surah083

وَيْلٌ لِّلْمُطَفِّفِينَ١

вəйлюл-ли-ль-мут̣ōффифиин

Woe to the defrauders, who use short measures,

ٱلَّذِينَ إِذَا ٱكْتَالُواْ عَلَى ٱلنَّاسِ يَسْتَوْفُونَ٢

əль-лəз̃иинə из̃əə-ктəəлюю 'əлəə ннəəси йəстəуфуун

who, when they measure [a commodity bought] from the people, take the full measure,

وَإِذَا كَالُوهُمْ أَو وَّزَنُوهُمْ يُخْسِرُونَ٣

вəиз̃əə кəəлююhум əу-вəзəнууhум йухсируун

but diminish when they measure or weigh for them.

أَلَا يَظُنُّ أُوْلَـٰٓئِكَ أَنَّهُم مَّبْعُوثُونَ٤

əлəə йəз̃унну уулəə'икə əннəhум-мəб'ууc̃уун

Do they not know that they will be resurrected

لِيَوْمٍ عَظِيمٍ٥

лийəумин 'əз̃ыым

on a tremendous day,

يَوْمَ يَقُومُ ٱلنَّاسُ لِرَبِّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ٦

йəумə йəќууму ннəəсу лирōббиль-'əəлəмиин

a day when mankind will stand before the Lord of all the worlds?

كَلَّآ إِنَّ كِتَـٰبَ ٱلْفُجَّارِ لَفِى سِجِّينٍ٧

кəльлəə иннə китəəбəль-фуджджəəри лəфии сиджджиин

Indeed, the record of the vicious is in Sijjeen.

وَمَآ أَدْرَٮٰكَ مَا سِجِّينٌ٨

вəмəə əдрōōкə мəə сиджджиин

And what will show you what is Sijjeen?

كِتَـٰبٌ مَّرْقُومٌ٩

китəəбумм-мəрќуум

It is a written record.

وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ١٠

вəйлюй-йəумə'из̃ил-ли-ль-мукəз̃з̃ибиин

Woe to the deniers on that day,

ٱلَّذِينَ يُكَذِّبُونَ بِيَوْمِ ٱلدِّينِ١١

əль-лəз̃иинə йукəз̃з̃ибуунə бийəумид-диин

who deny the Day of Retribution;

وَمَا يُكَذِّبُ بِهِۦٓ إِلَّا كُلُّ مُعْتَدٍ أَثِيمٍ١٢

вəмəə йукəз̃з̃ибу биhи ильлəə куллю му'тəдин əc̃иим

and none denies it except every sinful transgressor.

إِذَا تُتْلَىٰ عَلَيْهِ ءَايَـٰتُنَا قَالَ أَسَـٰطِيرُ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ١٣

из̃əə тутлəə 'əлэйhи əəйəəтунəə ќōōлə əсəəт̣ыыруль-əувəлиин

When Our signs are recited to him, he says, ‘Myths of the ancients!’

كَلَّا‌ۖ بَلْۜ رَانَ عَلَىٰ قُلُوبِهِم مَّا كَانُواْ يَكْسِبُونَ١٤

кəльлəə, бəль рōōнə 'əлəə ќулююбиhим-мəə кəəнуу йəксибуун

No, that is not the case! Rather, their hearts have been sullied by what they have been earning.

كَلَّآ إِنَّهُمْ عَن رَّبِّهِمْ يَوْمَئِذٍ لَّمَحْجُوبُونَ١٥

кəльлəə иннəhум 'əр-рōббиhим йəумə'из̃иль-лəмəhджуубуун

Indeed, they will be alienated from their Lord on that day.

ثُمَّ إِنَّهُمْ لَصَالُواْ ٱلْجَحِيمِ١٦

c̃уммə иннəhум лəсōōлююль-джəhиим

Afterward they will enter hell,

ثُمَّ يُقَالُ هَـٰذَا ٱلَّذِى كُنتُم بِهِۦ تُكَذِّبُونَ١٧

c̃уммə йуќōōлю həəз̃əə льлəз̃ии куӈтумм-биhи тукəз̃з̃ибуун

then told, ‘This is what you used to deny!’

كَلَّآ إِنَّ كِتَـٰبَ ٱلْأَبْرَارِ لَفِى عِلِّيِّينَ١٨

кəльлəə иннə китəəбəль-əбрōōри лəфии 'иллиййиин

Indeed, the record of the pious is in Illeeyun.

