّونَ إِلَىٰ نَارِ جَهَنَّمَ دَعًّا١٣

йəумə йудə''уунə илəə нəəри джəhəннəмə дə''ə

the day when they will be shoved forcibly toward the fire of hell, [and told:]

هَـٰذِهِ ٱلنَّارُ ٱلَّتِى كُنتُم بِهَا تُكَذِّبُونَ١٤

həəз̃иhи ннəəру льлəтии куӈтумм-биhəə тукəз̃з̃ибуун

‘This is the Fire which you used to deny!

أَفَسِحْرٌ هَـٰذَآ أَمْ أَنتُمْ لَا تُبْصِرُونَ١٥

əфəсиhрун həəз̃əə əм əӈтум лəə тубсыруун

Is this, then, [also] magic, or is it you who do not perceive?

ٱصْلَوْهَا فَٱصْبِرُوٓاْ أَوْ لَا تَصْبِرُواْ سَوَآءٌ عَلَيْكُمْ‌ۖ إِنَّمَا تُجْزَوْنَ مَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ١٦

ислəуhəə фəəсбируу əу лəə тəсбируу сəвəə'ун 'əлэйкум, иннəмəə туджзəунə мəə куӈтум тə'мəлююн

Enter it, and it will be the same for you whether you are patient or impatient. You are only being requited for what you used to do.’

إِنَّ ٱلْمُتَّقِينَ فِى جَنَّـٰتٍ وَنَعِيمٍ١٧

иннəль-муттəќиинə фии джəннəəтиу-вəнə'иим

Indeed the Godwary will be amid gardens and bliss,

فَـٰكِهِينَ بِمَآ ءَاتَـٰهُمْ رَبُّهُمْ وَوَقَـٰهُمْ رَبُّهُمْ عَذَابَ ٱلْجَحِيمِ١٨

фəəкиhиинə бимəə əəтəəhум рōббуhум вəвəќōōhум рōббуhум 'əз̃əəбəль-джəhиим

rejoicing because of what their Lord has given them, and that their Lord has saved them from the punishment of hell.

كُلُواْ وَٱشْرَبُواْ هَنِيٓـــَٔۢا بِمَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ١٩

кулюю вəəшрōбуу həнии'əмм-бимəə куӈтум тə'мəлююн

[They will be told:] ‘Enjoy your food and drink, [as a reward] for what you used to do.’

مُتَّكِــِٔينَ عَلَىٰ سُرُرٍ مَّصْفُوفَةٍ‌ۖ وَزَوَّجْنَـٰهُم بِحُورٍ عِينٍ٢٠

муттəки'иинə 'əлəə суруримм-мəсфууфəh, вəзəувəджнəəhумм-биhуурин 'иин

They will be reclining on arrayed couches, and We will wed them to big-eyed houris.

وَٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ وَٱتَّبَعَتْهُمْ ذُرِّيَّتُهُم بِإِيمَـٰنٍ أَلْحَقْنَا بِهِمْ ذُرِّيَّتَهُمْ وَمَآ أَلَتْنَـٰهُم مِّنْ عَمَلِهِم مِّن شَىْءٍ‌ۚ كُلُّ ٱمْرِىِٕۭ بِمَا كَسَبَ رَهِينٌ٢١

вəль-лəз̃иинə əəмəнуу вəəттəбə'əтhум з̃урриййəтуhумм-бииимəəнин əльhəќнəə биhим з̃урриййəтəhум вəмəə əлəтнəəhум-мин 'əмəлиhим-миӈ-шэй', куллю-мри'имм-бимəə кəсəбə рōhиин

The faithful and their descendants who followed them in faith—We will make their descendants join them, and We will not stint anything from [the reward of] their deeds. Every person is hostage to what he has earned.

وَأَمْدَدْنَـٰهُم بِفَـٰكِهَةٍ وَلَحْمٍ مِّمَّا يَشْتَهُونَ٢٢

вəəмдəднəəhумм-бифəəкиhəтиу-вəлəhмимм-миммəə йəштəhуун

We will provide them with fruits and meat, such as they desire.

يَتَنَـٰزَعُونَ فِيهَا كَأْسًا لَّا لَغْوٌ فِيهَا وَلَا تَأْثِيمٌ٢٣

йəтəнəəзə'уунə фииhəə кəсəль-лəə лəґвун фииhəə вəлəə тəc̃иим

There they will pass from hand to hand a cup wherein there will be neither any vain talk nor sinful speech.

