إِذَا ٱلشَّمْسُ كُوِّرَتْ١

из̃əə шшəмсу куувирōт

When the sun is wound up,

وَإِذَا ٱلنُّجُومُ ٱنكَدَرَتْ٢

вəиз̃əə ннуджууму-ӈкəдəрōт

when the stars scatter,

وَإِذَا ٱلْجِبَالُ سُيِّرَتْ٣

вəиз̃əəль-джибəəлю суййирōт

when the mountains are set moving,

وَإِذَا ٱلْعِشَارُ عُطِّلَتْ٤

вəиз̃əəль-'ишəəру 'ут̣т̣ылəт

when the pregnant camels are neglected,

وَإِذَا ٱلْوُحُوشُ حُشِرَتْ٥

вəиз̃əəль-вуhуушу hуширōт

when the wild beasts are mustered,

وَإِذَا ٱلْبِحَارُ سُجِّرَتْ٦

вəиз̃əəль-биhəəру суджджирōт

when the seas are set afire,

وَإِذَا ٱلنُّفُوسُ زُوِّجَتْ٧

вəиз̃əə ннуфуусу зуувиджəт

when the souls are assorted,

وَإِذَا ٱلْمَوْءُۥدَةُ سُئِلَتْ٨

вəиз̃əəль-мəу'уудəту су'илəт

when the girl buried-alive will be asked

بِأَىِّ ذَنۢبٍ قُتِلَتْ٩

биəййи з̃əмм-бин ќутилəт

for what sin she was killed.

وَإِذَا ٱلصُّحُفُ نُشِرَتْ١٠

вəиз̃əə ссуhуфу нуширōт

When the records [of deeds] are unfolded,

وَإِذَا ٱلسَّمَآءُ كُشِطَتْ١١

вəиз̃əə ссəмəə'у кушит̣ōт

when the sky is stripped off,

وَإِذَا ٱلْجَحِيمُ سُعِّرَتْ١٢

вəиз̃əəль-джəhииму су''ирōт

when hell is set ablaze,

وَإِذَا ٱلْجَنَّةُ أُزْلِفَتْ١٣

вəиз̃əəль-джəннəту узлифəт

when paradise is brought near,

عَلِمَتْ نَفْسٌ مَّآ أَحْضَرَتْ١٤

'əлимəт нəфсумм-мəə əhдōрōт

then a soul shall know what it has readied [for itself].

فَلَآ أُقْسِمُ بِٱلْخُنَّسِ١٥

фəлəə уќсиму биль-хуннəс

So I swear by the stars that return,

ٱلْجَوَارِ ٱلْكُنَّسِ١٦

əль-джəвəəриль-куннəс

the comets,

وَٱلَّيْلِ إِذَا عَسْعَسَ١٧

вə льлэйли из̃əə 'əс'əс

by the night as it approaches,

وَٱلصُّبْحِ إِذَا تَنَفَّسَ١٨

вə ссубhи из̃əə тəнəффəс

by the dawn as it breathes:

إِنَّهُۥ لَقَوْلُ رَسُولٍ كَرِيمٍ١٩

иннəhу лəќōулю рōсуулин кəриим

it is indeed the speech of a noble apostle,

ذِى قُوَّةٍ عِندَ ذِى ٱلْعَرْشِ مَكِينٍ٢٠

з̃ии ќуувəтин 'иӈдə з̃ииль-'əрши мəкиин

powerful and eminent with the Lord of the Throne,

مُّطَاعٍ ثَمَّ أَمِينٍ٢١

мут̣ōō'ин c̃əммə əмиин

one who is obeyed and is trustworthy as well.

وَمَا صَاحِبُكُم بِمَجْنُونٍ٢٢

вəмəə сōōhибукумм-бимəджнуун

Your companion is not crazy:

وَلَقَدْ رَءَاهُ بِٱلْأُفُقِ ٱلْمُبِينِ٢٣

вəлəќōд рō'əəhу биль-уфуќиль-мубиин

certainly he saw him on the manifest horizon,

وَمَا هُوَ عَلَى ٱلْغَيْبِ بِضَنِينٍ٢٤

вəмəə hувə 'əлəəль-ґōйби бидōниин

and he is not miserly concerning the Unseen.

وَمَا هُوَ بِقَوْلِ شَيْطَـٰنٍ رَّجِيمٍ٢٥

вəмəə hувə биќōули шэйт̣ōōнир-рōджиим

And it is not the speech of an outcast Satan.

فَأَيْنَ تَذْهَبُونَ٢٦

фəəйнə тəз̃həбуун

So where are you going?

إِنْ هُوَ إِلَّا ذِكْرٌ لِّلْعَـٰلَمِينَ٢٧

ин hувə ильлəə з̃икрул-ли-ль-'əəлəмиин

It is just a reminder for all the nations,

لِمَن شَآءَ مِنكُمْ أَن يَسْتَقِيمَ٢٨

лимəӈ-шəə'ə миӈкум əй-йəстəќиим

for those of you who wish to walk straight;

وَمَا تَشَآءُونَ إِلَّآ أَن يَشَآءَ ٱللَّهُ رَبُّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ٢٩

вəмəə тəшəə'уунə ильлəə əй-йəшəə'ə ллаhу рōббуль-'əəлəмиин

but you will not wish unless it is wished by Allah, the Lord of all the worlds.
