surah009

بَرَآءَةٌ مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ وَرَسُولِهِۦٓ إِلَى ٱلَّذِينَ عَـٰهَدتُّم مِّنَ ٱلْمُشْرِكِينَ١

бəрōō'əтумм-минə ллаhи вəрōсуулиhи илəə льлəз̃иинə 'əəhəттум-минəль-мушрикиин

[This is] a [declaration of] repudiation by Allah and His Apostle [addressed] to the polytheists with whom you had made a treaty:

فَسِيحُواْ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ أَرْبَعَةَ أَشْهُرٍ وَٱعْلَمُوٓاْ أَنَّكُمْ غَيْرُ مُعْجِزِى ٱللَّهِ‌ۙ وَأَنَّ ٱللَّهَ مُخْزِى ٱلْكَـٰفِرِينَ٢

фəсииhуу фииль-əрды əрбə'əтə əшhуриу-вəə'лəмуу əннəкум ґōйру му'джизии ллаhи вəəннə ллаhə мухзииль-кəəфириин

Travel [unmolested] in the land for four months, but know that you cannot frustrate Allah, and that Allah shall disgrace the faithless.

وَأَذَٲنٌ مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ وَرَسُولِهِۦٓ إِلَى ٱلنَّاسِ يَوْمَ ٱلْحَجِّ ٱلْأَكْبَرِ أَنَّ ٱللَّهَ بَرِىٓءٌ مِّنَ ٱلْمُشْرِكِينَ‌ۙ وَرَسُولُهُۥ‌ۚ فَإِن تُبْتُمْ فَهُوَ خَيْرٌ لَّكُمْ‌ۖ وَإِن تَوَلَّيْتُمْ فَٱعْلَمُوٓاْ أَنَّكُمْ غَيْرُ مُعْجِزِى ٱللَّهِ‌ۗ وَبَشِّرِ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ بِعَذَابٍ أَلِيمٍ٣

вəəз̃əəнумм-минə ллаhи вəрōсуулиhи илəə ннəəси йəумəль-həджджиль-əкбəри əннə ллаhə бəрии'умм-минəль-мушрикиинə вəрōсуулюh, фəиӈ-тубтум фəhувə хōйруль-лəкум, вəиӈ-тəвəльлəйтум фəə'лəмуу əннəкум ґōйру му'джизии ллаh, вəбəшшири льлəз̃иинə кəфəруу би'əз̃əəбин əлиим

[This is] an announcement from Allah and His Apostle to all the people on the day of the greater Hajj: that Allah and His Apostle repudiate the polytheists: If you repent that is better for you; but if you turn your backs [on Allah], know that you cannot frustrate Allah, and inform the faithless of a painful punishment

إِلَّا ٱلَّذِينَ عَـٰهَدتُّم مِّنَ ٱلْمُشْرِكِينَ ثُمَّ لَمْ يَنقُصُوكُمْ شَيْــًٔا وَلَمْ يُظَـٰهِرُواْ عَلَيْكُمْ أَحَدًا فَأَتِمُّوٓاْ إِلَيْهِمْ عَهْدَهُمْ إِلَىٰ مُدَّتِهِمْ‌ۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ يُحِبُّ ٱلْمُتَّقِينَ٤

ильлəə льлəз̃иинə 'əəhəттум-минəль-мушрикиинə c̃уммə лəм йəӈќусуукум шэй'əу-вəлəм йуз̃ōōhируу 'əлэйкум əhəдəн фəəтиммуу илəйhим 'əhдəhум илəə муддəтиhим, иннə ллаhə йуhиббуль-муттəќиин

(barring the polytheists with whom you have made a treaty, and who did not violate any [of its terms] with you, nor backed anyone against you. So fulfill the treaty with them until [the end of] its term. Indeed Allah loves the Godwary).

فَإِذَا ٱنسَلَخَ ٱلْأَشْهُرُ ٱلْحُرُمُ فَٱقْتُلُواْ ٱلْمُشْرِكِينَ حَيْثُ وَجَدتُّمُوهُمْ وَخُذُوهُمْ وَٱحْصُرُوهُمْ وَٱقْعُدُواْ لَهُمْ كُلَّ مَرْصَدٍ‌ۚ فَإِن تَابُواْ وَأَقَامُواْ ٱلصَّلَوٲةَ وَءَاتَوُاْ ٱلزَّكَوٲةَ فَخَلُّواْ سَبِيلَهُمْ‌ۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ غَفُورٌ رَّحِيمٌ٥

фəиз̃əə-ӈсəлəхōль-əшhуруль-hуруму фəəќтулююль-мушрикиинə həйc̃у вəджəттумууhум вəхуз̃ууhум вəəhсурууhум вəəќ'удуу лəhум кульлə мəрсōд, фəиӈ-тəəбуу вəəќōōмуу ссōлəəтə вə'əəтəву ззəкəəтə фəхōллюю сəбиилəhум, иннə ллаhə ґōфууруррōhиим

Then, when the sacred months have passed, kill the polytheists wherever you find them, capture them and besiege them, and lie in wait for them at every ambush. But if they repent, and maintain the prayer and give the zakat, then let them alone. Indeed Allah is all-forgiving, all-merciful.

وَإِنْ أَحَدٌ مِّنَ ٱلْمُشْرِكِينَ ٱسْتَجَارَكَ فَأَجِرْهُ حَتَّىٰ يَسْمَعَ كَلَـٰمَ ٱللَّهِ ثُمَّ أَبْلِغْهُ مَأْمَنَهُۥ‌ۚ ذَٲلِكَ بِأَنَّهُمْ قَوْمٌ لَّا يَعْلَمُونَ٦

вəин əhəдумм-минəль-мушрикиинə-стəджəəрōкə фəəджирhу həттəə йəсмə'ə кəлəəмə ллаhи c̃уммə əблиґhу мəмəнəh, з̃əəликə биəннəhум ќōумуль-лəə йə'лəмуун

If any of the polytheists seeks asylum from you, grant him asylum until he hears the Word of Allah. Then convey him to his place of safety. That is because they are a people who do not know.

كَيْفَ يَكُونُ لِلْمُشْرِكِينَ عَهْدٌ عِندَ ٱللَّهِ وَعِندَ رَسُولِهِۦٓ إِلَّا ٱلَّذِينَ عَـٰهَدتُّمْ عِندَ ٱلْمَسْجِدِ ٱلْحَرَامِ‌ۖ فَمَا ٱسْتَقَـٰمُواْ لَكُمْ فَٱسْتَقِيمُواْ لَهُمْ‌ۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ يُحِبُّ ٱلْمُتَّقِينَ٧

кəйфə йəкууну ли-ль-мушрикиинə 'əhдун 'иӈдə ллаhи вə'иӈдə рōсуулиhи ильлəə льлəз̃иинə 'əəhəттум 'иӈдəль-мəсджидиль-həрōōм, фəмəə-стəќōōмуу лəкум фəəстəќиимуу лəhум, иннə ллаhə йуhиббуль-муттəќиин

How shall the polytheists have any [valid] treaty with Allah and His Apostle?! (Barring those with whom you made a treaty at the Holy Mosque; so long as they are steadfast with you, be steadfast with them. Indeed Allah loves the Godwary.)

كَيْفَ وَإِن يَظْهَرُواْ عَلَيْكُمْ لَا يَرْقُبُواْ فِيكُمْ إِلاًّ وَلَا ذِمَّةً‌ۚ يُرْضُونَكُم بِأَفْوَٲهِهِمْ وَتَأْبَىٰ قُلُوبُهُمْ وَأَكْثَرُهُمْ فَـٰسِقُونَ٨

кəйфə вəий-йəз̃həруу 'əлэйкум лəə йəрќубуу фиикум ильлəу-вəлəə з̃иммəh, йурдуунəкумм-биəфвəəhиhим вəтəбəə ќулююбуhум вəəкc̃əруhум фəəсиќуун

How? For if, they get the better of you, they will observe toward you neither kinship nor covenant. They please you with their mouths while their hearts spurn you; and most of them are transgressors.

ٱشْتَرَوْاْ بِـَٔـايَـٰتِ ٱللَّهِ ثَمَنًا قَلِيلاً فَصَدُّواْ عَن سَبِيلِهِۦٓ‌ۚ إِنَّهُمْ سَآءَ مَا كَانُواْ يَعْمَلُونَ٩

иштəрōу би'əəйəəти льлəhи c̃əмəнəн ќōлиилəн фəсōддуу 'əӈ-сəбиилиh, иннəhум сəə'ə мəə кəəнуу йə'мəлююн

They have sold the signs of Allah for a paltry gain, and have barred [the people] from His way. Evil indeed is what they have been doing.

لَا يَرْقُبُونَ فِى مُؤْمِنٍ إِلاًّ وَلَا ذِمَّةً‌ۚ وَأُوْلَـٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلْمُعْتَدُونَ١٠

лəə йəрќубуунə фии му'минин ильлəу-вəлəə з̃иммəh, вə-уулəə'икə hумуль-му'тəдуун

They observe toward a believer neither kinship nor covenant, and it is they who are the transgressors.

فَإِن تَابُواْ وَأَقَامُواْ ٱلصَّلَوٲةَ وَءَاتَوُاْ ٱلزَّكَوٲةَ فَإِخْوَٲنُكُمْ فِى ٱلدِّينِ‌ۗ وَنُفَصِّلُ ٱلْأَيَـٰتِ لِقَوْمٍ يَعْلَمُونَ١١

фəиӈ-тəəбуу вəəќōōмуу ссōлəəтə вə'əəтəву ззəкəəтə фəихвəəнукум фии ддиин, вəнуфəссылюль-'əəйəəти лиќōумий-йə'лəмуун

Yet if they repent and maintain the prayer and give the zakat, then they are your brethren in faith. We elaborate the signs for a people who have knowledge.

وَإِن نَّكَثُوٓاْ أَيْمَـٰنَهُم مِّنۢ بَعْدِ عَهْدِهِمْ وَطَعَنُواْ فِى دِينِكُمْ فَقَـٰتِلُوٓاْ أَئِمَّةَ ٱلْكُفْرِ‌ۙ إِنَّهُمْ لَآ أَيْمَـٰنَ لَهُمْ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَنتَهُونَ١٢

вəин-нəкəc̃уу əймəəнəhум-мимм-бə'ди 'əhдиhим вəт̣ō'əнуу фии дииникум фəќōōтилюю ə'иммəтəль-куфри иннəhум лəə əймəəнə лəhум лə'əльлəhум йəӈтəhуун

But if they break their pledges after their having made a treaty and revile your religion, then fight the leaders of unfaith—indeed, they have no [commitment to] pledges,—maybe they will desist.

أَلَا تُقَـٰتِلُونَ قَوْمًا نَّكَثُوٓاْ أَيْمَـٰنَهُمْ وَهَمُّواْ بِإِخْرَاجِ ٱلرَّسُولِ وَهُم بَدَءُوكُمْ أَوَّلَ مَرَّةٍ‌ۚ أَتَخْشَوْنَهُمْ‌ۚ فَٱللَّهُ أَحَقُّ أَن تَخْشَوْهُ إِن كُنتُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ١٣

əлəə туќōōтилююнə ќōумəн-ннəкəc̃уу əймəəнəhум вəhəммуу биихрōōджи ррōсуули вəhумм-бəдə'уукум əувəлə мəррōh, əтəхшəунəhум, фə ллаhу əhəќќу əӈ-тəхшəуhу иӈ-куӈтум-му'миниин

Will you not make war on a people who broke their pledges and resolved to expel the Apostle, and opened [hostilities] against you initially? Do you fear them? But Allah is worthier of being feared by you, should you be faithful.

قَـٰتِلُوهُمْ يُعَذِّبْهُمُ ٱللَّهُ بِأَيْدِيكُمْ وَيُخْزِهِمْ وَيَنصُرْكُمْ عَلَيْهِمْ وَيَشْفِ صُدُورَ قَوْمٍ مُّؤْمِنِينَ١٤

ќōōтилююhум йу'əз̃з̃ибhуму ллаhу биəйдиикум вəйухзиhим вəйəӈсуркум 'əлэйhим вəйəшфи судуурō ќōумимм-му'миниин

Make war on them so that Allah may punish them by your hands and humiliate them, and help you against them, and heal the hearts of a faithful folk,

وَيُذْهِبْ غَيْظَ قُلُوبِهِمْ‌ۗ وَيَتُوبُ ٱللَّهُ عَلَىٰ مَن يَشَآءُ‌ۗ وَٱللَّهُ عَلِيمٌ حَكِيمٌ١٥

вəйуз̃hиб ґōйз̃ō ќулююбиhим, вəйəтуубу ллаhу 'əлəə мəй-йəшəə', вə ллаhу 'əлиимун həкиим

and remove rage from their hearts, and Allah turns clemently to whomever He wishes, and Allah is all-knowing, all-wise

أَمْ حَسِبْتُمْ أَن تُتْرَكُواْ وَلَمَّا يَعْلَمِ ٱللَّهُ ٱلَّذِينَ جَـٰهَدُواْ مِنكُمْ وَلَمْ يَتَّخِذُواْ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ وَلَا رَسُولِهِۦ وَلَا ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَلِيجَةً‌ۚ وَٱللَّهُ خَبِيرُۢ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ١٦

əм həсибтум əӈ-тутрōкуу вəлəммəə йə'лəми льлəhу льлəз̃иинə джəəhəдуу миӈкум вəлəм йəттəхыз̃уу миӈ-дууни льлəhи вəлəə рōсуулиhи вəлəəль-му'миниинə вəлииджəh, вə ллаhу хōбиирумм-бимəə тə'мəлююн

Do you suppose that you will be let off while Allah has not yet ascertained those of you who wage jihad and those who do not take anyone as [their] confidant besides Allah and His Apostle and the faithful? Allah is well aware of what you do.

مَا كَانَ لِلْمُشْرِكِينَ أَن يَعْمُرُواْ مَسَـٰجِدَ ٱللَّهِ شَـٰهِدِينَ عَلَىٰٓ أَنفُسِهِم بِٱلْكُفْرِ‌ۚ أُوْلَـٰٓئِكَ حَبِطَتْ أَعْمَـٰلُهُمْ وَفِى ٱلنَّارِ هُمْ خَـٰلِدُونَ١٧

мəə кəəнə ли-ль-мушрикиинə əй-йə'муруу мəсəəджидə ллаhи шəəhидиинə 'əлəə əӈфусиhимм-биль-куфр, уулəə'икə həбит̣ōт ə'мəəлюhум вəфии ннəəри hум хōōлидуун

The polytheists may not maintain Allah’s mosques while they are witness to their own unfaith. Their works have failed, and they shall remain in the Fire [forever].