وَيَطُوفُ عَلَيْهِمْ غِلْمَانٌ لَّهُمْ كَأَنَّهُمْ لُؤْلُؤٌ مَّكْنُونٌ٢٤

вəйəт̣ууфу 'əлэйhим ґильмəəнуль-лəhум кəəннəhум лю'лю'умм-мəкнуун

They will be waited upon by their youths, as if they were guarded pearls.

وَأَقْبَلَ بَعْضُهُمْ عَلَىٰ بَعْضٍ يَتَسَآءَلُونَ٢٥

вəəќбəлə бə'дуhум 'əлəə бə'дый-йəтəсəə'əлююн

They will turn to one another, questioning each other.

قَالُوٓاْ إِنَّا كُنَّا قَبْلُ فِىٓ أَهْلِنَا مُشْفِقِينَ٢٦

ќōōлюю иннəə куннəə ќōблю фии əhлинəə мушфиќиин

They will say, ‘Indeed, aforetime, we used to be apprehensive about our families.

فَمَنَّ ٱللَّهُ عَلَيْنَا وَوَقَـٰنَا عَذَابَ ٱلسَّمُومِ٢٧

фəмəннə ллаhу 'əлэйнəə вəвəќōōнəə 'əз̃əəбə ссəмуум

But Allah showed us favour and He saved us from the punishment of the [infernal] miasma.

إِنَّا كُنَّا مِن قَبْلُ نَدْعُوهُ‌ۖ إِنَّهُۥ هُوَ ٱلْبَرُّ ٱلرَّحِيمُ٢٨

иннəə куннəə миӈ-ќōблю нəд'ууh, иннəhу hувəль-бəрру ррōhиим

We used to supplicate Him aforetime. Indeed He is the All-benign, the All-merciful.’

فَذَكِّرْ فَمَآ أَنتَ بِنِعْمَتِ رَبِّكَ بِكَاهِنٍ وَلَا مَجْنُونٍ٢٩

фəз̃əккир фəмəə əӈтə бини'мəти рōббикə бикəəhиниу-вəлəə мəджнуун

So admonish. By your Lord’s blessing, you are not a soothsayer, nor mad.

أَمْ يَقُولُونَ شَاعِرٌ نَّتَرَبَّصُ بِهِۦ رَيْبَ ٱلْمَنُونِ٣٠

əм йəќуулююнə шəə'ирун-ннəтəрōббəсу биhи рōйбəль-мəнуун

Do they say, ‘[He is] a poet, for whom we await a fatal accident’?

قُلْ تَرَبَّصُواْ فَإِنِّى مَعَكُم مِّنَ ٱلْمُتَرَبِّصِينَ٣١

ќуль тəрōббəсуу фəиннии мə'əкум-минəль-мутəрōббисыын

Say, ‘Wait! I too am waiting along with you.’

أَمْ تَأْمُرُهُمْ أَحْلَـٰمُهُم بِهَـٰذَآ‌ۚ أَمْ هُمْ قَوْمٌ طَاغُونَ٣٢

əм тəмуруhум əhлəəмуhумм-биhəəз̃əə, əм hум ќōумун т̣ōōґуун

Is it their intellect which prompts them to [say] this, or are they a rebellious lot?

أَمْ يَقُولُونَ تَقَوَّلَهُۥ‌ۚ بَل لَّا يُؤْمِنُونَ٣٣

əм йəќуулююнə тəќōувəлəh, бəль-лəə йу'минуун

Do they say, ‘He has improvised it [himself]?’ Rather, they have no faith!

فَلْيَأْتُواْ بِحَدِيثٍ مِّثْلِهِۦٓ إِن كَانُواْ صَـٰدِقِينَ٣٤

фəльйəтуу биhəдииc̃имм-миc̃лиhи иӈ-кəəнуу сōōдиќиин

Let them bring a discourse like it, if they are truthful.

أَمْ خُلِقُواْ مِنْ غَيْرِ شَىْءٍ أَمْ هُمُ ٱلْخَـٰلِقُونَ٣٥

əм хулиќуу мин ґōйри шэй'ин əм hумуль-хōōлиќуун

Were they created from nothing? Or are they [their own] creators?

أَمْ خَلَقُواْ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٲتِ وَٱلْأَرْضَ‌ۚ بَل لَّا يُوقِنُونَ٣٦

əм хōлəќуу ссəмəəвəəти вəəльəрд, бəль-лəə йууќинуун

Did they create the heavens and the earth? Rather, they have no certainty!

أَمْ عِندَهُمْ خَزَآئِنُ رَبِّكَ أَمْ هُمُ ٱلْمُصَۣيْطِرُونَ٣٧

əм 'иӈдəhум хōзəə'ину рōббикə əм hумуль-мусōйт̣ыруун

Do they possess the treasuries of your Lord? Or do they control [them]?

