  • بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَـٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ

    бисмиль-лəhир-рōhмəəнир-рōhиим

    In the Name of Allah, the All-beneficent, the All-merciful.
  • 68:1

    ن  ۚ وَالْقَلَمِ وَمَا يَسْطُرُونَ

    Нун. вəəльќōлəми вəмəə йəстуруун

    Nun. By the Pen and what they write:
  • 68:2

    مَا أَنتَ بِنِعْمَةِ رَبِّكَ بِمَجْنُونٍ

    мəə əŋŋтə бини'мəти рōббикə бимəджнуун

    by your Lord’s blessing, you are not, crazy,
  • 68:3

    وَإِنَّ لَكَ لَأَجْرًا غَيْرَ مَمْنُونٍ

    вə`иннə лəкə лə`əджрōн ґōйрō мəмнуун

    and yours indeed will be an everlasting reward,
  • 68:4

    وَإِنَّكَ لَعَلَىٰ خُلُقٍ عَظِيمٍ

    вə`иннəкə лə'əлəə хулюќин 'əз̃ыым

    and indeed you possess a great character.
  • 68:5

    فَسَتُبْصِرُ وَيُبْصِرُونَ

    фəсəтубсыру вəйубсыруун

    You will see and they will see,
  • 68:6

    بِأَييِّكُمُ الْمَفْتُونُ

    би`əййикумуль-мəфтуун

    which one of you is crazy.
  • 68:7

    إِنَّ رَبَّكَ هُوَ أَعْلَمُ بِمَن ضَلَّ عَن سَبِيلِهِ وَهُوَ أَعْلَمُ بِالْمُهْتَدِينَ

    иннə рōббəкə hувə ə'лəму бимəŋŋ-дōльлə 'əŋŋ-сəбиилиhи вəhувə ə'лəму би-ль-муhтəдиин

    Indeed your Lord knows best those who stray from His way, and He knows best those who are guided.
  • 68:8

    فَلَا تُطِعِ الْمُكَذِّبِينَ

    фəлəə туты'иль-мукəз̃з̃ибиин

    So do not obey the deniers,
  • 68:9

    وَدُّوا لَوْ تُدْهِنُ فَيُدْهِنُونَ

    вəддуу лəу тудhину фəйудhинуун

    who are eager that you should be flexible, so that they [too] may be flexible [towards you].
  • 68:10

    وَلَا تُطِعْ كُلَّ حَلَّافٍ مَّهِينٍ

    вəлəə туты' кульлə həльлəəфимм-мəhиин

    And do not obey any vile swearer,
  • 68:11

    هَمَّازٍ مَّشَّاءٍ بِنَمِيمٍ

    həммəəзимм-мəшшəə`имм-бинəмиим

    scandal-monger, talebearer,
  • 68:12

    مَّنَّاعٍ لِّلْخَيْرِ مُعْتَدٍ أَثِيمٍ

    мəннəə'ил-ли-ль-хōйри му'тəдин əc̃иим

    hinderer of all good, sinful transgressor,
  • 68:13

    عُتُلٍّ بَعْدَ ذَ‌ٰلِكَ زَنِيمٍ

    'утуллимм-бə'дə з̃əəликə зəниим

    callous and, on top of that, baseborn
  • 68:14

    أَن كَانَ ذَا مَالٍ وَبَنِينَ

    əŋŋ-кəəнə з̃əə мəəлиу-вəбəниин

    —[who behaves in such a manner only] because he has wealth and children.
  • 68:15

    إِذَا تُتْلَىٰ عَلَيْهِ آيَاتُنَا قَالَ أَسَاطِيرُ الْأَوَّلِينَ

    из̃əə тутлəə 'əлэйhи əəйəəтунəə ќōōлə əсəəтыыруль-əувəлиин

    When Our signs are recited to him, he says, ‘Myths of the ancients!’
  • 68:16

    سَنَسِمُهُ عَلَى الْخُرْطُومِ

    сəнəсимуhу 'əлəəль-хуртуум

    Soon We shall brand him on his snout.
  • 68:17

    إِنَّا بَلَوْنَاهُمْ كَمَا بَلَوْنَا أَصْحَابَ الْجَنَّةِ إِذْ أَقْسَمُوا لَيَصْرِمُنَّهَا مُصْبِحِينَ

    иннəə бəлəунəəhум кəмəə бəлəунəə əсhəəбəль-джəннəти из̃ əќсəмуу лəйəсримуннəhəə мусбиhиин

    Indeed we have tested them just as We tested the People of the Garden when they vowed they would gather its fruit at dawn,
  • 68:18

    وَلَا يَسْتَثْنُونَ

    вəлəə йəстəc̃нуун

    and they did not make any exception.
  • 68:19

    فَطَافَ عَلَيْهَا طَائِفٌ مِّن رَّبِّكَ وَهُمْ نَائِمُونَ

    фəтōōфə 'əлэйhəə тōō`ифумм-мир-рōббикə вəhум нəə`имуун

    Then, a visitation from your Lord visited it while they were asleep.
  • 68:20

    فَأَصْبَحَتْ كَالصَّرِيمِ

    фə`əсбəhəт кəс-сōриим

    So, by dawn it was like a harvested field.