إِنَّمَا يَعْمُرُ مَسَـٰجِدَ ٱللَّهِ مَنْ ءَامَنَ بِٱللَّهِ وَٱلْيَوْمِ ٱلْأَخِرِ وَأَقَامَ ٱلصَّلَوٲةَ وَءَاتَى ٱلزَّكَوٲةَ وَلَمْ يَخْشَ إِلَّا ٱللَّهَ‌ۖ فَعَسَىٰٓ أُوْلَـٰٓئِكَ أَن يَكُونُواْ مِنَ ٱلْمُهْتَدِينَ١٨

иннəмəə йə'муру мəсəəджидə ллаhи мəн əəмəнə биль-лəhи вəəльйəумиль-'əəхыри вəəќōōмə ссōлəəтə вə'əəтəə ззəкəəтə вəлəм йəхшə ильлəə ллаh, фə'əсəə уулəə'икə əй-йəкуунуу минəль-муhтəдиин

Only those shall maintain Allah’s mosques who believe in Allah and the Last Day, and maintain the prayer, and give the zakat, and fear no one except Allah. They, hopefully, will be among the guided.

أَجَعَلْتُمْ سِقَايَةَ ٱلْحَآجِّ وَعِمَارَةَ ٱلْمَسْجِدِ ٱلْحَرَامِ كَمَنْ ءَامَنَ بِٱللَّهِ وَٱلْيَوْمِ ٱلْأَخِرِ وَجَـٰهَدَ فِى سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ‌ۚ لَا يَسْتَوُۥنَ عِندَ ٱللَّهِ‌ۗ وَٱللَّهُ لَا يَهْدِى ٱلْقَوْمَ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ١٩

əджə'əльтум сиќōōйəтəль-həəджджи вə'имəəрōтəль-мəсджидиль-həрōōми кəмəн əəмəнə биль-лəhи вəəльйəумиль-'əəхыри вəджəəhəдə фии сəбиили льлəh, лəə йəстəвуунə 'иӈдə ллаh, вə ллаhу лəə йəhдииль-ќōумə з̃з̃ōōлимиин

Do you regard the providing of water to Hajj pilgrims and the maintenance of the Holy Mosque as similar [in worth] to someone who has faith in Allah and [believes in] the Last Day and wages jihad in the way of Allah? They are not equal with Allah, and Allah does not guide the wrongdoing lot.

ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ وَهَاجَرُواْ وَجَـٰهَدُواْ فِى سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ بِأَمْوَٲلِهِمْ وَأَنفُسِهِمْ أَعْظَمُ دَرَجَةً عِندَ ٱللَّهِ‌ۚ وَأُوْلَـٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلْفَآئِزُونَ٢٠

əль-лəз̃иинə əəмəнуу вəhəəджəруу вəджəəhəдуу фии сəбиили льлəhи биəмвəəлиhим вəəӈфусиhим ə'з̃ōму дəрōджəтəн 'иӈдə ллаh, вə-уулəə'икə hумуль-фəə'изуун

Those who have believed and migrated, and waged jihad in the way of Allah with their possessions and persons have a greater rank near Allah, and it is they who are the triumphant.

يُبَشِّرُهُمْ رَبُّهُم بِرَحْمَةٍ مِّنْهُ وَرِضْوَٲنٍ وَجَنَّـٰتٍ لَّهُمْ فِيهَا نَعِيمٌ مُّقِيمٌ٢١

йубəшшируhум рōббуhумм-бирōhмəтимм-минhу вəридвəəниу-вəджəннəəтиль-лəhум фииhəə нə'иимумм-муќиим

Their Lord gives them the good news of His mercy and [His] pleasure, and for them there will be gardens with lasting bliss,

خَـٰلِدِينَ فِيهَآ أَبَدًا‌ۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ عِندَهُۥٓ أَجْرٌ عَظِيمٌ٢٢

хōōлидиинə фииhəə əбəдə, иннə ллаhə 'иӈдəhу əджрун 'əз̃ыым

to remain in them forever. With Allah indeed is a great reward.

يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ لَا تَتَّخِذُوٓاْ ءَابَآءَكُمْ وَإِخْوَٲنَكُمْ أَوْلِيَآءَ إِنِ ٱسْتَحَبُّواْ ٱلْكُفْرَ عَلَى ٱلْإِيمَـٰنِ‌ۚ وَمَن يَتَوَلَّهُم مِّنكُمْ فَأُوْلَـٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلظَّـٰلِمُونَ٢٣

йəə əййуhəə льлəз̃иинə əəмəнуу лəə тəттəхыз̃уу əəбəə'əкум вəихвəəнəкум əулийəə'ə ини-стəhəббууль-куфрō 'əлəəль-иимəəн, вəмəй-йəтəвəльлəhум-миӈкум фəуулəə'икə hуму з̃з̃ōōлимуун

O you who have faith! Do not befriend your fathers and brothers if they prefer faithlessness to faith. Those of you who befriend them—it is they who are the wrongdoers.

قُلْ إِن كَانَ ءَابَآؤُكُمْ وَأَبْنَآؤُكُمْ وَإِخْوَٲنُكُمْ وَأَزْوَٲجُكُمْ وَعَشِيرَتُكُمْ وَأَمْوَٲلٌ ٱقْتَرَفْتُمُوهَا وَتِجَـٰرَةٌ تَخْشَوْنَ كَسَادَهَا وَمَسَـٰكِنُ تَرْضَوْنَهَآ أَحَبَّ إِلَيْكُم مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ وَرَسُولِهِۦ وَجِهَادٍ فِى سَبِيلِهِۦ فَتَرَبَّصُواْ حَتَّىٰ يَأْتِىَ ٱللَّهُ بِأَمْرِهِۦ‌ۗ وَٱللَّهُ لَا يَهْدِى ٱلْقَوْمَ ٱلْفَـٰسِقِينَ٢٤

ќуль иӈ-кəəнə əəбəə'укум вəəбнəə'укум вəихвəəнукум вəəзвəəджукум вə'əшиирōтукум вəəмвəəлюн-ќтəрōфтумууhəə вəтиджəəрōтун тəхшəунə кəсəəдəhəə вəмəсəəкину тəрдōунəhəə əhəббə илəйкум-минə ллаhи вəрōсуулиhи вəджиhəəдин фии сəбиилиhи фəтəрōббəсуу həттəə йəтийə ллаhу биəмриh, вə ллаhу лəə йəhдииль-ќōумəль-фəəсиќиин

Say, ‘If your fathers and your sons, your brethren, your spouses, and your kinsfolk, the possessions that you have acquired, the business you fear may suffer, and the dwellings you are fond of, are dearer to you than Allah and His Apostle and to waging jihad in His way, then wait until Allah issues His edict, and Allah does not guide the transgressing lot.

لَقَدْ نَصَرَكُمُ ٱللَّهُ فِى مَوَاطِنَ كَثِيرَةٍ‌ۙ وَيَوْمَ حُنَيْنٍ‌ۙ إِذْ أَعْجَبَتْكُمْ كَثْرَتُكُمْ فَلَمْ تُغْنِ عَنكُمْ شَيْــًٔا وَضَاقَتْ عَلَيْكُمُ ٱلْأَرْضُ بِمَا رَحُبَتْ ثُمَّ وَلَّيْتُم مُّدْبِرِينَ٢٥

лəќōд нəсōрōкуму ллаhу фии мəвəəт̣ынə кəc̃иирōтин вəйəумə hунəйнин из̃ ə'джəбəткум кəc̃рōтукум фəлəм туґни 'əӈкум шэй'əу-вəдōōќōт 'əлэйкумуль-əрду бимəə рōhубəт c̃уммə вəльлəйтум-мудбириин

Allah has certainly helped you in many situations, and on the day of Hunayn, when your great number impressed you, but it did not avail you in any way, and the earth became narrow for you in spite of its expanse, whereupon you turned your backs [to flee].

ثُمَّ أَنزَلَ ٱللَّهُ سَكِينَتَهُۥ عَلَىٰ رَسُولِهِۦ وَعَلَى ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَأَنزَلَ جُنُودًا لَّمْ تَرَوْهَا وَعَذَّبَ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ‌ۚ وَذَٲلِكَ جَزَآءُ ٱلْكَـٰفِرِينَ٢٦

c̃уммə əӈзəлə ллаhу сəкиинəтəhу 'əлəə рōсуулиhи вə'əлəəль-му'миниинə вəəӈзəлə джунуудəль-лəм тəрōуhəə вə'əз̃з̃əбə льлəз̃иинə кəфəруу, вəз̃əəликə джəзəə'уль-кəəфириин

Then Allah sent down His composure upon His Apostle and upon the faithful, and He sent down hosts you did not see, and He punished the faithless, and that is the requital of the faithless.

ثُمَّ يَتُوبُ ٱللَّهُ مِنۢ بَعْدِ ذَٲلِكَ عَلَىٰ مَن يَشَآءُ‌ۗ وَٱللَّهُ غَفُورٌ رَّحِيمٌ٢٧

c̃уммə йəтуубу ллаhу мимм-бə'ди з̃əəликə 'əлəə мəй-йəшəə', вə ллаhу ґōфууруррōhиим

Then Allah shall turn clemently after that to whomever He wishes. Indeed Allah is all-forgiving, all-merciful.

يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓاْ إِنَّمَا ٱلْمُشْرِكُونَ نَجَسٌ فَلَا يَقْرَبُواْ ٱلْمَسْجِدَ ٱلْحَرَامَ بَعْدَ عَامِهِمْ هَـٰذَا‌ۚ وَإِنْ خِفْتُمْ عَيْلَةً فَسَوْفَ يُغْنِيكُمُ ٱللَّهُ مِن فَضْلِهِۦٓ إِن شَآءَ‌ۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ عَلِيمٌ حَكِيمٌ٢٨

йəə əййуhəə льлəз̃иинə əəмəнуу иннəмəəль-мушрикуунə нəджəсун фəлəə йəќрōбууль-мəсджидəль-həрōōмə бə'дə 'əəмиhим həəз̃əə, вəин хыфтум 'əйлəтəн фəсəуфə йуґниикуму ллаhу миӈ-фəдлиhи иӈ-шəə', иннə ллаhə 'əлиимун həкиим

O you who have faith! The polytheists are indeed unclean: so let them not approach the Holy Mosque after this year. Should you fear poverty, Allah will enrich you out of His grace, if He wishes. Indeed Allah is all-knowing, all-wise.

قَـٰتِلُواْ ٱلَّذِينَ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ بِٱللَّهِ وَلَا بِٱلْيَوْمِ ٱلْأَخِرِ وَلَا يُحَرِّمُونَ مَا حَرَّمَ ٱللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُۥ وَلَا يَدِينُونَ دِينَ ٱلْحَقِّ مِنَ ٱلَّذِينَ أُوتُواْ ٱلْكِتَـٰبَ حَتَّىٰ يُعْطُواْ ٱلْجِزْيَةَ عَن يَدٍ وَهُمْ صَـٰغِرُونَ٢٩

ќōōтилюю льлəз̃иинə лəə йу'минуунə биль-лəhи вəлəə биль-йəумиль-'əəхыри вəлəə йуhəрримуунə мəə həррōмə ллаhу вəрōсуулюhу вəлəə йəдиинуунə диинəль-həќќи минə льлəз̃иинə уутууль-китəəбə həттəə йу'т̣ууль-джизйəтə 'əй-йəдиу-вəhум сōōґируун

Fight those who do not have faith in Allah nor [believe] in the Last Day, nor forbid what Allah and His Apostle have forbidden, nor practise the true religion, from among those who were given the Book, until they pay the tribute out of hand, degraded.

وَقَالَتِ ٱلْيَهُودُ عُزَيْرٌ ٱبْنُ ٱللَّهِ وَقَالَتِ ٱلنَّصَـٰرَى ٱلْمَسِيحُ ٱبْنُ ٱللَّهِ‌ۖ ذَٲلِكَ قَوْلُهُم بِأَفْوَٲهِهِمْ‌ۖ يُضَـٰهِــُٔونَ قَوْلَ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ مِن قَبْلُ‌ۚ قَـٰتَلَهُمُ ٱللَّهُ‌ۚ أَنَّىٰ يُؤْفَكُونَ٣٠

вəќōōлəтиль-йəhууду 'узəйрун-бну ллаhи вəќōōлəти ннəсōōрōōль-мəсииhу-бну ллаh, з̃əəликə ќōулюhумм-биəфвəəhиhим, йудōōhи'уунə ќōулə льлəз̃иинə кəфəруу миӈ-ќōбль, ќōōтəлəhуму ллаh, əннəə йу'фəкуун

The Jews say, ‘Ezra is the son of Allah,’ and the Christians say, ‘Christ is the son of Allah.’ That is an opinion that they mouth, imitating the opinions of the faithless of former times. May Allah assail them, where do they stray?!

ٱتَّخَذُوٓاْ أَحْبَارَهُمْ وَرُهْبَـٰنَهُمْ أَرْبَابًا مِّن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ وَٱلْمَسِيحَ ٱبْنَ مَرْيَمَ وَمَآ أُمِرُوٓاْ إِلَّا لِيَعْبُدُوٓاْ إِلَـٰهًا وَٲحِدًا‌ۖ لَّآ إِلَـٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ‌ۚ سُبْحَـٰنَهُۥ عَمَّا يُشْرِكُونَ٣١

иттəхōз̃уу əhбəəрōhум вəруhбəəнəhум əрбəəбəмм-миӈ-дууни льлəhи вəəльмəсииhə-бнə мəрйəмə вəмəə умируу ильлəə лийə'будуу илəəhəу-вəəhидə, лəə илəəhə ильлəə hуу, субhəəнəhу 'əммəə йушрикуун

They have taken their scribes and their monks as lords besides Allah, and also Christ, Mary’s son; though they were commanded to worship only the One God, there is no god except Him; He is far too immaculate to have any partners that they ascribe [to Him]!

يُرِيدُونَ أَن يُطْفِــُٔواْ نُورَ ٱللَّهِ بِأَفْوَٲهِهِمْ وَيَأْبَى ٱللَّهُ إِلَّآ أَن يُتِمَّ نُورَهُۥ وَلَوْ كَرِهَ ٱلْكَـٰفِرُونَ٣٢

йуриидуунə əй-йут̣фи'уу нуурō ллаhи биəфвəəhиhим вəйəбəə ллаhу ильлəə əй-йутиммə нуурōhу вəлəу кəриhəль-кəəфируун

They desire to put out the light of Allah with their mouths, but Allah is intent on perfecting His light though the faithless should be averse.

هُوَ ٱلَّذِىٓ أَرْسَلَ رَسُولَهُۥ بِٱلْهُدَىٰ وَدِينِ ٱلْحَقِّ لِيُظْهِرَهُۥ عَلَى ٱلدِّينِ كُلِّهِۦ وَلَوْ كَرِهَ ٱلْمُشْرِكُونَ٣٣

hувə льлəз̃ии əрсəлə рōсуулəhу биль-hудəə вəдииниль-həќќи лийуз̃hирōhу 'əлəə ддиини куллиhи вəлəу кəриhəль-мушрикуун

It is He who has sent His Apostle with the guidance and the religion of truth that He may make it prevail over all religions, though the polytheists should be averse.

يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓاْ إِنَّ كَثِيرًا مِّنَ ٱلْأَحْبَارِ وَٱلرُّهْبَانِ لَيَأْكُلُونَ أَمْوَٲلَ ٱلنَّاسِ بِٱلْبَـٰطِلِ وَيَصُدُّونَ عَن سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ‌ۗ وَٱلَّذِينَ يَكْنِزُونَ ٱلذَّهَبَ وَٱلْفِضَّةَ وَلَا يُنفِقُونَهَا فِى سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ فَبَشِّرْهُم بِعَذَابٍ أَلِيمٍ٣٤

йəə əййуhəə льлəз̃иинə əəмəнуу иннə кəc̃иирōмм-минəль-əhбəəри вə рруhбəəни лəйəкулююнə əмвəəлə ннəəси биль-бəəт̣ыли вəйəсуддуунə 'əӈ-сəбиили льлəh, вəль-лəз̃иинə йəкнизуунə з̃з̃əhəбə вəəльфиддōтə вəлəə йуӈфиќуунəhəə фии сəбиили льлəhи фəбəшширhумм-би'əз̃əəбин əлиим

O you who have faith! Indeed many of the scribes and monks wrongfully eat up the people’s wealth, and bar [them] from the way of Allah. Those who treasure up gold and silver, and do not spend it in the way of Allah, inform them of a painful punishment

يَوْمَ يُحْمَىٰ عَلَيْهَا فِى نَارِ جَهَنَّمَ فَتُكْوَىٰ بِهَا جِبَاهُهُمْ وَجُنُوبُهُمْ وَظُهُورُهُمْ‌ۖ هَـٰذَا مَا كَنَزْتُمْ لِأَنفُسِكُمْ فَذُوقُواْ مَا كُنتُمْ تَكْنِزُونَ٣٥

йəумə йуhмəə 'əлэйhəə фии нəəри джəhəннəмə фəтуквəə биhəə джибəəhуhум вəджунуубуhум вəз̃уhууруhум, həəз̃əə мəə кəнəзтум лиəӈфусикум фəз̃ууќуу мəə куӈтум тəкнизуун

on the day when these shall be heated in hellfire and therewith branded on their foreheads, their sides, and their backs [and told]: ‘This is what you treasured up for yourselves! So taste what you have treasured!’

إِنَّ عِدَّةَ ٱلشُّهُورِ عِندَ ٱللَّهِ ٱثْنَا عَشَرَ شَهْرًا فِى كِتَـٰبِ ٱللَّهِ يَوْمَ خَلَقَ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٲتِ وَٱلْأَرْضَ مِنْهَآ أَرْبَعَةٌ حُرُمٌ‌ۚ ذَٲلِكَ ٱلدِّينُ ٱلْقَيِّمُ‌ۚ فَلَا تَظْلِمُواْ فِيهِنَّ أَنفُسَكُمْ‌ۚ وَقَـٰتِلُواْ ٱلْمُشْرِكِينَ كَآفَّةً كَمَا يُقَـٰتِلُونَكُمْ كَآفَّةً‌ۚ وَٱعْلَمُوٓاْ أَنَّ ٱللَّهَ مَعَ ٱلْمُتَّقِينَ٣٦

иннə 'иддəтə шшуhуури 'иӈдə ллаhи-c̃нəə 'əшəрō шəhрōн фии китəəби льлəhи йəумə хōлəќō ссəмəəвəəти вəəльəрдō минhəə əрбə'əтун hурум, з̃əəликə ддиинуль-ќōййим, фəлəə тəз̃лимуу фииhиннə əӈфусəкум, вəќōōтилююль-мушрикиинə кəəффəтəн кəмəə йуќōōтилююнəкум кəəффəh, вəə'лəмуу əннə ллаhə мə'əль-муттəќиин

Indeed the number of months with Allah is twelve months in Allah’s Book, the day when He created the heavens and the earth. Of these, four are sacred. That is the upright religion. So do not wrong yourselves during them. Fight all the polytheists, just as they fight you all, and know that Allah is with the Godwary.

إِنَّمَا ٱلنَّسِىٓءُ زِيَادَةٌ فِى ٱلْكُفْرِ‌ۖ يُضَلُّ بِهِ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ يُحِلُّونَهُۥ عَامًا وَيُحَرِّمُونَهُۥ عَامًا لِّيُوَاطِــُٔواْ عِدَّةَ مَا حَرَّمَ ٱللَّهُ فَيُحِلُّواْ مَا حَرَّمَ ٱللَّهُ‌ۚ زُيِّنَ لَهُمْ سُوٓءُ أَعْمَـٰلِهِمْ‌ۗ وَٱللَّهُ لَا يَهْدِى ٱلْقَوْمَ ٱلْكَـٰفِرِينَ٣٧

иннəмəə ннəсии'у зийəəдəтун фииль-куфр, йудōллю биhи льлəз̃иинə кəфəруу йуhиллююнəhу 'əəмəу-вəйуhəрримуунəhу 'əəмəл-лийувəəт̣ы'уу 'иддəтə мəə həррōмə ллаhу фəйуhиллюю мəə həррōмə ллаh, зуййинə лəhум суу'у ə'мəəлиhим, вə ллаhу лəə йəhдииль-ќōумəль-кəəфириин

Indeed nasee is an increase in unfaith, whereby the faithless are led [further] astray. They allow it in one year and forbid it another year, so as to fit in with the number, which Allah has made inviolable, thus permitting what Allah has forbidden. Their evil deeds appear to them as decorous, and Allah does not guide the faithless lot.

يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ مَا لَكُمْ إِذَا قِيلَ لَكُمُ ٱنفِرُواْ فِى سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ ٱثَّاقَلْتُمْ إِلَى ٱلْأَرْضِ‌ۚ أَرَضِيتُم بِٱلْحَيَوٲةِ ٱلدُّنْيَا مِنَ ٱلْأَخِرَةِ‌ۚ فَمَا مَتَـٰعُ ٱلْحَيَوٲةِ ٱلدُّنْيَا فِى ٱلْأَخِرَةِ إِلَّا قَلِيلٌ٣٨

йəə əййуhəə льлəз̃иинə əəмəнуу мəə лəкум из̃əə ќиилə лəкуму-ӈфируу фии сəбиили льлəhи-c̃c̃əəќōльтум илəəль-əрд, əрōдыытумм-биль-həйəəти ддунйəə минəль-'əəхырōh, фəмəə мəтəə'уль-həйəəти ддунйəə фииль-'əəхырōти ильлəə ќōлииль

O you who have faith! What is the matter with you that when you are told: ‘Go forth in the way of Allah,’ you sink heavily to the ground? Are you pleased with the life of this world instead of the Hereafter? But the wares of the life of this world compared with the Hereafter are but insignificant.

إِلَّا تَنفِرُواْ يُعَذِّبْكُمْ عَذَابًا أَلِيمًا وَيَسْتَبْدِلْ قَوْمًا غَيْرَكُمْ وَلَا تَضُرُّوهُ شَيْــًٔا‌ۗ وَٱللَّهُ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَىْءٍ قَدِيرٌ٣٩

ильлəə тəӈфируу йу'əз̃з̃ибкум 'əз̃əəбəн əлиимəу-вəйəстəбдиль ќōумəн ґōйрōкум вəлəə тəдуррууhу шэй'ə, вə ллаhу 'əлəə кулли шэй'ин ќōдиир

If you do not go forth, He will punish you with a painful punishment, and replace you with another people, and you will not hurt Him in the least, and Allah has power over all things.

إِلَّا تَنصُرُوهُ فَقَدْ نَصَرَهُ ٱللَّهُ إِذْ أَخْرَجَهُ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ ثَانِىَ ٱثْنَيْنِ إِذْ هُمَا فِى ٱلْغَارِ إِذْ يَقُولُ لِصَـٰحِبِهِۦ لَا تَحْزَنْ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ مَعَنَا‌ۖ فَأَنزَلَ ٱللَّهُ سَكِينَتَهُۥ عَلَيْهِ وَأَيَّدَهُۥ بِجُنُودٍ لَّمْ تَرَوْهَا وَجَعَلَ كَلِمَةَ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ ٱلسُّفْلَىٰ‌ۗ وَكَلِمَةُ ٱللَّهِ هِىَ ٱلْعُلْيَا‌ۗ وَٱللَّهُ عَزِيزٌ حَكِيمٌ٤٠

ильлəə тəӈсурууhу фəќōд нəсōрōhу ллаhу из̃ əхрōджəhу льлəз̃иинə кəфəруу c̃əəнийə-c̃нəйни из̃ hумəə фииль-ґōōри из̃ йəќуулю лисōōhибиhи лəə тəhзəн иннə ллаhə мə'əнəə, фəəӈзəлə ллаhу сəкиинəтəhу 'əлэйhи вəəййəдəhу биджунуудиль-лəм тəрōуhəə вəджə'əлə кəлимəтə льлəз̃иинə кəфəруу ссуфлəə, вəкəлимəту ллаhи hийəль-'ульйəə, вə ллаhу 'əзиизун həкиим

If you do not help him, then Allah certainly helped him when the faithless expelled him, as one of two [refugees], when the two of them were in the cave, he said to his companion, ‘Do not grieve; Allah is indeed with us.’ Then Allah sent down His composure upon him, and strengthened him with hosts you did not see, and He made the word of the faithless the lowest; and the word of Allah is the highest; and Allah is all-mighty, all-wise.

ٱنفِرُواْ خِفَافًا وَثِقَالاً وَجَـٰهِدُواْ بِأَمْوَٲلِكُمْ وَأَنفُسِكُمْ فِى سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ‌ۚ ذَٲلِكُمْ خَيْرٌ لَّكُمْ إِن كُنتُمْ تَعْلَمُونَ٤١

иӈфируу хыфəəфəу-вəc̃иќōōлəу-вəджəəhидуу биəмвəəликум вəəӈфусикум фии сəбиили льлəh, з̃əəликум хōйруль-лəкум иӈ-куӈтум тə'лəмуун

Go forth, whether [armed] lightly or heavily, and wage jihad with your possessions and persons in the way of Allah. That is better for you, should you know.

لَوْ كَانَ عَرَضًا قَرِيبًا وَسَفَرًا قَاصِدًا لَّٱتَّبَعُوكَ وَلَـٰكِنۢ بَعُدَتْ عَلَيْهِمُ ٱلشُّقَّةُ‌ۚ وَسَيَحْلِفُونَ بِٱللَّهِ لَوِ ٱسْتَطَعْنَا لَخَرَجْنَا مَعَكُمْ يُهْلِكُونَ أَنفُسَهُمْ وَٱللَّهُ يَعْلَمُ إِنَّهُمْ لَكَـٰذِبُونَ٤٢

лəу кəəнə 'əрōдōн ќōриибəу-вəсəфəрōн ќōōсыдəль-лəəттəбə'уукə вəлəəкимм-бə'удəт 'əлэйhиму шшуќќōh, вəсəйəhлифуунə биль-лəhи лəви-стəт̣ō'нəə лəхōрōджнəə мə'əкум йуhликуунə əӈфусəhум вə ллаhу йə'лəму иннəhум лəкəəз̃ибуун

Were it an accessible gain or a short journey, they would have surely followed you; but the distance seemed too far to them. Yet they will swear by Allah: ‘If we could, we would have surely gone forth with you.’ They [merely] destroy themselves. Allah knows that they are indeed liars.

عَفَا ٱللَّهُ عَنكَ لِمَ أَذِنتَ لَهُمْ حَتَّىٰ يَتَبَيَّنَ لَكَ ٱلَّذِينَ صَدَقُواْ وَتَعْلَمَ ٱلْكَـٰذِبِينَ٤٣

'əфəə ллаhу 'əӈкə лимə əз̃иӈтə лəhум həттəə йəтəбэййəнə лəкə льлəз̃иинə сōдəќуу вəтə'лəмəль-кəəз̃ибиин

May Allah excuse you! Why did you grant them leave [to stay behind] before those who told the truth were evident to you and you had ascertained the liars?

لَا يَسْتَــْٔذِنُكَ ٱلَّذِينَ يُؤْمِنُونَ بِٱللَّهِ وَٱلْيَوْمِ ٱلْأَخِرِ أَن يُجَـٰهِدُواْ بِأَمْوَٲلِهِمْ وَأَنفُسِهِمْ‌ۗ وَٱللَّهُ عَلِيمُۢ بِٱلْمُتَّقِينَ٤٤

лəə йəстəз̃инукə льлəз̃иинə йу'минуунə биль-лəhи вəəльйəумиль-'əəхыри əй-йуджəəhидуу биəмвəəлиhим вəəӈфусиhим, вə ллаhу 'əлиимумм-биль-муттəќиин

Those who believe in Allah and the Last Day do not ask you for leave [exempting them] from waging jihad with their possessions and their persons, and Allah knows best the Godwary.

إِنَّمَا يَسْتَــْٔذِنُكَ ٱلَّذِينَ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ بِٱللَّهِ وَٱلْيَوْمِ ٱلْأَخِرِ وَٱرْتَابَتْ قُلُوبُهُمْ فَهُمْ فِى رَيْبِهِمْ يَتَرَدَّدُونَ٤٥

иннəмəə йəстəз̃инукə льлəз̃иинə лəə йу'минуунə биль-лəhи вəəльйəумиль-'əəхыри вəəртəəбəт ќулююбуhум фəhум фии рōйбиhим йəтəрōддəдуун

Only those seek a leave [of exemption] from you who do not believe in Allah and the Last Day, and whose hearts are in doubt, so they waver in their doubt.

وَلَوْ أَرَادُواْ ٱلْخُرُوجَ لَأَعَدُّواْ لَهُۥ عُدَّةً وَلَـٰكِن كَرِهَ ٱللَّهُ ٱنۢبِعَاثَهُمْ فَثَبَّطَهُمْ وَقِيلَ ٱقْعُدُواْ مَعَ ٱلْقَـٰعِدِينَ٤٦

вəлəу əрōōдууль-хурууджə лəə'əддуу лəhу 'уддəтəу-вəлəəкиӈ-кəриhə ллаhу-мм-би'əəc̃əhум фəc̃əббəт̣ōhум вəќиилə-ќ'удуу мə'əль-ќōō'идиин

Had they desired to go forth, they would have surely made some preparations for it; but Allah was averse to arouse them, so He held them back, and it was said [to them], ‘Be seated with those who sit back.’

لَوْ خَرَجُواْ فِيكُم مَّا زَادُوكُمْ إِلَّا خَبَالاً وَلَأَوْضَعُواْ خِلَـٰلَكُمْ يَبْغُونَكُمُ ٱلْفِتْنَةَ وَفِيكُمْ سَمَّـٰعُونَ لَهُمْ‌ۗ وَٱللَّهُ عَلِيمُۢ بِٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ٤٧

лəу хōрōджуу фиикум-мəə зəəдуукум ильлəə хōбəəлəу-вəлəəудō'уу хылəəлəкум йəбґуунəкумуль-фитнəтə вəфиикум сəммəə'уунə лəhум, вə ллаhу 'əлиимумм-биз̃-з̃ōōлимиин

Had they gone forth with you, they would have only added to your troubles, and they would have surely spread rumours in your midst, seeking to cause sedition among you. They have some spies among you, and Allah knows best the wrongdoers.