أَمْ لَهُمْ سُلَّمٌ يَسْتَمِعُونَ فِيهِ‌ۖ فَلْيَأْتِ مُسْتَمِعُهُم بِسُلْطَـٰنٍ مُّبِينٍ٣٨

əм лəhум сульлəмуй-йəстəми'уунə фииh, фəльйəти мустəми'уhумм-бисульт̣ōōнимм-мубиин

Do they have a ladder [leading up to heaven] whereby they eavesdrop? If so, let their eavesdropper produce a manifest authority.

أَمْ لَهُ ٱلْبَنَـٰتُ وَلَكُمُ ٱلْبَنُونَ٣٩

əм лəhуль-бəнəəту вəлəкумуль-бəнуун

Does He have daughters while you have sons?

أَمْ تَسْــَٔلُهُمْ أَجْرًا فَهُم مِّن مَّغْرَمٍ مُّثْقَلُونَ٤٠

əм тəсəлюhум əджрōн фəhум-мимм-мəґрōмимм-муc̃ќōлююн

Do you ask them for a reward, so that they are [wary of] being weighed down with debt?

أَمْ عِندَهُمُ ٱلْغَيْبُ فَهُمْ يَكْتُبُونَ٤١

əм 'иӈдəhумуль-ґōйбу фəhум йəктубуун

Do they have [access to] the Unseen, which they write down?

أَمْ يُرِيدُونَ كَيْدًا‌ۖ فَٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ هُمُ ٱلْمَكِيدُونَ٤٢

əм йуриидуунə кəйдə, фəəль-лəз̃иинə кəфəруу hумуль-мəкиидуун

Do they seek to outmaneuver [Allah]? But it is the faithless who are the outmaneuvered ones!

أَمْ لَهُمْ إِلَـٰهٌ غَيْرُ ٱللَّهِ‌ۚ سُبْحَـٰنَ ٱللَّهِ عَمَّا يُشْرِكُونَ٤٣

əм лəhум илəəhун ґōйру ллаh, субhəəнə ллаhи 'əммəə йушрикуун

Do they have any god other than Allah? Clear is Allah of any partners that they may ascribe [to Him]!

وَإِن يَرَوْاْ كِسْفًا مِّنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ سَاقِطًا يَقُولُواْ سَحَابٌ مَّرْكُومٌ٤٤

вəий-йəрōу кисфəмм-минə ссəмəə'и сəəќит̣ōй-йəќуулюю сəhəəбумм-мəркуум

Were they to see a fragment falling from the sky, they would say, ‘A cumulous cloud.’

فَذَرْهُمْ حَتَّىٰ يُلَـٰقُواْ يَوْمَهُمُ ٱلَّذِى فِيهِ يُصْعَقُونَ٤٥

фəз̃əрhум həттəə йулəəќуу йəумəhуму льлəз̃ии фииhи йус'əќуун

So leave them until they encounter the day when they will be thunderstruck,

يَوْمَ لَا يُغْنِى عَنْهُمْ كَيْدُهُمْ شَيْــًٔا وَلَا هُمْ يُنصَرُونَ٤٦

йəумə лəə йуґнии 'əнhум кəйдуhум шэй'əу-вəлəə hум йуӈсōруун

the day when their guile will not avail them in any way, nor will they be helped.

وَإِنَّ لِلَّذِينَ ظَلَمُواْ عَذَابًا دُونَ ذَٲلِكَ وَلَـٰكِنَّ أَكْثَرَهُمْ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ٤٧

вəиннə лильлəз̃иинə з̃ōлəмуу 'əз̃əəбəн дуунə з̃əəликə вəлəəкиннə əкc̃əрōhум лəə йə'лəмуун

Indeed there is a punishment besides that for those who do wrong, but most of them do not know.

وَٱصْبِرْ لِحُكْمِ رَبِّكَ فَإِنَّكَ بِأَعْيُنِنَا‌ۖ وَسَبِّحْ بِحَمْدِ رَبِّكَ حِينَ تَقُومُ٤٨

вəəсбир лиhукми рōббикə фəиннəкə биə'йунинəə, вəсəббиh биhəмди рōббикə hиинə тəќуум

So submit patiently to the judgement of your Lord, for indeed you fare before Our eyes. And celebrate the praise of your Lord when you rise [at dawn],

وَمِنَ ٱلَّيْلِ فَسَبِّحْهُ وَإِدْبَـٰرَ ٱلنُّجُومِ٤٩

вəминə льлэйли фəсəббиhhу вəидбəəрō ннуджуум

and also glorify Him during the night and at the receding of the stars.
