Najm (Star)

  • بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَـٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ

    бисмиль-лəhир-рōhмəəнир-рōhиим

    In the Name of Allah, the All-beneficent, the All-merciful.

  • 53:1
    وَالنَّجْمِ إِذَا هَوَىٰ

    вəн-нəджми из̃əə həвəə

    By the star when it sets:
    Detailed

  • 53:2
    مَا ضَلَّ صَاحِبُكُمْ وَمَا غَوَىٰ

    мəə дōльлə сōōhибукум вəмəə ґōвəə

    your companion has neither gone astray, nor amiss.

  • 53:3
    وَمَا يَنطِقُ عَنِ الْهَوَىٰ

    вəмəə йəŋŋтыќу 'əниль-həвəə

    Nor does he speak out of [his own] desire:
    Detailed

  • 53:4
    إِنْ هُوَ إِلَّا وَحْيٌ يُوحَىٰ

    ин hувə ильлəə вəhйуй-йууhəə

    it is just a revelation that is revealed [to him],

  • 53:5
    عَلَّمَهُ شَدِيدُ الْقُوَىٰ

    'əльлəмəhу шəдиидуль-ќувəə

    taught him by one of great powers,
    Detailed

  • 53:6
    ذُو مِرَّةٍ فَاسْتَوَىٰ

    з̃уу миррōтин фəəстəвəə

    possessed of sound judgement. He settled,
    Detailed

  • 53:7
    وَهُوَ بِالْأُفُقِ الْأَعْلَىٰ

    вəhувə би-ль-уфуќиль-ə'лəə

    while he was on the highest horizon.

  • 53:8
    ثُمَّ دَنَا فَتَدَلَّىٰ

    c̃уммə дəнəə фəтəдəльлəə

    Then he drew nearer and nearer
    Detailed

  • 53:9
    فَكَانَ قَابَ قَوْسَيْنِ أَوْ أَدْنَىٰ

    фəкəəнə ќōōбə ќōусəйни əу əднəə

    until he was within two bows’ length or even nearer,

  • 53:10
    فَأَوْحَىٰ إِلَىٰ عَبْدِهِ مَا أَوْحَىٰ

    фə`əуhəə илəə 'əбдиhи мəə əуhəə

    whereat He revealed to His servant whatever He revealed.

  • 53:11
    مَا كَذَبَ الْفُؤَادُ مَا رَأَىٰ

    мəə кəз̃əбəль-фу`əəду мəə рō`əə

    The heart did not deny what it saw.
    Detailed

  • 53:12
    أَفَتُمَارُونَهُ عَلَىٰ مَا يَرَىٰ

    əфəтумəəруунəhу 'əлəə мəə йəрōō

    Will you then dispute with him about what he saw?!
    Detailed

  • 53:13
    وَلَقَدْ رَآهُ نَزْلَةً أُخْرَىٰ

    вəлəќōд рō`əəhу нəзлəтəн ухрōō

    Certainly he saw it yet another time,

  • 53:14
    عِندَ سِدْرَةِ الْمُنتَهَىٰ

    'иŋŋдə сидрōтиль-муŋŋтəhəə

    by the Lote Tree of the Ultimate Boundary,
    Detailed

  • 53:15
    عِندَهَا جَنَّةُ الْمَأْوَىٰ

    'иŋŋдəhəə джəннəтуль-мə`вəə

    near which is the Garden of the Abode,
    Detailed

  • 53:16
    إِذْ يَغْشَى السِّدْرَةَ مَا يَغْشَىٰ

    из̃ йəґшəəс-сидрōтə мəə йəґшəə

    when there covered the Lote Tree what covered it.

  • 53:17
    مَا زَاغَ الْبَصَرُ وَمَا طَغَىٰ

    мəə зəəґōль-бəсōру вəмəə тōґōō

    His gaze did not swerve, nor did it overstep the bounds.
    Detailed

  • 53:18
    لَقَدْ رَأَىٰ مِنْ آيَاتِ رَبِّهِ الْكُبْرَىٰ

    лəќōд рō`əə мин əəйəəти рōббиhиль-кубрōō

    Certainly he saw some of the greatest signs of his Lord.

  • 53:19
    أَفَرَأَيْتُمُ اللَّاتَ وَالْعُزَّىٰ

    əфəрō`əйтумуль-лəəтə вəəль'уззəə

    Have you considered Lat and ‘Uzza?
    Detailed

  • 53:20
    وَمَنَاةَ الثَّالِثَةَ الْأُخْرَىٰ

    вəмəнəəтəc̃-c̃əəлиc̃əтəль-ухрōō

    and Manat, the third one?