لَقَدِ ٱبْتَغَوُاْ ٱلْفِتْنَةَ مِن قَبْلُ وَقَلَّبُواْ لَكَ ٱلْأُمُورَ حَتَّىٰ جَآءَ ٱلْحَقُّ وَظَهَرَ أَمْرُ ٱللَّهِ وَهُمْ كَـٰرِهُونَ٤٨

лəќōди-бтəґōвуль-фитнəтə миӈ-ќōблю вəќōльлəбуу лəкəль-умуурō həттəə джəə'əль-həќќу вəз̃ōhəрō əмру ллаhи вəhум кəəриhуун

They certainly sought to cause sedition earlier, and upset the matters for you, until the truth came and Allah’s command prevailed, much as they were averse.

وَمِنْهُم مَّن يَقُولُ ٱئْذَن لِّى وَلَا تَفْتِنِّىٓ‌ۚ أَلَا فِى ٱلْفِتْنَةِ سَقَطُواْ‌ۗ وَإِنَّ جَهَنَّمَ لَمُحِيطَةُۢ بِٱلْكَـٰفِرِينَ٤٩

вəминhум-мəй-йəќуулю-'з̃əл-лии вəлəə тəфтинний, əлəə фииль-фитнəти сəќōт̣уу, вəиннə джəhəннəмə лəмуhиит̣ōтумм-биль-кəəфириин

Among them there are some who say, ‘Give me leave, and do not put me to temptation.’ Look! They have already fallen into temptation and indeed hell besieges the faithless.

إِن تُصِبْكَ حَسَنَةٌ تَسُؤْهُمْ‌ۖ وَإِن تُصِبْكَ مُصِيبَةٌ يَقُولُواْ قَدْ أَخَذْنَآ أَمْرَنَا مِن قَبْلُ وَيَتَوَلَّواْ وَّهُمْ فَرِحُونَ٥٠

иӈ-тусыбкə həсəнəтун тəсу'hум, вəиӈ-тусыбкə мусыыбəтуй-йəќуулюю ќōд əхōз̃нəə əмрōнəə миӈ-ќōблю вəйəтəвəльлəу-вəhум фəриhуун

If some good should befall you, it upsets them; but if an adversity befalls you, they say, ‘We had already taken our precautions in advance,’ and they go away boasting.

قُل لَّن يُصِيبَنَآ إِلَّا مَا كَتَبَ ٱللَّهُ لَنَا هُوَ مَوْلَـٰنَا‌ۚ وَعَلَى ٱللَّهِ فَلْيَتَوَكَّلِ ٱلْمُؤْمِنُونَ٥١

ќуль-лэй-йусыыбəнəə ильлəə мəə кəтəбə ллаhу лəнəə hувə мəулəəнəə, вə'əлəə ллаhи фəльйəтəвəккəлиль-му'минуун

Say, ‘Nothing will befall us except what Allah has ordained for us. He is our master, and in Allah let all the faithful put their trust.’

قُلْ هَلْ تَرَبَّصُونَ بِنَآ إِلَّآ إِحْدَى ٱلْحُسْنَيَيْنِ‌ۖ وَنَحْنُ نَتَرَبَّصُ بِكُمْ أَن يُصِيبَكُمُ ٱللَّهُ بِعَذَابٍ مِّنْ عِندِهِۦٓ أَوْ بِأَيْدِينَا‌ۖ فَتَرَبَّصُوٓاْ إِنَّا مَعَكُم مُّتَرَبِّصُونَ٥٢

ќуль həль тəрōббəсуунə бинəə ильлəə иhдəəль-hуснəйəйн, вəнəhну нəтəрōббəсу бикум əй-йусыыбəкуму ллаhу би'əз̃əəбимм-мин 'иӈдиhи əу биəйдиинəə, фəтəрōббəсуу иннəə мə'əкум-мутəрōббисуун

Say, ‘Do you not await one of the two excellent things to happen to us? But we await that Allah shall visit on you a punishment, from Him, or by our hands. So wait! We too are waiting along with you.’

قُلْ أَنفِقُواْ طَوْعًا أَوْ كَرْهًا لَّن يُتَقَبَّلَ مِنكُمْ‌ۖ إِنَّكُمْ كُنتُمْ قَوْمًا فَـٰسِقِينَ٥٣

ќуль əӈфиќуу т̣ōу'əн əу кəрhəль-лэй-йутəќōббəлə миӈкум, иннəкум куӈтум ќōумəн фəəсиќиин

Say, ‘Spend willingly or unwillingly, it shall never be accepted from you; for you are indeed a transgressing lot.’

وَمَا مَنَعَهُمْ أَن تُقْبَلَ مِنْهُمْ نَفَقَـٰتُهُمْ إِلَّآ أَنَّهُمْ كَفَرُواْ بِٱللَّهِ وَبِرَسُولِهِۦ وَلَا يَأْتُونَ ٱلصَّلَوٲةَ إِلَّا وَهُمْ كُسَالَىٰ وَلَا يُنفِقُونَ إِلَّا وَهُمْ كَـٰرِهُونَ٥٤

вəмəə мəнə'əhум əӈ-туќбəлə минhум нəфəќōōтуhум ильлəə əннəhум кəфəруу биль-лəhи вəбирōсуулиhи вəлəə йəтуунə ссōлəəтə ильлəə вəhум кусəəлəə вəлəə йуӈфиќуунə ильлəə вəhум кəəриhуун

Nothing stops their charities from being accepted except that they have no faith in Allah and His Apostle and do not perform the prayer but lazily, and do not spend but reluctantly.

فَلَا تُعْجِبْكَ أَمْوَٲلُهُمْ وَلَآ أَوْلَـٰدُهُمْ‌ۚ إِنَّمَا يُرِيدُ ٱللَّهُ لِيُعَذِّبَهُم بِهَا فِى ٱلْحَيَوٲةِ ٱلدُّنْيَا وَتَزْهَقَ أَنفُسُهُمْ وَهُمْ كَـٰفِرُونَ٥٥

фəлəə ту'джибкə əмвəəлюhум вəлəə əулəəдуhум, иннəмəə йурииду ллаhу лийу'əз̃з̃ибəhумм-биhəə фииль-həйəəти ддунйəə вəтəзhəќō əӈфусуhум вəhум кəəфируун

So let not their wealth and children impress you: Allah only desires to punish them with these in the life of this world, and that their souls may depart while they are faithless.

وَيَحْلِفُونَ بِٱللَّهِ إِنَّهُمْ لَمِنكُمْ وَمَا هُم مِّنكُمْ وَلَـٰكِنَّهُمْ قَوْمٌ يَفْرَقُونَ٥٦

вəйəhлифуунə биль-лəhи иннəhум лəмиӈкум вəмəə hум-миӈкум вəлəəкиннəhум ќōумуй-йəфрōќуун

They swear by Allah that they belong to you, but they do not belong to you. Rather, they are a frightened lot.

لَوْ يَجِدُونَ مَلْجَــًٔا أَوْ مَغَـٰرَٲتٍ أَوْ مُدَّخَلاً لَّوَلَّوْاْ إِلَيْهِ وَهُمْ يَجْمَحُونَ٥٧

лəу йəджидуунə мəльджəəн əу мəґōōрōōтин əу муддəхōлəль-лəвəльлəу илəйhи вəhум йəджмəhуун

If they could find a refuge, or a hideout, or a hole [to creep into], they would turn to it in frantic haste.

وَمِنْهُم مَّن يَلْمِزُكَ فِى ٱلصَّدَقَـٰتِ فَإِنْ أُعْطُواْ مِنْهَا رَضُواْ وَإِن لَّمْ يُعْطَوْاْ مِنْهَآ إِذَا هُمْ يَسْخَطُونَ٥٨

вəминhум-мəй-йəльмизукə фии ссōдəќōōти фəин у'т̣уу минhəə рōдуу вəиль-лəм йу'т̣ōу минhəə из̃əə hум йəсхōт̣уун

There are some of them who blame you regarding [the distribution of] the charities: if they are given from them, they are pleased, but if they are not given from them, behold, they are displeased.

وَلَوْ أَنَّهُمْ رَضُواْ مَآ ءَاتَـٰهُمُ ٱللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُۥ وَقَالُواْ حَسْبُنَا ٱللَّهُ سَيُؤْتِينَا ٱللَّهُ مِن فَضْلِهِۦ وَرَسُولُهُۥٓ إِنَّآ إِلَى ٱللَّهِ رَٲغِبُونَ٥٩

вəлəу əннəhум рōдуу мəə əəтəəhуму ллаhу вəрōсуулюhу вəќōōлюю həсбунəə ллаhу сəйу'тиинəə ллаhу миӈ-фəдлиhи вəрōсуулюhу иннəə илəə ллаhи рōōґибуун

[It would have been better] if they had been pleased with what Allah and His Apostle gave them, and had said, ‘Allah is sufficient for us; Allah and His Apostle will give to us out of His grace. Indeed to Allah do we eagerly turn.’

إِنَّمَا ٱلصَّدَقَـٰتُ لِلْفُقَرَآءِ وَٱلْمَسَـٰكِينِ وَٱلْعَـٰمِلِينَ عَلَيْهَا وَٱلْمُؤَلَّفَةِ قُلُوبُهُمْ وَفِى ٱلرِّقَابِ وَٱلْغَـٰرِمِينَ وَفِى سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ وَٱبْنِ ٱلسَّبِيلِ‌ۖ فَرِيضَةً مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ‌ۗ وَٱللَّهُ عَلِيمٌ حَكِيمٌ٦٠

иннəмəə ссōдəќōōту ли-ль-фуќōрōō'и вəəльмəсəəкиини вəəль'əəмилиинə 'əлэйhəə вəəльму'əльлəфəти ќулююбуhум вəфии рриќōōби вəəльґōōримиинə вəфии сəбиили льлəhи вəəбни ссəбииль, фəриидōтəмм-минə ллаh, вə ллаhу 'əлиимун həкиим

The charities are only for the poor and the needy, and those employed to collect them, and those whose hearts are to be reconciled, and for [the freedom of] the slaves and the debtors, and in the way of Allah, and for the traveller. [This is] an ordinance from Allah, and Allah is all-knowing, all-wise.

وَمِنْهُمُ ٱلَّذِينَ يُؤْذُونَ ٱلنَّبِىَّ وَيَقُولُونَ هُوَ أُذُنٌ‌ۚ قُلْ أُذُنُ خَيْرٍ لَّكُمْ يُؤْمِنُ بِٱللَّهِ وَيُؤْمِنُ لِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَرَحْمَةٌ لِّلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ مِنكُمْ‌ۚ وَٱلَّذِينَ يُؤْذُونَ رَسُولَ ٱللَّهِ لَهُمْ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ٦١

вəминhуму льлəз̃иинə йу'з̃уунə ннəбиййə вəйəќуулююнə hувə уз̃ун, ќуль уз̃уну хōйриль-лəкум йу'мину биль-лəhи вəйу'мину ли-ль-му'миниинə вəрōhмəтул-лильлəз̃иинə əəмəнуу миӈкум, вəль-лəз̃иинə йу'з̃уунə рōсуулə ллаhи лəhум 'əз̃əəбун əлиим

Among them are those who torment the Prophet, and say, ‘He is an ear.’ Say, ‘An ear that is good for you. He has faith in Allah and trusts the faithful, and is a mercy for those of you who have faith.’ As for those who torment the Apostle of Allah, there is a painful punishment for them.

يَحْلِفُونَ بِٱللَّهِ لَكُمْ لِيُرْضُوكُمْ وَٱللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُۥٓ أَحَقُّ أَن يُرْضُوهُ إِن كَانُواْ مُؤْمِنِينَ٦٢

йəhлифуунə биль-лəhи лəкум лийурдуукум вə ллаhу вəрōсуулюhу əhəќќу əй-йурдууhу иӈ-кəəнуу му'миниин

They swear to you by Allah, to please you; but Allah and His Apostle are worthier that they should please Him, should they be faithful.

أَلَمْ يَعْلَمُوٓاْ أَنَّهُۥ مَن يُحَادِدِ ٱللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُۥ فَأَنَّ لَهُۥ نَارَ جَهَنَّمَ خَـٰلِدًا فِيهَا‌ۚ ذَٲلِكَ ٱلْخِزْىُ ٱلْعَظِيمُ٦٣

əлəм йə'лəмуу əннəhу мəй-йуhəəдиди льлəhə вəрōсуулəhу фəəннə лəhу нəəрō джəhəннəмə хōōлидəн фииhəə, з̃əəликəль-хызйуль-'əз̃ыым

Do they not know that whoever opposes Allah and His Apostle, there awaits him the Fire of hell, to remain in it [forever]? That is the great disgrace.

يَحْذَرُ ٱلْمُنَـٰفِقُونَ أَن تُنَزَّلَ عَلَيْهِمْ سُورَةٌ تُنَبِّئُهُم بِمَا فِى قُلُوبِهِمْ‌ۚ قُلِ ٱسْتَهْزِءُوٓاْ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ مُخْرِجٌ مَّا تَحْذَرُونَ٦٤

йəhз̃əруль-мунəəфиќуунə əӈ-тунəззəлə 'əлэйhим суурōтун тунəбби'уhумм-бимəə фии ќулююбиhим, ќули-стəhзи'уу иннə ллаhə мухриджумм-мəə тəhз̃əруун

The hypocrites are apprehensive lest a surah should be sent down against them, informing them about what is in their hearts. Say, ‘Go on deriding. Allah will indeed bring out what you are apprehensive of.’

وَلَئِن سَأَلْتَهُمْ لَيَقُولُنَّ إِنَّمَا كُنَّا نَخُوضُ وَنَلْعَبُ‌ۚ قُلْ أَبِٱللَّهِ وَءَايَـٰتِهِۦ وَرَسُولِهِۦ كُنتُمْ تَسْتَهْزِءُونَ٦٥

вəлə'иӈ-сəəльтəhум лəйəќуулюннə иннəмəə куннəə нəхууду вəнəль'əб, ќуль əбиль-лəhи вə'əəйəəтиhи вəрōсуулиhи куӈтум тəстəhзи'уун

If you question them [regarding their conduct], they will surely say, ‘We were just gossiping and amusing ourselves.’ Say, ‘Were you deriding Allah, His signs, and His apostles?

لَا تَعْتَذِرُواْ قَدْ كَفَرْتُم بَعْدَ إِيمَـٰنِكُمْ‌ۚ إِن نَّعْفُ عَن طَآئِفَةٍ مِّنكُمْ نُعَذِّبْ طَآئِفَةَۢ بِأَنَّهُمْ كَانُواْ مُجْرِمِينَ٦٦

лəə тə'тəз̃ируу ќōд кəфəртумм-бə'дə иимəəникум, ин-нə'фу 'əӈ-т̣ōō'ифəтимм-миӈкум ну'əз̃з̃иб т̣ōō'ифəтəмм-биəннəhум кəəнуу муджримиин

Do not make excuses. You have disbelieved after your faith.’ If We forgive a group among you, We will punish another group, for they have been guilty.