وَمَآ أَدْرَٮٰكَ مَا عِلِّيُّونَ١٩

вəмəə əдрōōкə мəə 'иллиййуун

And what will show you what is Illeeyun?

كِتَـٰبٌ مَّرْقُومٌ٢٠

китəəбумм-мəрќуум

It is a written record,

يَشْهَدُهُ ٱلْمُقَرَّبُونَ٢١

йəшhəдуhуль-муќōррōбуун

witnessed by those brought near [to Allah].

إِنَّ ٱلْأَبْرَارَ لَفِى نَعِيمٍ٢٢

иннəль-əбрōōрō лəфии нə'иим

The pious shall be amid bliss,

عَلَى ٱلْأَرَآئِكِ يَنظُرُونَ٢٣

'əлəəль-əрōō'ики йəӈз̃уруун

observing, [as they recline] on couches.

تَعْرِفُ فِى وُجُوهِهِمْ نَضْرَةَ ٱلنَّعِيمِ٢٤

тə'рифу фии вуджууhиhим нəдрōтə ннə'иим

You will perceive in their faces the freshness of bliss.

يُسْقَوْنَ مِن رَّحِيقٍ مَّخْتُومٍ٢٥

йусќōунə мир-рōhииќимм-мəхтуум

They will be served with a sealed pure wine,

خِتَـٰمُهُۥ مِسْكٌ‌ۚ وَفِى ذَٲلِكَ فَلْيَتَنَافَسِ ٱلْمُتَنَـٰفِسُونَ٢٦

хытəəмуhу миск, вəфии з̃əəликə фəльйəтəнəəфəсиль-мутəнəəфисуун

whose seal is musk—for such let the viers vie—

وَمِزَاجُهُۥ مِن تَسْنِيمٍ٢٧

вəмизəəджуhу миӈ-тəсниим

and whose seasoning is from Tasneem,

عَيْنًا يَشْرَبُ بِهَا ٱلْمُقَرَّبُونَ٢٨

'əйнəй-йəшрōбу биhəəль-муќōррōбуун

a spring where those brought near [to Allah] drink.

إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ أَجْرَمُواْ كَانُواْ مِنَ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ يَضْحَكُونَ٢٩

иннəль-лəз̃иинə əджрōмуу кəəнуу минə льлəз̃иинə əəмəнуу йəдhəкуун

Indeed the guilty used to laugh at the faithful,

وَإِذَا مَرُّواْ بِهِمْ يَتَغَامَزُونَ٣٠

вəиз̃əə мəрруу биhим йəтəґōōмəзуун

and when they passed them by they would wink at each other,

وَإِذَا ٱنقَلَبُوٓاْ إِلَىٰٓ أَهْلِهِمُ ٱنقَلَبُواْ فَكِهِينَ٣١

вəиз̃əə-ӈќōлəбуу илəə əhлиhиму-ӈќōлəбуу фəкиhиин

and when they returned to their folks they would return amused,

وَإِذَا رَأَوْهُمْ قَالُوٓاْ إِنَّ هَـٰٓؤُلَآءِ لَضَآلُّونَ٣٢

вəиз̃əə рōəуhум ќōōлюю иннə həə'улəə'и лəдōōллююн

and when they saw them they would say, ‘Indeed those are the astray!’

وَمَآ أُرْسِلُواْ عَلَيْهِمْ حَـٰفِظِينَ٣٣

вəмəə урсилюю 'əлэйhим həəфиз̃ыын

Though they were not sent to watch over them.

فَٱلْيَوْمَ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ مِنَ ٱلْكُفَّارِ يَضْحَكُونَ٣٤

фəəльйəумə льлəз̃иинə əəмəнуу минəль-куффəəри йəдhəкуун

So today the faithful will laugh at the faithless,

عَلَى ٱلْأَرَآئِكِ يَنظُرُونَ٣٥

'əлəəль-əрōō'ики йəӈз̃уруун

observing from their couches:

هَلْ ثُوِّبَ ٱلْكُفَّارُ مَا كَانُواْ يَفْعَلُونَ٣٦

həль c̃уувибəль-куффəəру мəə кəəнуу йəф'əлююн

Have the faithless been requited for what they used to do?
