surah075

لَآ أُقْسِمُ بِيَوْمِ ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِ١

лəə уќсиму бийəумиль-ќийəəмəh

I swear by the Day of Resurrection!

وَلَآ أُقْسِمُ بِٱلنَّفْسِ ٱللَّوَّامَةِ٢

вəлəə уќсиму бин-нəфси льлəувəəмəh

And I swear by the self-critical soul!

أَيَحْسَبُ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ أَلَّن نَّجْمَعَ عِظَامَهُۥ٣

əйəhсəбуль-иӈсəəну əльлəн-нəджмə'ə 'из̃ōōмəh

Does man suppose that We will not put together his bones [at resurrection]?

بَلَىٰ قَـٰدِرِينَ عَلَىٰٓ أَن نُّسَوِّىَ بَنَانَهُۥ٤

бəлəə ќōōдириинə 'əлəə əн-нусəувийə бəнəəнəh

Yes indeed, We are able to [re]shape [even] his fingertips!

بَلْ يُرِيدُ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ لِيَفْجُرَ أَمَامَهُۥ٥

бəль йуриидуль-иӈсəəну лийəфджурō əмəəмəh

Indeed, man desires to go on living viciously.

يَسْــَٔلُ أَيَّانَ يَوْمُ ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِ٦

йəсəлю əййəəнə йəумуль-ќийəəмəh

He asks, ‘When will be this “day of resurrection”?!’

فَإِذَا بَرِقَ ٱلْبَصَرُ٧

фəиз̃əə бəриќōль-бəсōр

But when the eyes are dazzled,

وَخَسَفَ ٱلْقَمَرُ٨

вəхōсəфəль-ќōмəр

the moon is eclipsed,

وَجُمِعَ ٱلشَّمْسُ وَٱلْقَمَرُ٩

вəджуми'ə шшəмсу вəəльќōмəр

and the sun and the moon are brought together,

يَقُولُ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ يَوْمَئِذٍ أَيْنَ ٱلْمَفَرُّ١٠

йəќуулюль-иӈсəəну йəумə'из̃ин əйнəль-мəфəрр

that day man will say, ‘Where is the escape [from this day]?’

كَلَّا لَا وَزَرَ١١

кəльлəə лəə вəзəр

No indeed! There will be no refuge!

إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ يَوْمَئِذٍ ٱلْمُسْتَقَرُّ١٢

илəə рōббикə йəумə'из̃инль-мустəќōрр

That day the [final] goal will be toward your Lord.

يُنَبَّؤُاْ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ يَوْمَئِذِۭ بِمَا قَدَّمَ وَأَخَّرَ١٣

йунəббəуль-иӈсəəну йəумə'из̃имм-бимəə ќōддəмə вəəххōр

That day man will be informed about what [works] he had sent ahead [to the scene of judgement] and [the legacy that he had] left behind.

بَلِ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ عَلَىٰ نَفْسِهِۦ بَصِيرَةٌ١٤

бəлиль-иӈсəəну 'əлəə нəфсиhи бəсыырōh

Indeed, man is a witness to himself,

وَلَوْ أَلْقَىٰ مَعَاذِيرَهُۥ١٥

вəлəу əльќōō мə'əəз̃иирōh

though he should offer excuses [to justify his failings].

لَا تُحَرِّكْ بِهِۦ لِسَانَكَ لِتَعْجَلَ بِهِۦٓ١٦

лəə туhəррик биhи лисəəнəкə литə'джəлə биh

Do not move your tongue with it to hasten it.

إِنَّ عَلَيْنَا جَمْعَهُۥ وَقُرْءَانَهُۥ١٧

иннə 'əлэйнəə джəм'əhу вəќур'əəнəh

Indeed it is up to Us to put it together and to recite it.

فَإِذَا قَرَأْنَـٰهُ فَٱتَّبِعْ قُرْءَانَهُۥ١٨

фəиз̃əə ќōрōнəəhу фəəттəби' ќур'əəнəh

And when We have recited it, follow its recitation.

ثُمَّ إِنَّ عَلَيْنَا بَيَانَهُۥ١٩

c̃уммə иннə 'əлэйнəə бəйəəнəh

Then, its exposition [also] lies with Us.