ٱلْمُنَـٰفِقُونَ وَٱلْمُنَـٰفِقَـٰتُ بَعْضُهُم مِّنۢ بَعْضٍ‌ۚ يَأْمُرُونَ بِٱلْمُنكَرِ وَيَنْهَوْنَ عَنِ ٱلْمَعْرُوفِ وَيَقْبِضُونَ أَيْدِيَهُمْ‌ۚ نَسُواْ ٱللَّهَ فَنَسِيَهُمْ‌ۗ إِنَّ ٱلْمُنَـٰفِقِينَ هُمُ ٱلْفَـٰسِقُونَ٦٧

əль-мунəəфиќуунə вəəльмунəəфиќōōту бə'дуhум-мимм-бə'д, йəмуруунə биль-муӈкəри вəйəнhəунə 'əниль-мə'рууфи вəйəќбидуунə əйдийəhум, нəсуу ллаhə фəнəсийəhум, иннəль-мунəəфиќиинə hумуль-фəəсиќуун

The hypocrites, men and women, are all alike: they bid what is wrong and forbid what is right; and are tight-fisted. They have forgotten Allah, so He has forgotten them. The hypocrites are indeed the transgressors.

وَعَدَ ٱللَّهُ ٱلْمُنَـٰفِقِينَ وَٱلْمُنَـٰفِقَـٰتِ وَٱلْكُفَّارَ نَارَ جَهَنَّمَ خَـٰلِدِينَ فِيهَا‌ۚ هِىَ حَسْبُهُمْ‌ۚ وَلَعَنَهُمُ ٱللَّهُ‌ۖ وَلَهُمْ عَذَابٌ مُّقِيمٌ٦٨

вə'əдə ллаhуль-мунəəфиќиинə вəəльмунəəфиќōōти вəəлькуффəəрō нəəрō джəhəннəмə хōōлидиинə фииhəə, hийə həсбуhум, вəлə'əнəhуму ллаh, вəлəhум 'əз̃əəбумм-муќиим

Allah has promised the hypocrites, men and women, and the faithless, the Fire of hell, to remain in it [forever]. That suffices them. Allah has cursed them, and there is a lasting punishment for them.

كَٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِكُمْ كَانُوٓاْ أَشَدَّ مِنكُمْ قُوَّةً وَأَكْثَرَ أَمْوَٲلاً وَأَوْلَـٰدًا فَٱسْتَمْتَعُواْ بِخَلَـٰقِهِمْ فَٱسْتَمْتَعْتُم بِخَلَـٰقِكُمْ كَمَا ٱسْتَمْتَعَ ٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِكُم بِخَلَـٰقِهِمْ وَخُضْتُمْ كَٱلَّذِى خَاضُوٓاْ‌ۚ أُوْلَـٰٓئِكَ حَبِطَتْ أَعْمَـٰلُهُمْ فِى ٱلدُّنْيَا وَٱلْأَخِرَةِ‌ۖ وَأُوْلَـٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلْخَـٰسِرُونَ٦٩

кəəль-лəз̃иинə миӈ-ќōбликум кəəнуу əшəддə миӈкум ќуувəтəу-вəəкc̃əрō əмвəəлəу-вəəулəəдəн фəəстəмтə'уу бихōлəəќиhим фəəстəмтə'тумм-бихōлəəќикум кəмəə-стəмтə'ə льлəз̃иинə миӈ-ќōбликумм-бихōлəəќиhим вəхудтум кəəльлəз̃ии хōōдуу, уулəə'икə həбит̣ōт ə'мəəлюhум фии ддунйəə вəəль'əəхырōh, вə-уулəə'икə hумуль-хōōсируун

[Hypocrites! Your case is] similar to those who were before you, who were more powerful than you and more abounding in wealth and children: they enjoyed their share [of worldly existence]; you too enjoy your share, just like those who were before you enjoyed their share, and you have gossiped [impiously] as they gossiped. They are the ones whose works have failed in this world and the Hereafter; and it is they who are the losers.

أَلَمْ يَأْتِهِمْ نَبَأُ ٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِهِمْ قَوْمِ نُوحٍ وَعَادٍ وَثَمُودَ وَقَوْمِ إِبْرَٲهِيمَ وَأَصْحَـٰبِ مَدْيَنَ وَٱلْمُؤْتَفِكَـٰتِ‌ۚ أَتَتْهُمْ رُسُلُهُم بِٱلْبَيِّنَـٰتِ‌ۖ فَمَا كَانَ ٱللَّهُ لِيَظْلِمَهُمْ وَلَـٰكِن كَانُوٓاْ أَنفُسَهُمْ يَظْلِمُونَ٧٠

əлəм йəтиhим нəбəу льлəз̃иинə миӈ-ќōблиhим ќōуми нууhиу-вə'əəдиу-вəc̃əмуудə вəќōуми ибрōōhиимə вəəсhəəби мəдйəнə вəəльму'тəфикəəт, əтəтhум русулюhумм-биль-бэййинəəт, фəмəə кəəнə ллаhу лийəз̃лимəhум вəлəəкиӈ-кəəнуу əӈфусəhум йəз̃лимуун

Has there not come to them the account of those who were before them—the people of Noah, ‘Ad, and Tham£d, and the people of Abraham, the inhabitants of Midian, and the towns that were overturned? Their apostles brought them manifest proofs. So it was not Allah who wronged them, but it was they who used to wrong themselves.

وَٱلْمُؤْمِنُونَ وَٱلْمُؤْمِنَـٰتُ بَعْضُهُمْ أَوْلِيَآءُ بَعْضٍ‌ۚ يَأْمُرُونَ بِٱلْمَعْرُوفِ وَيَنْهَوْنَ عَنِ ٱلْمُنكَرِ وَيُقِيمُونَ ٱلصَّلَوٲةَ وَيُؤْتُونَ ٱلزَّكَوٲةَ وَيُطِيعُونَ ٱللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُۥٓ‌ۚ أُوْلَـٰٓئِكَ سَيَرْحَمُهُمُ ٱللَّهُ‌ۗ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ عَزِيزٌ حَكِيمٌ٧١

вəəльму'минуунə вəəльму'минəəту бə'дуhум əулийəə'у бə'д, йəмуруунə биль-мə'рууфи вəйəнhəунə 'əниль-муӈкəри вəйуќиимуунə ссōлəəтə вəйу'туунə ззəкəəтə вəйут̣ыы'уунə ллаhə вəрōсуулəh, уулəə'икə сəйəрhəмуhуму ллаh, иннə ллаhə 'əзиизун həкиим

But the faithful, men and women, are comrades of one another: they bid what is right and forbid what is wrong and maintain the prayer, give the zakat, and obey Allah and His Apostle. It is they to whom Allah will soon grant His mercy. Indeed Allah is all-mighty, all-wise.

وَعَدَ ٱللَّهُ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَٱلْمُؤْمِنَـٰتِ جَنَّـٰتٍ تَجْرِى مِن تَحْتِهَا ٱلْأَنْهَـٰرُ خَـٰلِدِينَ فِيهَا وَمَسَـٰكِنَ طَيِّبَةً فِى جَنَّـٰتِ عَدْنٍ‌ۚ وَرِضْوَٲنٌ مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ أَكْبَرُ‌ۚ ذَٲلِكَ هُوَ ٱلْفَوْزُ ٱلْعَظِيمُ٧٢

вə'əдə ллаhуль-му'миниинə вəəльму'минəəти джəннəəтин тəджрии миӈ-тəhтиhəəль-əнhəəру хōōлидиинə фииhəə вəмəсəəкинə т̣ōййибəтəн фии джəннəəти 'əдн, вəридвəəнумм-минə ллаhи əкбəр, з̃əəликə hувəль-фəузуль-'əз̃ыым

Allah has promised the faithful, men and women, gardens with streams running in them, to remain in them [forever], and good dwellings in the Gardens of Eden. Yet Allah’s pleasure is greater [than all these]; that is the great success.

يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلنَّبِىُّ جَـٰهِدِ ٱلْكُفَّارَ وَٱلْمُنَـٰفِقِينَ وَٱغْلُظْ عَلَيْهِمْ‌ۚ وَمَأْوَٮٰهُمْ جَهَنَّمُ‌ۖ وَبِئْسَ ٱلْمَصِيرُ٧٣

йəə əййуhəə ннəбиййу джəəhидиль-куффəəрō вəəльмунəəфиќиинə вəəґлюз̃ 'əлэйhим, вəмəвəəhум джəhəннəм, вəби'сəль-мəсыыр

O Prophet! Wage jihad against the faithless and the hypocrites, and be severe with them. Their refuge shall be hell, and it is an evil destination.

يَحْلِفُونَ بِٱللَّهِ مَا قَالُواْ وَلَقَدْ قَالُواْ كَلِمَةَ ٱلْكُفْرِ وَكَفَرُواْ بَعْدَ إِسْلَـٰمِهِمْ وَهَمُّواْ بِمَا لَمْ يَنَالُواْ‌ۚ وَمَا نَقَمُوٓاْ إِلَّآ أَنْ أَغْنَـٰهُمُ ٱللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُۥ مِن فَضْلِهِۦ‌ۚ فَإِن يَتُوبُواْ يَكُ خَيْرًا لَّهُمْ‌ۖ وَإِن يَتَوَلَّوْاْ يُعَذِّبْهُمُ ٱللَّهُ عَذَابًا أَلِيمًا فِى ٱلدُّنْيَا وَٱلْأَخِرَةِ‌ۚ وَمَا لَهُمْ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ مِن وَلِىٍّ وَلَا نَصِيرٍ٧٤

йəhлифуунə биль-лəhи мəə ќōōлюю вəлəќōд ќōōлюю кəлимəтəль-куфри вəкəфəруу бə'дə ислəəмиhим вəhəммуу бимəə лəм йəнəəлюу, вəмəə нəќōмуу ильлəə əн əґнəəhуму ллаhу вəрōсуулюhу миӈ-фəдлиh, фəий-йəтуубуу йəку хōйрōль-лəhум, вəий-йəтəвəльлəу йу'əз̃з̃ибhуму ллаhу 'əз̃əəбəн əлиимəн фии ддунйəə вəəль'əəхырōh, вəмəə лəhум фииль-əрды миу-вəлиййиу-вəлəə нəсыыр

They swear by Allah that they did not say it. But they certainly did utter the word of unfaith and renounced faith after their Islam. They contemplated what they could not achieve, and they were vindictive only because Allah and His Apostle had enriched them out of His grace. Yet if they repent, it will be better for them; but if they turn away, Allah shall punish them with a painful punishment in this world and the Hereafter, and they shall not find on the earth any guardian or helper.

وَمِنْهُم مَّنْ عَـٰهَدَ ٱللَّهَ لَئِنْ ءَاتَـٰنَا مِن فَضْلِهِۦ لَنَصَّدَّقَنَّ وَلَنَكُونَنَّ مِنَ ٱلصَّـٰلِحِينَ٧٥

вəминhум-мəн 'əəhəдə ллаhə лə'ин əəтəəнəə миӈ-фəдлиhи лəнəссōддəќōннə вəлəнəкуунəннə минə ссōōлиhиин

Among them are those who made a pledge with Allah: ‘If He gives us out of His grace, we will surely give the zakat and we will surely be among the righteous.’

فَلَمَّآ ءَاتَـٰهُم مِّن فَضْلِهِۦ بَخِلُواْ بِهِۦ وَتَوَلَّواْ وَّهُم مُّعْرِضُونَ٧٦

фəлəммəə əəтəəhум-миӈ-фəдлиhи бəхылюю биhи вəтəвəльлəу-вəhум-му'ридуун

But when He gave them out of His grace, they begrudged it and turned away, being disregardful.

فَأَعْقَبَهُمْ نِفَاقًا فِى قُلُوبِهِمْ إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ يَلْقَوْنَهُۥ بِمَآ أَخْلَفُواْ ٱللَّهَ مَا وَعَدُوهُ وَبِمَا كَانُواْ يَكْذِبُونَ٧٧

фəə'ќōбəhум нифəəќōн фии ќулююбиhим илəə йəуми йəльќōунəhу бимəə əхлəфуу ллаhə мəə вə'əдууhу вəбимəə кəəнуу йəкз̃ибуун

So He caused hypocrisy to ensue in their hearts until the day they will encounter Him, because of their going back on what they had promised Allah and because of the lies they used to tell.

أَلَمْ يَعْلَمُوٓاْ أَنَّ ٱللَّهَ يَعْلَمُ سِرَّهُمْ وَنَجْوَٮٰهُمْ وَأَنَّ ٱللَّهَ عَلَّـٰمُ ٱلْغُيُوبِ٧٨

əлəм йə'лəмуу əннə ллаhə йə'лəму сиррōhум вəнəджвəəhум вəəннə ллаhə 'əльлəəмуль-ґуйууб

Do they not know that Allah knows their secret [thoughts] and [hears] their secret talks, and that Allah is knower of all that is Unseen?

ٱلَّذِينَ يَلْمِزُونَ ٱلْمُطَّوِّعِينَ مِنَ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ فِى ٱلصَّدَقَـٰتِ وَٱلَّذِينَ لَا يَجِدُونَ إِلَّا جُهْدَهُمْ فَيَسْخَرُونَ مِنْهُمْ‌ۙ سَخِرَ ٱللَّهُ مِنْهُمْ وَلَهُمْ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ٧٩

əль-лəз̃иинə йəльмизуунəль-мут̣т̣ōуви'иинə минəль-му'миниинə фии ссōдəќōōти вəль-лəз̃иинə лəə йəджидуунə ильлəə джуhдəhум фəйəсхōруунə минhум сəхырō ллаhу минhум вəлəhум 'əз̃əəбун əлиим

Those who blame the voluntary donors from among the faithful concerning the charities—and as for those who do not find [anything] except [what] their means [permit], they ridicule them—Allah shall put them to ridicule, and there is a painful punishment for them.

ٱسْتَغْفِرْ لَهُمْ أَوْ لَا تَسْتَغْفِرْ لَهُمْ إِن تَسْتَغْفِرْ لَهُمْ سَبْعِينَ مَرَّةً فَلَن يَغْفِرَ ٱللَّهُ لَهُمْ‌ۚ ذَٲلِكَ بِأَنَّهُمْ كَفَرُواْ بِٱللَّهِ وَرَسُولِهِۦ‌ۗ وَٱللَّهُ لَا يَهْدِى ٱلْقَوْمَ ٱلْفَـٰسِقِينَ٨٠

истəґфир лəhум əу лəə тəстəґфир лəhум иӈ-тəстəґфир лəhум сəб'иинə мəррōтəн фəлэй-йəґфирō ллаhу лəhум, з̃əəликə биəннəhум кəфəруу биль-лəhи вəрōсуулиh, вə ллаhу лəə йəhдииль-ќōумəль-фəəсиќиин

Whether you plead forgiveness for them or do not plead forgiveness for them, even if you plead forgiveness for them seventy times, Allah shall never forgive them because they defied Allah and His Apostle; and Allah does not guide the transgressing lot.

