surah088

هَلْ أَتَـٰكَ حَدِيثُ ٱلْغَـٰشِيَةِ١

həль əтəəкə həдииc̃уль-ґōōшийəh

Did you receive the account of the Enveloper?

وُجُوهٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ خَـٰشِعَةٌ٢

вуджууhуй-йəумə'из̃ин хōōши'əh

Some faces on that day will be humbled,

عَامِلَةٌ نَّاصِبَةٌ٣

'əəмилəтун-ннəəсыбəh

wrought-up and weary:

تَصْلَىٰ نَارًا حَامِيَةً٤

тəслəə нəəрōн həəмийəh

they will enter a scorching fire

تُسْقَىٰ مِنْ عَيْنٍ ءَانِيَةٍ٥

тусќōō мин 'əйнин əəнийəh

and made to drink from a boiling spring.

لَّيْسَ لَهُمْ طَعَامٌ إِلَّا مِن ضَرِيعٍ٦

лэйсə лəhум т̣ō'əəмун ильлəə миӈ-дōрии'

They will have no food except cactus,

لَّا يُسْمِنُ وَلَا يُغْنِى مِن جُوعٍ٧

лəə йусмину вəлəə йуґнии миӈ-джуу'

neither nourishing, nor of avail against hunger.

وُجُوهٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ نَّاعِمَةٌ٨

вуджууhуй-йəумə'из̃ин-ннəə'имəh

Some faces on that day will be joyous,

لِّسَعْيِهَا رَاضِيَةٌ٩

лисə'йиhəə рōōдыйəh

pleased with their endeavour,

فِى جَنَّةٍ عَالِيَةٍ١٠

фии джəннəтин 'əəлийəh

in a lofty garden,

لَّا تَسْمَعُ فِيهَا لَـٰغِيَةً١١

лəə тəсмə'у фииhəə лəəґийəh

where they will not hear any vain talk.

فِيهَا عَيْنٌ جَارِيَةٌ١٢

фииhəə 'əйнун джəəрийəh

In it is a flowing spring

فِيهَا سُرُرٌ مَّرْفُوعَةٌ١٣

фииhəə сурурумм-мəрфуу'əh

and raised couches,

وَأَكْوَابٌ مَّوْضُوعَةٌ١٤

вəəквəəбумм-мəудуу'əh

with goblets set,

وَنَمَارِقُ مَصْفُوفَةٌ١٥

вəнəмəəриќу мəсфууфəh

and cushions laid out in an array,

وَزَرَابِىُّ مَبْثُوثَةٌ١٦

вəзəрōōбиййу мəбc̃ууc̃əh

and carpets spread out.

أَفَلَا يَنظُرُونَ إِلَى ٱلْإِبِلِ كَيْفَ خُلِقَتْ١٧

əфəлəə йəӈз̃уруунə илəəль-ибили кəйфə хулиќōт

Do they not observe the camel, [to see] how it has been created?

وَإِلَى ٱلسَّمَآءِ كَيْفَ رُفِعَتْ١٨

вəилəə ссəмəə'и кəйфə руфи'əт

and the sky, how it has been raised?

وَإِلَى ٱلْجِبَالِ كَيْفَ نُصِبَتْ١٩

вəилəəль-джибəəли кəйфə нусыбəт

and the mountains, how they have been set?

وَإِلَى ٱلْأَرْضِ كَيْفَ سُطِحَتْ٢٠

вəилəəль-əрды кəйфə сут̣ыhəт

and the earth, how it has been surfaced?

فَذَكِّرْ إِنَّمَآ أَنتَ مُذَكِّرٌ٢١

фəз̃əккир иннəмəə əӈтə муз̃əккир

So admonish—for you are only an admonisher,

لَّسْتَ عَلَيْهِم بِمُصَيْطِرٍ٢٢

лəстə 'əлэйhимм-бимусōйт̣ыр

and not a taskmaster over them—

إِلَّا مَن تَوَلَّىٰ وَكَفَرَ٢٣

ильлəə мəӈ-тəвəльлəə вəкəфəр

except him who turns back and disbelieves.

فَيُعَذِّبُهُ ٱللَّهُ ٱلْعَذَابَ ٱلْأَكْبَرَ٢٤

фəйу'əз̃з̃ибуhу ллаhуль-'əз̃əəбəль-əкбəр

Him Allah will punish with the greatest punishment.

إِنَّ إِلَيْنَآ إِيَابَهُمْ٢٥

иннə илəйнəə ийəəбəhум

Indeed to Us will be their return.

ثُمَّ إِنَّ عَلَيْنَا حِسَابَهُم٢٦

c̃уммə иннə 'əлэйнəə hисəəбəhум

Then, indeed, their reckoning will lie with Us.