كَلَّا بَلْ تُحِبُّونَ ٱلْعَاجِلَةَ٢٠

кəльлəə бəль туhиббуунəль-'əəджилəh

No! Indeed, you love this transitory life

وَتَذَرُونَ ٱلْأَخِرَةَ٢١

вəтəз̃əруунəль-'əəхырōh

and forsake the Hereafter.

وُجُوهٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ نَّاضِرَةٌ٢٢

вуджууhуй-йəумə'из̃ин-ннəəдырōh

Some faces will be fresh on that day,

إِلَىٰ رَبِّهَا نَاظِرَةٌ٢٣

илəə рōббиhəə нəəз̃ырōh

looking to their Lord,

وَوُجُوهٌ يَوْمَئِذِۭ بَاسِرَةٌ٢٤

вəвуджууhуй-йəумə'из̃имм-бəəсирōh

and some faces will be scowling on that day,

تَظُنُّ أَن يُفْعَلَ بِهَا فَاقِرَةٌ٢٥

тəз̃унну əй-йуф'əлə биhəə фəəќирōh

knowing that they will be dealt out a punishment breaking the spine.

كَلَّآ إِذَا بَلَغَتِ ٱلتَّرَاقِىَ٢٦

кəльлəə из̃əə бəлəґōти ттəрōōќий

No indeed! When it reaches up to the collar bones

وَقِيلَ مَنْۜ رَاقٍ٢٧

вəќиилə мəн рōōќ

and it is said, ‘Who will take him up?’

وَظَنَّ أَنَّهُ ٱلْفِرَاقُ٢٨

вəз̃ōннə əннəhуль-фирōōќ

and he knows that it is the [time of] parting,

وَٱلْتَفَّتِ ٱلسَّاقُ بِٱلسَّاقِ٢٩

вəəльтəффəти ссəəќу бис-сəəќ

and each shank clasps the other shank,

إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ يَوْمَئِذٍ ٱلْمَسَاقُ٣٠

илəə рōббикə йəумə'из̃инль-мəсəəќ

that day he shall be driven toward your Lord.

فَلَا صَدَّقَ وَلَا صَلَّىٰ٣١

фəлəə сōддəќō вəлəə сōльлəə

He neither confirmed [the messages of Allah], nor did he pray,

وَلَـٰكِن كَذَّبَ وَتَوَلَّىٰ٣٢

вəлəəкиӈ-кəз̃з̃əбə вəтəвəльлəə

but denied [them] and turned away,

ثُمَّ ذَهَبَ إِلَىٰٓ أَهْلِهِۦ يَتَمَطَّىٰٓ٣٣

c̃уммə з̃əhəбə илəə əhлиhи йəтəмəт̣т̣ōō

and went back swaggering to his family.

أَوْلَىٰ لَكَ فَأَوْلَىٰ٣٤

əулəə лəкə фəəулəə

So, woe to you! Woe to you!

ثُمَّ أَوْلَىٰ لَكَ فَأَوْلَىٰٓ٣٥

c̃уммə əулəə лəкə фəəулəə

Again, woe to you! Woe to you!

أَيَحْسَبُ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ أَن يُتْرَكَ سُدًى٣٦

əйəhсəбуль-иӈсəəну əй-йутрōкə судəн

Does man suppose that he has been abandoned to futility?

أَلَمْ يَكُ نُطْفَةً مِّن مَّنِىٍّ يُمْنَىٰ٣٧

əлəм йəку нут̣фəтəмм-мимм-мəниййий-йумнəə

Was he not a drop of emitted semen,

ثُمَّ كَانَ عَلَقَةً فَخَلَقَ فَسَوَّىٰ٣٨

c̃уммə кəəнə 'əлəќōтəн фəхōлəќō фəсəувəə

and then a clinging mass? Whereat He created and proportioned [him],

فَجَعَلَ مِنْهُ ٱلزَّوْجَيْنِ ٱلذَّكَرَ وَٱلْأُنثَىٰٓ٣٩

фəджə'əлə минhу ззəуджəйни з̃з̃əкəрō вəəльуӈc̃əə

and made of him the two sexes, male and female.

أَلَيْسَ ذَٲلِكَ بِقَـٰدِرٍ عَلَىٰٓ أَن يُحْــِۧىَ ٱلْمَوْتَىٰ٤٠

əлэйсə з̃əəликə биќōōдирин 'əлəə əй-йуhйийəль-мəутəə

Is not [someone like] that able to revive the dead?