فَرِحَ ٱلْمُخَلَّفُونَ بِمَقْعَدِهِمْ خِلَـٰفَ رَسُولِ ٱللَّهِ وَكَرِهُوٓاْ أَن يُجَـٰهِدُواْ بِأَمْوَٲلِهِمْ وَأَنفُسِهِمْ فِى سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ وَقَالُواْ لَا تَنفِرُواْ فِى ٱلْحَرِّ‌ۗ قُلْ نَارُ جَهَنَّمَ أَشَدُّ حَرًّا‌ۚ لَّوْ كَانُواْ يَفْقَهُونَ٨١

фəриhəль-мухōльлəфуунə бимəќ'əдиhим хылəəфə рōсуули льлəhи вəкəриhуу əй-йуджəəhидуу биəмвəəлиhим вəəӈфусиhим фии сəбиили льлəhи вəќōōлюю лəə тəӈфируу фииль-həрр, ќуль нəəру джəhəннəмə əшəдду həррō, лəу кəəнуу йəфќōhуун

Those who were left behind boasted for sitting back against [the command of] the Apostle of Allah, and were reluctant to wage jihad with their possessions and persons in the way of Allah, and they said, ‘Do not go forth in this heat.’ Say, The fire of hell is severer in heat, should they understand.

فَلْيَضْحَكُواْ قَلِيلاً وَلْيَبْكُواْ كَثِيرًا جَزَآءَۢ بِمَا كَانُواْ يَكْسِبُونَ٨٢

фəльйəдhəкуу ќōлиилəу-вəльйəбкуу кəc̃иирōн джəзəə'əмм-бимəə кəəнуу йəксибуун

So let them laugh a little; much will they weep as a requital for what they used to earn.

فَإِن رَّجَعَكَ ٱللَّهُ إِلَىٰ طَآئِفَةٍ مِّنْهُمْ فَٱسْتَــْٔذَنُوكَ لِلْخُرُوجِ فَقُل لَّن تَخْرُجُواْ مَعِىَ أَبَدًا وَلَن تُقَـٰتِلُواْ مَعِىَ عَدُوًّا‌ۖ إِنَّكُمْ رَضِيتُم بِٱلْقُعُودِ أَوَّلَ مَرَّةٍ فَٱقْعُدُواْ مَعَ ٱلْخَـٰلِفِينَ٨٣

фəир-рōджə'əкə ллаhу илəə т̣ōō'ифəтимм-минhум фəəстəз̃əнуукə ли-ль-хурууджи фəќуль-лəӈ-тəхруджуу мə'ийə əбəдəу-вəлəӈ-туќōōтилюю мə'ийə 'əдуувə, иннəкум рōдыытумм-биль-ќу'ууди əувəлə мəррōтин фəəќ'удуу мə'əль-хōōлифиин

If Allah brings you back [from the battlefront] to a group of them and they seek your permission to go forth, say, ‘You shall never go forth with me, and you shall not fight with me against any enemy. You were indeed pleased to sit back the first time, so sit back with those who stay behind.’

وَلَا تُصَلِّ عَلَىٰٓ أَحَدٍ مِّنْهُم مَّاتَ أَبَدًا وَلَا تَقُمْ عَلَىٰ قَبْرِهِۦٓ‌ۖ إِنَّهُمْ كَفَرُواْ بِٱللَّهِ وَرَسُولِهِۦ وَمَاتُواْ وَهُمْ فَـٰسِقُونَ٨٤

вəлəə тусōлли 'əлəə əhəдимм-минhум-мəəтə əбəдəу-вəлəə тəќум 'əлəə ќōбриh, иннəhум кəфəруу биль-лəhи вəрōсуулиhи вəмəəтуу вəhум фəəсиќуун

And never pray over any of them when he dies, nor stand at his graveside. They indeed defied Allah and His Apostle and died as transgressors.

وَلَا تُعْجِبْكَ أَمْوَٲلُهُمْ وَأَوْلَـٰدُهُمْ‌ۚ إِنَّمَا يُرِيدُ ٱللَّهُ أَن يُعَذِّبَهُم بِهَا فِى ٱلدُّنْيَا وَتَزْهَقَ أَنفُسُهُمْ وَهُمْ كَـٰفِرُونَ٨٥

вəлəə ту'джибкə əмвəəлюhум вəəулəəдуhум, иннəмəə йурииду ллаhу əй-йу'əз̃з̃ибəhумм-биhəə фии ддунйəə вəтəзhəќō əӈфусуhум вəhум кəəфируун

Let not their possessions or their children impress you. Allah only desires to punish them with these in this world, and that their souls may depart while they are faithless.

وَإِذَآ أُنزِلَتْ سُورَةٌ أَنْ ءَامِنُواْ بِٱللَّهِ وَجَـٰهِدُواْ مَعَ رَسُولِهِ ٱسْتَــْٔذَنَكَ أُوْلُواْ ٱلطَّوْلِ مِنْهُمْ وَقَالُواْ ذَرْنَا نَكُن مَّعَ ٱلْقَـٰعِدِينَ٨٦

вəиз̃əə уӈзилəт суурōтун əн əəминуу биль-лəhи вəджəəhидуу мə'ə рōсуулиhи-стəз̃əнəкə уулюю т̣т̣ōули минhум вəќōōлюю з̃əрнəə нəкумм-мə'əль-ќōō'идиин

When a surah is sent down [declaring]: ‘Have faith in Allah, and wage jihad along with His Apostle, the affluent among them ask you for leave, and say, ‘Let us remain with those who sit back.’

رَضُواْ بِأَن يَكُونُواْ مَعَ ٱلْخَوَالِفِ وَطُبِعَ عَلَىٰ قُلُوبِهِمْ فَهُمْ لَا يَفْقَهُونَ٨٧

рōдуу биəй-йəкуунуу мə'əль-хōвəəлифи вəт̣уби'ə 'əлəə ќулююбиhим фəhум лəə йəфќōhуун

They are pleased to be with those who stay back, and their hearts have been sealed. So they do not understand.

لَـٰكِنِ ٱلرَّسُولُ وَٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ مَعَهُۥ جَـٰهَدُواْ بِأَمْوَٲلِهِمْ وَأَنفُسِهِمْ‌ۚ وَأُوْلَـٰٓئِكَ لَهُمُ ٱلْخَيْرَٲتُ‌ۖ وَأُوْلَـٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلْمُفْلِحُونَ٨٨

лəəкини ррōсуулю вəль-лəз̃иинə əəмəнуу мə'əhу джəəhəдуу биəмвəəлиhим вəəӈфусиhим, вə-уулəə'икə лəhумуль-хōйрōōт, вə-уулəə'икə hумуль-муфлиhуун

But the Apostle and the faithful who are with him wage jihad with their possessions and persons, and to such belong all the blessings, and it is they who are the felicitous.

أَعَدَّ ٱللَّهُ لَهُمْ جَنَّـٰتٍ تَجْرِى مِن تَحْتِهَا ٱلْأَنْهَـٰرُ خَـٰلِدِينَ فِيهَا‌ۚ ذَٲلِكَ ٱلْفَوْزُ ٱلْعَظِيمُ٨٩

ə'əддə ллаhу лəhум джəннəəтин тəджрии миӈ-тəhтиhəəль-əнhəəру хōōлидиинə фииhəə, з̃əəликəль-фəузуль-'əз̃ыым

Allah has prepared for them gardens with streams running in them, to remain in them [forever]. That is the great success.

وَجَآءَ ٱلْمُعَذِّرُونَ مِنَ ٱلْأَعْرَابِ لِيُؤْذَنَ لَهُمْ وَقَعَدَ ٱلَّذِينَ كَذَبُواْ ٱللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُۥ‌ۚ سَيُصِيبُ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ مِنْهُمْ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ٩٠

вəджəə'əль-му'əз̃з̃ируунə минəль-ə'рōōби лийу'з̃əнə лəhум вəќō'əдə льлəз̃иинə кəз̃əбуу ллаhə вəрōсуулəh, сəйусыыбу льлəз̃иинə кəфəруу минhум 'əз̃əəбун əлиим

Some of the Bedouins who sought to be excused came, so that they may be granted leave [to stay back]; while those who lied to Allah and His Apostle sat back. Soon there shall visit the faithless among them a painful punishment.

لَّيْسَ عَلَى ٱلضُّعَفَآءِ وَلَا عَلَى ٱلْمَرْضَىٰ وَلَا عَلَى ٱلَّذِينَ لَا يَجِدُونَ مَا يُنفِقُونَ حَرَجٌ إِذَا نَصَحُواْ لِلَّهِ وَرَسُولِهِۦ‌ۚ مَا عَلَى ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ مِن سَبِيلٍ‌ۚ وَٱللَّهُ غَفُورٌ رَّحِيمٌ٩١

лэйсə 'əлəə дду'əфəə'и вəлəə 'əлəəль-мəрдōō вəлəə 'əлəə льлəз̃иинə лəə йəджидуунə мəə йуӈфиќуунə həрōджун из̃əə нəсōhуу ли-Ллəhи вəрōсуулиh, мəə 'əлəəль-муhсиниинə миӈ-сəбииль, вə ллаhу ґōфууруррōhиим

There is no blame on the weak, nor on the sick, nor on those who do not find anything to spend, so long as they are sincere to Allah and His Apostle. There is no [cause for] blaming the virtuous, and Allah is all-forgiving, all-merciful.

وَلَا عَلَى ٱلَّذِينَ إِذَا مَآ أَتَوْكَ لِتَحْمِلَهُمْ قُلْتَ لَآ أَجِدُ مَآ أَحْمِلُكُمْ عَلَيْهِ تَوَلَّواْ وَّأَعْيُنُهُمْ تَفِيضُ مِنَ ٱلدَّمْعِ حَزَنًا أَلَّا يَجِدُواْ مَا يُنفِقُونَ٩٢

вəлəə 'əлəə льлəз̃иинə из̃əə мəə əтəукə литəhмилəhум ќультə лəə əджиду мəə əhмилюкум 'əлэйhи тəвəльлəу-вəə'йунуhум тəфииду минə ддəм'и həзəнəн əльлəə йəджидуу мəə йуӈфиќуун

Nor [is there any blame] on those to whom, when they came to you to provide them with a mount, you said, ‘I do not find any mount for you,’ and they turned back, their eyes flowing with tears, grieved because they did not find any means to spend.

إِنَّمَا ٱلسَّبِيلُ عَلَى ٱلَّذِينَ يَسْتَــْٔذِنُونَكَ وَهُمْ أَغْنِيَآءُ‌ۚ رَضُواْ بِأَن يَكُونُواْ مَعَ ٱلْخَوَالِفِ وَطَبَعَ ٱللَّهُ عَلَىٰ قُلُوبِهِمْ فَهُمْ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ٩٣

иннəмəə ссəбиилю 'əлəə льлəз̃иинə йəстəз̃инуунəкə вəhум əґнийəə', рōдуу биəй-йəкуунуу мə'əль-хōвəəлифи вəт̣ōбə'ə ллаhу 'əлəə ќулююбиhим фəhум лəə йə'лəмуун

The blame lies only on those who ask leave of you [to stay behind] though they are well-off. They are pleased to be with those who stay back; Allah has set a seal on their hearts, so they do not know [the outcome of their conduct].

يَعْتَذِرُونَ إِلَيْكُمْ إِذَا رَجَعْتُمْ إِلَيْهِمْ‌ۚ قُل لَّا تَعْتَذِرُواْ لَن نُّؤْمِنَ لَكُمْ قَدْ نَبَّأَنَا ٱللَّهُ مِنْ أَخْبَارِكُمْ‌ۚ وَسَيَرَى ٱللَّهُ عَمَلَكُمْ وَرَسُولُهُۥ ثُمَّ تُرَدُّونَ إِلَىٰ عَـٰلِمِ ٱلْغَيْبِ وَٱلشَّهَـٰدَةِ فَيُنَبِّئُكُم بِمَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ٩٤

йə'тəз̃ируунə илəйкум из̃əə рōджə'тум илəйhим, ќуль-лəə тə'тəз̃ируу лəн-ну'минə лəкум ќōд нəббəəнəə ллаhу мин əхбəəрикум, вəсəйəрōō ллаhу 'əмəлəкум вəрōсуулюhу c̃уммə турōддуунə илəə 'əəлимиль-ґōйби вə шшəhəəдəти фəйунəбби'укумм-бимəə куӈтум тə'мəлююн

They will offer you excuses when you return to them. Say, ‘Do not make excuses; we will never believe you. Allah has informed us of your state of affairs. Allah and His Apostle will observe your conduct, then you will be returned to the Knower of the sensible and the Unseen, and He will inform you concerning what you used to do.’

سَيَحْلِفُونَ بِٱللَّهِ لَكُمْ إِذَا ٱنقَلَبْتُمْ إِلَيْهِمْ لِتُعْرِضُواْ عَنْهُمْ‌ۖ فَأَعْرِضُواْ عَنْهُمْ‌ۖ إِنَّهُمْ رِجْسٌ‌ۖ وَمَأْوَٮٰهُمْ جَهَنَّمُ جَزَآءَۢ بِمَا كَانُواْ يَكْسِبُونَ٩٥

сəйəhлифуунə биль-лəhи лəкум из̃əə-ӈќōлəбтум илəйhим литу'ридуу 'əнhум, фəə'ридуу 'əнhум, иннəhум риджс, вəмəвəəhум джəhəннəму джəзəə'əмм-бимəə кəəнуу йəксибуун

They will swear to you by Allah when you return to them, that you may leave them alone. So leave them alone. They are indeed filth, and their refuge shall be hell, a requital for what they used to earn.

يَحْلِفُونَ لَكُمْ لِتَرْضَوْاْ عَنْهُمْ‌ۖ فَإِن تَرْضَوْاْ عَنْهُمْ فَإِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَا يَرْضَىٰ عَنِ ٱلْقَوْمِ ٱلْفَـٰسِقِينَ٩٦

йəhлифуунə лəкум литəрдōу 'əнhум, фəиӈ-тəрдōу 'əнhум фəиннə ллаhə лəə йəрдōō 'əниль-ќōумиль-фəəсиќиин

They swear to you that you may be reconciled to them. But even if you are reconciled to them, Allah shall not be reconciled to the transgressing lot.

ٱلْأَعْرَابُ أَشَدُّ كُفْرًا وَنِفَاقًا وَأَجْدَرُ أَلَّا يَعْلَمُواْ حُدُودَ مَآ أَنزَلَ ٱللَّهُ عَلَىٰ رَسُولِهِۦ‌ۗ وَٱللَّهُ عَلِيمٌ حَكِيمٌ٩٧

əль-ə'рōōбу əшəдду куфрōу-вəнифəəќōу-вəəдждəру əльлəə йə'лəмуу hудуудə мəə əӈзəлə ллаhу 'əлəə рōсуулиh, вə ллаhу 'əлиимун həкиим

The Bedouins are more obdurate in unfaith and hypocrisy, and more apt to be ignorant of the precepts that Allah has sent down to His Apostle, and Allah is all-knowing, all-wise.

وَمِنَ ٱلْأَعْرَابِ مَن يَتَّخِذُ مَا يُنفِقُ مَغْرَمًا وَيَتَرَبَّصُ بِكُمُ ٱلدَّوَآئِرَ‌ۚ عَلَيْهِمْ دَآئِرَةُ ٱلسَّوْءِ‌ۗ وَٱللَّهُ سَمِيعٌ عَلِيمٌ٩٨

вəминəль-ə'рōōби мəй-йəттəхыз̃у мəə йуӈфиќу мəґрōмəу-вəйəтəрōббəсу бикуму ддəвəə'ир, 'əлэйhим дəə'ирōту ссəу', вə ллаhу сəмии'ун 'əлиим

Among the Bedouins are those who regard what they spend as a loss, and they watch for a reversal of your fortunes. Theirs shall be an adverse turn of fortune, and Allah is all-hearing, all-knowing.

وَمِنَ ٱلْأَعْرَابِ مَن يُؤْمِنُ بِٱللَّهِ وَٱلْيَوْمِ ٱلْأَخِرِ وَيَتَّخِذُ مَا يُنفِقُ قُرُبَـٰتٍ عِندَ ٱللَّهِ وَصَلَوَٲتِ ٱلرَّسُولِ‌ۚ أَلَآ إِنَّهَا قُرْبَةٌ لَّهُمْ‌ۚ سَيُدْخِلُهُمُ ٱللَّهُ فِى رَحْمَتِهِۦٓ‌ۗ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ غَفُورٌ رَّحِيمٌ٩٩

вəминəль-ə'рōōби мəй-йу'мину биль-лəhи вəəльйəумиль-'əəхыри вəйəттəхыз̃у мəə йуӈфиќу ќурубəəтин 'иӈдə ллаhи вəсōлəвəəти ррōсууль, əлəə иннəhəə ќурбəтуль-лəhум, сəйудхылюhуму ллаhу фии рōhмəтиh, иннə ллаhə ґōфууруррōhиим

Yet among the Bedouins are [also] those who believe in Allah and the Last Day, and regard what they spend as [a means of attaining] nearness to Allah and the blessings of the Apostle. Now, it shall indeed bring them nearness, and Allah will admit them into His mercy. Indeed Allah is all-forgiving, all-merciful.

وَٱلسَّـٰبِقُونَ ٱلْأَوَّلُونَ مِنَ ٱلْمُهَـٰجِرِينَ وَٱلْأَنصَارِ وَٱلَّذِينَ ٱتَّبَعُوهُم بِإِحْسَـٰنٍ رَّضِىَ ٱللَّهُ عَنْهُمْ وَرَضُواْ عَنْهُ وَأَعَدَّ لَهُمْ جَنَّـٰتٍ تَجْرِى تَحْتَهَا ٱلْأَنْهَـٰرُ خَـٰلِدِينَ فِيهَآ أَبَدًا‌ۚ ذَٲلِكَ ٱلْفَوْزُ ٱلْعَظِيمُ١٠٠

вə ссəəбиќуунəль-əувəлююнə минəль-муhəəджириинə вəəльəӈсōōри вəль-лəз̃иинə-ттəбə'ууhумм-бииhсəəнир-рōдыйə ллаhу 'əнhум вəрōдуу 'əнhу вəə'əддə лəhум джəннəəтин тəджрии тəhтəhəəль-əнhəəру хōōлидиинə фииhəə əбəдə, з̃əəликəль-фəузуль-'əз̃ыым

The early vanguard of the Emigrants and the Helpers and those who followed them in virtue—Allah is pleased with them and they are pleased with Him, and He has prepared for them gardens with streams running in them, to remain in them forever. That is the great success.

وَمِمَّنْ حَوْلَكُم مِّنَ ٱلْأَعْرَابِ مُنَـٰفِقُونَ‌ۖ وَمِنْ أَهْلِ ٱلْمَدِينَةِ‌ۖ مَرَدُواْ عَلَى ٱلنِّفَاقِ لَا تَعْلَمُهُمْ‌ۖ نَحْنُ نَعْلَمُهُمْ‌ۚ سَنُعَذِّبُهُم مَّرَّتَيْنِ ثُمَّ يُرَدُّونَ إِلَىٰ عَذَابٍ عَظِيمٍ١٠١

вəмиммəн həулəкум-минəль-ə'рōōби мунəəфиќуун, вəмин əhлиль-мəдиинəh, мəрōдуу 'əлəə ннифəəќи лəə тə'лəмуhум, нəhну нə'лəмуhум, сəну'əз̃з̃ибуhум-мəррōтəйни c̃уммə йурōддуунə илəə 'əз̃əəбин 'əз̃ыым

There are hypocrites among the Bedouins around you and among the townspeople of Madinah, steeped in hypocrisy. You do not know them; We know them, and We will punish them twice, then they shall be consigned to a great punishment.

وَءَاخَرُونَ ٱعْتَرَفُواْ بِذُنُوبِهِمْ خَلَطُواْ عَمَلاً صَـٰلِحًا وَءَاخَرَ سَيِّئًا عَسَى ٱللَّهُ أَن يَتُوبَ عَلَيْهِمْ‌ۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ غَفُورٌ رَّحِيمٌ١٠٢

вə'əəхōруунə-'тəрōфуу биз̃унуубиhим хōлəт̣уу 'əмəлəн сōōлиhəу-вə'əəхōрō сəййи'əн 'əсəə ллаhу əй-йəтуубə 'əлэйhим, иннə ллаhə ґōфууруррōhиим

[There are] others who have confessed to their sins, having mixed up righteous conduct with other that was evil. Maybe Allah will accept their repentance. Indeed Allah is all-forgiving, all-merciful.

خُذْ مِنْ أَمْوَٲلِهِمْ صَدَقَةً تُطَهِّرُهُمْ وَتُزَكِّيهِم بِهَا وَصَلِّ عَلَيْهِمْ‌ۖ إِنَّ صَلَوٲتَكَ سَكَنٌ لَّهُمْ‌ۗ وَٱللَّهُ سَمِيعٌ عَلِيمٌ١٠٣

хуз̃ мин əмвəəлиhим сōдəќōтəн тут̣ōhhируhум вəтузəккииhимм-биhəə вəсōлли 'əлэйhим, иннə сōлəəтəкə сəкəнуль-лəhум, вə ллаhу сəмии'ун 'əлиим

Take charity from their possessions to cleanse them and purify them thereby, and bless them. Indeed your blessing is a comfort to them, and Allah is all-hearing, all-knowing.

أَلَمْ يَعْلَمُوٓاْ أَنَّ ٱللَّهَ هُوَ يَقْبَلُ ٱلتَّوْبَةَ عَنْ عِبَادِهِۦ وَيَأْخُذُ ٱلصَّدَقَـٰتِ وَأَنَّ ٱللَّهَ هُوَ ٱلتَّوَّابُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ١٠٤

əлəм йə'лəмуу əннə ллаhə hувə йəќбəлю ттəубəтə 'əн 'ибəəдиhи вəйəхуз̃у ссōдəќōōти вəəннə ллаhə hувə ттəувəəбу ррōhиим

Do they not know that it is Allah who accepts the repentance of His servants and receives the charities, and that it is Allah who is the All-clement, the All-merciful?

وَقُلِ ٱعْمَلُواْ فَسَيَرَى ٱللَّهُ عَمَلَكُمْ وَرَسُولُهُۥ وَٱلْمُؤْمِنُونَ‌ۖ وَسَتُرَدُّونَ إِلَىٰ عَـٰلِمِ ٱلْغَيْبِ وَٱلشَّهَـٰدَةِ فَيُنَبِّئُكُم بِمَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ١٠٥

вəќули-'мəлюю фəсəйəрōō ллаhу 'əмəлəкум вəрōсуулюhу вəəльму'минуун, вəсəтурōддуунə илəə 'əəлимиль-ґōйби вə шшəhəəдəти фəйунəбби'укумм-бимəə куӈтум тə'мəлююн

And say, ‘Go on working: Allah will see your conduct, and His Apostle and the faithful [as well], and you will be returned to the Knower of the sensible and the Unseen, and He will inform you concerning what you used to do.

وَءَاخَرُونَ مُرْجَوْنَ لِأَمْرِ ٱللَّهِ إِمَّا يُعَذِّبُهُمْ وَإِمَّا يَتُوبُ عَلَيْهِمْ‌ۗ وَٱللَّهُ عَلِيمٌ حَكِيمٌ١٠٦

вə'əəхōруунə мурджəунə лиəмри льлəhи иммəə йу'əз̃з̃ибуhум вəиммəə йəтуубу 'əлэйhим, вə ллаhу 'əлиимун həкиим

[There are] others waiting Allah’s edict: either He shall punish them, or turn to them clemently, and Allah is all-knowing, all-wise.

وَٱلَّذِينَ ٱتَّخَذُواْ مَسْجِدًا ضِرَارًا وَكُفْرًا وَتَفْرِيقَۢا بَيْنَ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَإِرْصَادًا لِّمَنْ حَارَبَ ٱللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُۥ مِن قَبْلُ‌ۚ وَلَيَحْلِفُنَّ إِنْ أَرَدْنَآ إِلَّا ٱلْحُسْنَىٰ‌ۖ وَٱللَّهُ يَشْهَدُ إِنَّهُمْ لَكَـٰذِبُونَ١٠٧

вəль-лəз̃иинə-ттəхōз̃уу мəсджидəн дырōōрōу-вəкуфрōу-вəтəфрииќōмм-бэйнəль-му'миниинə вəирсōōдəл-лимəн həəрōбə ллаhə вəрōсуулəhу миӈ-ќōбль, вəлəйəhлифуннə ин əрōднəə ильлəəль-hуснəə, вə ллаhу йəшhəду иннəhум лəкəəз̃ибуун

As for those who took to a mosque for sabotage and for defiance, and to cause division among the faithful, and for the purpose of ambush [used] by those who have fought Allah and His Apostle before—they will surely swear, ‘We desired nothing but good,’ and Allah bears witness that they are indeed liars.

لَا تَقُمْ فِيهِ أَبَدًا‌ۚ لَّمَسْجِدٌ أُسِّسَ عَلَى ٱلتَّقْوَىٰ مِنْ أَوَّلِ يَوْمٍ أَحَقُّ أَن تَقُومَ فِيهِ‌ۚ فِيهِ رِجَالٌ يُحِبُّونَ أَن يَتَطَهَّرُواْ‌ۚ وَٱللَّهُ يُحِبُّ ٱلْمُطَّهِّرِينَ١٠٨

лəə тəќум фииhи əбəдə, лəмəсджидун уссисə 'əлəə ттəќвəə мин əувəли йəумин əhəќќу əӈ-тəќуумə фииh, фииhи риджəəлюй-йуhиббуунə əй-йəтəт̣ōhhəруу, вə ллаhу йуhиббуль-мут̣т̣ōhhириин

Do not stand in it ever! A mosque founded on Godwariness from the [very] first day is worthier that you stand in it [for prayer]. Therein are men who love to keep pure, and Allah loves those who keep pure.

أَفَمَنْ أَسَّسَ بُنْيَـٰنَهُۥ عَلَىٰ تَقْوَىٰ مِنَ ٱللَّهِ وَرِضْوَٲنٍ خَيْرٌ أَم مَّنْ أَسَّسَ بُنْيَـٰنَهُۥ عَلَىٰ شَفَا جُرُفٍ هَارٍ فَٱنْهَارَ بِهِۦ فِى نَارِ جَهَنَّمَ‌ۗ وَٱللَّهُ لَا يَهْدِى ٱلْقَوْمَ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ١٠٩

əфəмəн əссəсə бунйəəнəhу 'əлəə тəќвəə минə ллаhи вəридвəəнин хōйрун əм-мəн əссəсə бунйəəнəhу 'əлəə шəфəə джуруфин həəрин фəəнhəəрō биhи фии нəəри джəhəннəм, вə ллаhу лəə йəhдииль-ќōумə з̃з̃ōōлимиин

Is he who founds his building on Godwariness and [the pursuit of Allah’s] pleasure better-off or he who founds his building on the brink of a collapsing bank which collapses with him into the fire of hell? Allah does not guide the wrongdoing lot.

لَا يَزَالُ بُنْيَـٰنُهُمُ ٱلَّذِى بَنَوْاْ رِيبَةً فِى قُلُوبِهِمْ إِلَّآ أَن تَقَطَّعَ قُلُوبُهُمْ‌ۗ وَٱللَّهُ عَلِيمٌ حَكِيمٌ١١٠

лəə йəзəəлю бунйəəнуhуму льлəз̃ии бəнəу риибəтəн фии ќулююбиhим ильлəə əӈ-тəќōт̣т̣ō'ə ќулююбуhум, вə ллаhу 'əлиимун həкиим

The building they have built will never cease to be [a source of] disquiet in their hearts until their hearts are cut into pieces, and Allah is all-knowing, all-wise.

إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ ٱشْتَرَىٰ مِنَ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ أَنفُسَهُمْ وَأَمْوَٲلَهُم بِأَنَّ لَهُمُ ٱلْجَنَّةَ‌ۚ يُقَـٰتِلُونَ فِى سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ فَيَقْتُلُونَ وَيُقْتَلُونَ‌ۖ وَعْدًا عَلَيْهِ حَقًّا فِى ٱلتَّوْرَٮٰةِ وَٱلْإِنجِيلِ وَٱلْقُرْءَانِ‌ۚ وَمَنْ أَوْفَىٰ بِعَهْدِهِۦ مِنَ ٱللَّهِ‌ۚ فَٱسْتَبْشِرُواْ بِبَيْعِكُمُ ٱلَّذِى بَايَعْتُم بِهِۦ‌ۚ وَذَٲلِكَ هُوَ ٱلْفَوْزُ ٱلْعَظِيمُ١١١

иннə ллаhə-штəрōō минəль-му'миниинə əӈфусəhум вəəмвəəлəhумм-биəннə лəhумуль-джəннəh, йуќōōтилююнə фии сəбиили льлəhи фəйəќтулююнə вəйуќтəлююн, вə'дəн 'əлэйhи həќќōн фии ттəурōōти вəəльиӈджиили вəəльќур'əəн, вəмəн əуфəə би'əhдиhи минə ллаh, фəəстəбшируу бибəй'икуму льлəз̃ии бəəйə'тумм-биh, вəз̃əəликə hувəль-фəузуль-'əз̃ыым

Indeed Allah has bought from the faithful their souls and their possessions for paradise to be theirs: they fight in the way of Allah, kill, and are killed. A promise binding upon Him in the Torah and the Evangel and the Quran. And who is truer to his promise than Allah? So rejoice in the bargain you have made with Him, and that is the great success.

ٱلتَّـٰٓئِبُونَ ٱلْعَـٰبِدُونَ ٱلْحَـٰمِدُونَ ٱلسَّـٰٓئِحُونَ ٱلرَّٲكِعُونَ ٱلسَّـٰجِدُونَ ٱلْأَمِرُونَ بِٱلْمَعْرُوفِ وَٱلنَّاهُونَ عَنِ ٱلْمُنكَرِ وَٱلْحَـٰفِظُونَ لِحُدُودِ ٱللَّهِ‌ۗ وَبَشِّرِ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ١١٢

əттəə'ибуунəль-'əəбидуунəль-həəмидуунə ссəə'иhуунə ррōōки'уунə ссəəджидуунəль-'əəмируунə биль-мə'рууфи вə ннəəhуунə 'əниль-муӈкəри вəəльhəəфиз̃уунə лиhудууди льлəh, вəбəшшириль-му'миниин

[The faithful are] penitent, devout, celebrators of Allah’s praise, wayfarers, who bow [and] prostrate [in prayer], bid what is right and forbid what is wrong, and keep Allah’s bounds—and give good news to the faithful.

مَا كَانَ لِلنَّبِىِّ وَٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓاْ أَن يَسْتَغْفِرُواْ لِلْمُشْرِكِينَ وَلَوْ كَانُوٓاْ أُوْلِى قُرْبَىٰ مِنۢ بَعْدِ مَا تَبَيَّنَ لَهُمْ أَنَّهُمْ أَصْحَـٰبُ ٱلْجَحِيمِ١١٣

мəə кəəнə лин-нəбиййи вəль-лəз̃иинə əəмəнуу əй-йəстəґфируу ли-ль-мушрикиинə вəлəу кəəнуу уулии ќурбəə мимм-бə'ди мəə тəбэййəнə лəhум əннəhум əсhəəбуль-джəhиим

The Prophet and the faithful may not plead for the forgiveness of the polytheists, even if they should be [their] relatives, after it has become clear to them that they will be the inmates of hell.

وَمَا كَانَ ٱسْتِغْفَارُ إِبْرَٲهِيمَ لِأَبِيهِ إِلَّا عَن مَّوْعِدَةٍ وَعَدَهَآ إِيَّاهُ فَلَمَّا تَبَيَّنَ لَهُۥٓ أَنَّهُۥ عَدُوٌّ لِّلَّهِ تَبَرَّأَ مِنْهُ‌ۚ إِنَّ إِبْرَٲهِيمَ لَأَوَّٲهٌ حَلِيمٌ١١٤

вəмəə кəəнə-стиґфəəру ибрōōhиимə лиəбииhи ильлəə 'əмм-мəу'идəтиу-вə'əдəhəə иййəəhу фəлəммəə тəбэййəнə лəhу əннəhу 'əдуувул-ли-Ллəhи тəбəррōə минh, иннə ибрōōhиимə лəəувəəhун həлиим

Abraham’s pleading forgiveness for his father was only to fulfill a promise he had made him. So when it became manifest to him that he was an enemy of God, he repudiated him. Indeed Abraham was most plaintive and forbearing.

وَمَا كَانَ ٱللَّهُ لِيُضِلَّ قَوْمَۢا بَعْدَ إِذْ هَدَٮٰهُمْ حَتَّىٰ يُبَيِّنَ لَهُم مَّا يَتَّقُونَ‌ۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ بِكُلِّ شَىْءٍ عَلِيمٌ١١٥

вəмəə кəəнə ллаhу лийудыльлə ќōумəмм-бə'дə из̃ həдəəhум həттəə йубəййинə лəhум-мəə йəттəќуун, иннə ллаhə бикулли шэй'ин 'əлиим

Allah does not lead any people astray after He has guided them until He has made clear to them what they should beware of. Indeed Allah has knowledge of all things.

إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَهُۥ مُلْكُ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٲتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ‌ۖ يُحْىِۦ وَيُمِيتُ‌ۚ وَمَا لَكُم مِّن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ مِن وَلِىٍّ وَلَا نَصِيرٍ١١٦

иннə ллаhə лəhу мульку ссəмəəвəəти вəəльəрд, йуhйии вəйумиит, вəмəə лəкум-миӈ-дууни льлəhи миу-вəлиййиу-вəлəə нəсыыр

Indeed to Allah belongs the kingdom of the heavens and the earth. He gives life and brings death. And besides Allah you do not have any guardian or helper.

لَّقَد تَّابَ ٱللَّهُ عَلَى ٱلنَّبِىِّ وَٱلْمُهَـٰجِرِينَ وَٱلْأَنصَارِ ٱلَّذِينَ ٱتَّبَعُوهُ فِى سَاعَةِ ٱلْعُسْرَةِ مِنۢ بَعْدِ مَا كَادَ يَزِيغُ قُلُوبُ فَرِيقٍ مِّنْهُمْ ثُمَّ تَابَ عَلَيْهِمْ‌ۚ إِنَّهُۥ بِهِمْ رَءُوفٌ رَّحِيمٌ١١٧

лəќōт-тəəбə ллаhу 'əлəə ннəбиййи вəəльмуhəəджириинə вəəльəӈсōōри льлəз̃иинə-ттəбə'ууhу фии сəə'əтиль-'усрōти мимм-бə'ди мəə кəəдə йəзииґу ќулююбу фəрииќимм-минhум c̃уммə тəəбə 'əлэйhим, иннəhу биhим рō'ууфуррōhиим

Certainly Allah turned clemently to the Prophet and the Emigrants and the Helpers, who followed him in the hour of difficulty, after the hearts of a part of them were about to swerve. Then He turned clemently to them—indeed, He is most kind and merciful to them

وَعَلَى ٱلثَّلَـٰثَةِ ٱلَّذِينَ خُلِّفُواْ حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَا ضَاقَتْ عَلَيْهِمُ ٱلْأَرْضُ بِمَا رَحُبَتْ وَضَاقَتْ عَلَيْهِمْ أَنفُسُهُمْ وَظَنُّوٓاْ أَن لَّا مَلْجَأَ مِنَ ٱللَّهِ إِلَّآ إِلَيْهِ ثُمَّ تَابَ عَلَيْهِمْ لِيَتُوبُوٓاْ‌ۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ هُوَ ٱلتَّوَّابُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ١١٨

вə'əлəə c̃c̃əлəəc̃əти льлəз̃иинə хуллифуу həттəə из̃əə дōōќōт 'əлэйhимуль-əрду бимəə рōhубəт вəдōōќōт 'əлэйhим əӈфусуhум вəз̃ōннуу əль-лəə мəльджəə минə ллаhи ильлəə илəйhи c̃уммə тəəбə 'əлэйhим лийəтуубуу, иннə ллаhə hувə ттəувəəбу ррōhиим

—and to the three who were left behind. When the earth became narrow for them with [all] its expanse, and their own souls weighed heavily on them, and they knew that there was no refuge from Allah except in Him, then He turned clemently toward them so that they might be penitent. Indeed Allah is the All-clement, the All-merciful.

يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ ٱتَّقُواْ ٱللَّهَ وَكُونُواْ مَعَ ٱلصَّـٰدِقِينَ١١٩

йəə əййуhəə льлəз̃иинə əəмəнуу-ттəќуу ллаhə вəкуунуу мə'ə ссōōдиќиин

O you who have faith! Be wary of Allah, and be with the Truthful.

مَا كَانَ لِأَهْلِ ٱلْمَدِينَةِ وَمَنْ حَوْلَهُم مِّنَ ٱلْأَعْرَابِ أَن يَتَخَلَّفُواْ عَن رَّسُولِ ٱللَّهِ وَلَا يَرْغَبُواْ بِأَنفُسِهِمْ عَن نَّفْسِهِۦ‌ۚ ذَٲلِكَ بِأَنَّهُمْ لَا يُصِيبُهُمْ ظَمَأٌ وَلَا نَصَبٌ وَلَا مَخْمَصَةٌ فِى سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ وَلَا يَطَــُٔونَ مَوْطِئًا يَغِيظُ ٱلْكُفَّارَ وَلَا يَنَالُونَ مِنْ عَدُوٍّ نَّيْلاً إِلَّا كُتِبَ لَهُم بِهِۦ عَمَلٌ صَـٰلِحٌ‌ۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَا يُضِيعُ أَجْرَ ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ١٢٠

мəə кəəнə лиəhлиль-мəдиинəти вəмəн həулəhум-минəль-ə'рōōби əй-йəтəхōльлəфуу 'əр-рōсуули льлəhи вəлəə йəрґōбуу биəӈфусиhим 'əн-нəфсиh, з̃əəликə биəннəhум лəə йусыыбуhум з̃ōмəуу-вəлəə нəсōбуу-вəлəə мəхмəсōтун фии сəбиили льлəhи вəлəə йəт̣ō'уунə мəут̣ы'əй-йəґииз̃уль-куффəəрō вəлəə йəнəəлююнə мин 'əдуувин-ннəйлəн ильлəə кутибə лəhумм-биhи 'əмəлюн сōōлиh, иннə ллаhə лəə йудыы'у əджрōль-муhсиниин

It is not fitting for the people of Madinah and the Bedouins around them to hang back behind the Apostle of Allah and prefer their own lives to his life. That is because they neither experience any thirst, nor fatigue, nor hunger, in the way of Allah, nor do they tread any ground enraging the faithless, nor do they gain any ground against an enemy but a righteous deed is written for them on its account. Indeed Allah does not waste the reward of the virtuous.

وَلَا يُنفِقُونَ نَفَقَةً صَغِيرَةً وَلَا كَبِيرَةً وَلَا يَقْطَعُونَ وَادِيًا إِلَّا كُتِبَ لَهُمْ لِيَجْزِيَهُمُ ٱللَّهُ أَحْسَنَ مَا كَانُواْ يَعْمَلُونَ١٢١

вəлəə йуӈфиќуунə нəфəќōтəн сōґиирōтəу-вəлəə кəбиирōтəу-вəлəə йəќт̣ō'уунə вəəдийəн ильлəə кутибə лəhум лийəджзийəhуму ллаhу əhсəнə мəə кəəнуу йə'мəлююн

And neither do they incur any expense, big or small, nor do they cross any valley, but it is written to their account, so that Allah may reward them by the best of what they used to do.

وَمَا كَانَ ٱلْمُؤْمِنُونَ لِيَنفِرُواْ كَآفَّةً‌ۚ فَلَوْلَا نَفَرَ مِن كُلِّ فِرْقَةٍ مِّنْهُمْ طَآئِفَةٌ لِّيَتَفَقَّهُواْ فِى ٱلدِّينِ وَلِيُنذِرُواْ قَوْمَهُمْ إِذَا رَجَعُوٓاْ إِلَيْهِمْ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَحْذَرُونَ١٢٢

вəмəə кəəнəль-му'минуунə лийəӈфируу кəəффəh, фəлəулəə нəфəрō миӈ-кулли фирќōтимм-минhум т̣ōō'ифəтул-лийəтəфəќќōhуу фии ддиини вəлийуӈз̃ируу ќōумəhум из̃əə рōджə'уу илəйhим лə'əльлəhум йəhз̃əруун

Yet it is not for the faithful to go forth en masse. But why should not there a group from each of their sections go forth to become learned in religion, and to warn their people when they return to them, so that they may beware?

يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ قَـٰتِلُواْ ٱلَّذِينَ يَلُونَكُم مِّنَ ٱلْكُفَّارِ وَلْيَجِدُواْ فِيكُمْ غِلْظَةً‌ۚ وَٱعْلَمُوٓاْ أَنَّ ٱللَّهَ مَعَ ٱلْمُتَّقِينَ١٢٣

йəə əййуhəə льлəз̃иинə əəмəнуу ќōōтилюю льлəз̃иинə йəлююнəкум-минəль-куффəəри вəльйəджидуу фиикум ґильз̃ōh, вəə'лəмуу əннə ллаhə мə'əль-муттəќиин

O you who have faith! Fight the faithless who are in your vicinity, and let them find severity in you, and know that Allah is with the Godwary.

وَإِذَا مَآ أُنزِلَتْ سُورَةٌ فَمِنْهُم مَّن يَقُولُ أَيُّكُمْ زَادَتْهُ هَـٰذِهِۦٓ إِيمَـٰنًا‌ۚ فَأَمَّا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ فَزَادَتْهُمْ إِيمَـٰنًا وَهُمْ يَسْتَبْشِرُونَ١٢٤

вəиз̃əə мəə уӈзилəт суурōтун фəминhум-мəй-йəќуулю əййукум зəəдəтhу həəз̃иhи иимəəнə, фəəммəə льлəз̃иинə əəмəнуу фəзəəдəтhум иимəəнəу-вəhум йəстəбшируун

Whenever a surah is sent down, there are some of them who say, ‘Which of you did it increase in faith?’ As for those who have faith, it increases them in faith, and they rejoice.

وَأَمَّا ٱلَّذِينَ فِى قُلُوبِهِم مَّرَضٌ فَزَادَتْهُمْ رِجْسًا إِلَىٰ رِجْسِهِمْ وَمَاتُواْ وَهُمْ كَـٰفِرُونَ١٢٥

вəəммəə льлəз̃иинə фии ќулююбиhим-мəрōдун фəзəəдəтhум риджсəн илəə риджсиhим вəмəəтуу вəhум кəəфируун

But as for those in whose heart is a sickness, it only adds defilement to their defilement, and they die while they are faithless.

أَوَلَا يَرَوْنَ أَنَّهُمْ يُفْتَنُونَ فِى كُلِّ عَامٍ مَّرَّةً أَوْ مَرَّتَيْنِ ثُمَّ لَا يَتُوبُونَ وَلَا هُمْ يَذَّكَّرُونَ١٢٦

əвəлəə йəрōунə əннəhум йуфтəнуунə фии кулли 'əəмимм-мəррōтəн əу мəррōтəйни c̃уммə лəə йəтуубуунə вəлəə hум йəз̃з̃əккəруун

Do they not see that they are tried once or twice every year? Yet they neither repent, nor do they take admonition.

وَإِذَا مَآ أُنزِلَتْ سُورَةٌ نَّظَرَ بَعْضُهُمْ إِلَىٰ بَعْضٍ هَلْ يَرَٮٰكُم مِّنْ أَحَدٍ ثُمَّ ٱنصَرَفُواْ‌ۚ صَرَفَ ٱللَّهُ قُلُوبَهُم بِأَنَّهُمْ قَوْمٌ لَّا يَفْقَهُونَ١٢٧

вəиз̃əə мəə уӈзилəт суурōтун-ннəз̃ōрō бə'дуhум илəə бə'дын həль йəрōōкум-мин əhəдин c̃уммə-ӈсōрōфуу, сōрōфə ллаhу ќулююбəhумм-биəннəhум ќōумуль-лəə йəфќōhуун

Whenever a surah is sent down they look at one another: ‘Is anybody observing you?’ Then they slip away. Allah has turned aside their hearts, for they are a people who do not understand.

لَقَدْ جَآءَكُمْ رَسُولٌ مِّنْ أَنفُسِكُمْ عَزِيزٌ عَلَيْهِ مَا عَنِتُّمْ حَرِيصٌ عَلَيْكُم بِٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ رَءُوفٌ رَّحِيمٌ١٢٨

лəќōд джəə'əкум рōсуулюмм-мин əӈфусикум 'əзиизун 'əлэйhи мəə 'əниттум həриисун 'əлэйкумм-биль-му'миниинə рō'ууфуррōhиим

There has certainly come to you an apostle from among yourselves. Grievous to him is your distress; he has deep concern for you, and is most kind and merciful to the faithful.

فَإِن تَوَلَّوْاْ فَقُلْ حَسْبِىَ ٱللَّهُ لَآ إِلَـٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ‌ۖ عَلَيْهِ تَوَكَّلْتُ‌ۖ وَهُوَ رَبُّ ٱلْعَرْشِ ٱلْعَظِيمِ١٢٩

фəиӈ-тəвəльлəу фəќуль həсбийə ллаhу лəə илəəhə ильлəə hуу, 'əлэйhи тəвəккəльт, вəhувə рōббуль-'əршиль-'əз̃ыым

But if they turn their backs [on you], say, ‘Allah is sufficient for me. There is no god except Him. In Him I have put my trust and He is the Lord of the Great Throne.’
